Surbhi Tiwari speaks abt herself
Surbhi Tiwari tells Dhaval Roy why she's doing just one show now
after starring in four at one point.
It's said, it's better to burn out than fade away. Maybe this
maxim makes the stars of telly world do as many shows together as
they can and burn themselves out so as not to fade away in the
memories of people. But then, there are some like Smriti Iraani or
Saakshi Tanwar who do only one show and become national icons,
whereas there are others who do as many as four shows, but do not
achieve as much popularity as the biggies. They might also be doing
the same show, and famous in their own right, but are still not all
there.
One such actor seems to be Surbhi Tiwari, who was doing as many
as four shows at a time, one of them being Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii.
The actor was also doing Shagun, Shikwa and Kya Beti Paraya Dhan
Hai? "I was always engrossed in my work, and never thought of
publicity. And, I never had showdowns, nor was I was having an
affair that I would be written about," she laughs, "I was known
either as Aradhana of Shagun or Shilpa of KGGK, and never as Surbhi
Tiwari."
Once a star of four shows, right now Surbhi is doing only one
show: Kumkum. Out of work? "Not at all I couldn't take the stress of
doing four shows together. I had fainted as many as four times on
the sets, on Shagun, KGGK and Kya Beti.... Once, I couldn't go home
for seven days. The units were so disorganised, and there was so
much work pressure. I realised that whatever money I was making with
four serials, I was spending on my treatment. So I decided to quit
KGGK." But who would want to quit a big show like KGGK for other
shows! Surbhi defends herself, "I wanted to work in DD serials
because there is less stress, and Shagun couldn't do without me. So
I left KGGK."
Other than Kumkum, Surbhi has Siraj Ud Daulah on DD
which will release next month. She plays Luftanisa, the emperor's
wife. "It's more like Anarkali and Salim. Luftanisa is Siraj-Ud-
Daulah's kaneez, who changes him from being a brash young man to the
emperor. I'm very excited to play a period serial," she gushes. The
actor has lost 14 kgs, which she had put on because of stress and
hormonal imbalance. "I'm looking forward to doing quality work now.
As of now I am in jail in Kumkum," she says.
