Gurpreet Singh, who replaced Rajeev Khandelwal as Sujal in 'Kahiin to Hoga,' is all set to return after a long hiatus. He will soon been seen in Star Plus' 'Saarrthi.'

Gurpreet essays the role of Rudra, an NRI from New York. He starts his career by earning just 20 dollars but later goes on to rule the New York Stock Exchange. He comes to Mumbai and slowy starts taking over companies.

"Rudra is an extremely rich man but he's never found true love. Not even from his parents. So, he cares less about emotions. The Goenkas are his bitter competitors. Initially, Rudra and Bhumika Goenka (the lead female protagonist) can't see eye to eye. However, later on, Rudra starts developing a liking for Bhumika," says Creative director, Sachin Mohite.

So why did Gurpeet take up this role? "I'm very fond of the producer Asit Modi. So, I couldn't refuse him. What I liked most about Rudra is that there are many facets to his personality. He's overtly ambitious, aggressive, cares less for emotions. However, he's not a negative character," says Gurpreet.

On his long absence from the small screen, Gurpreet says, "For many months, I was out of the country for personal reasons. Also, I wasn't keeping well. I regularly fell ill due to throat infection. In fact, once it was so bad that I had to be admitted to the hospital. Now things are again looking up for me."
