Prashant Tamang meets PM Koirala
Prashant Tamang, who won the third season of a popular Indian reality show 'Indian Idol' last Sunday, arrived in Kathmandu yesterday to perform in a concert today.
Tamang was accompanied by two other gala round finalists Ankita and Deepali.
Prime Minister Koirala donned Tamang a traditional Nepali Topi with Khukuri.
Home Minister Krishna Prasad Sitaula was also present in the meeting.
After the meeting, Tamang said that he was nervous when he met PM Koirala, since it was his first meeting with a public figure of Nepal whom he had heard about so much. Stating that he always had wanted to meet PM Koirala, Prashant informed reporters that PM told him that music has strengthened Nepal's ties with India.
While talking to reporters, Tamang did not miss an opportunity to hum a few lines of a local band Mantra's song 'Gorkhali ko chhoro ma' which had mesmerized his fans during the grand finale as well.
Tamang said that he was overwhelmed by the support from Nepali fans who even went to Darjeeling to vote him.
Tamang, Ankita and Deepali performed in a concert today at St Xavier's School ground before a huge crowd. Nepali pop star Nima Rumba also performed with the trio.
The singers are scheduled to perform in Pokhara tomorrow.
