Magic of DDLJ for the 600th week

SHOW GOES ON: The film will complete 600 weeks of showing on April 20, 2007 at a Mumbai theatre.

Mumbai: It's been 12 years since its release. And Yash Raj Films' Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) is still creating history.

The love story, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, will complete 600 weeks of showing on April 20, 2007 at Mumbai's Maratha Mandir theatre.

In 2001, the film broke the continuous-exhibition record established by another classic, Ramesh Sippy's Sholay, that ran for five years from 1975-80 at Minerva theatre.

However, DDLJ remains the longest running film in the history of Indian cinema.

"Yash Raj is planning something to mark this occasion. The film has a collection of above 60 per cent from Monday to Wednesday and 100 per cent on weekends," says Executive Director of Maratha Mandir, Manoj Desai.

DDLJ, backed by a strong script and melodious songs, became a cult film with award-winning performances by Shah Rukh and Kajol.

The film was maverick director Aditya Chopra's debut. But unfortunately Aditya has not been able to create the magic of DDLJ at the box office again.

The music for the film was composed by Jatin-Lalit and Anand Bakshi wrote the lyrics.

The film also starred ace director Karan Johar, who was assisting Aditya, in a guest role.

SRK's Mannat in the news… Again!

Looks like there is no respite for SRK with respect to his house – Mannat at Bandstand in suburban Mumbai. The sprawling property is once again in the news for all the wrong reasons – this time thanks to a graffito sprayed onto Shah Rukh's house and his neighbours.

Of late graffito has become a menacing problem in suburban Mumbai especially in the areas of Lokhandwala and Bandra. And last weekend these graffiti artists decided to turn their attention to SRK's 26,400 sq. ft house by spraying 'SRK GAY' on the bungalow wall.

This comes just a few weeks after the Bombay High Court had asked SRK to submit documents regarding the ownership of the bungalow as well as the construction he has undertaken on the plot adjacent to Mannat. This decision came following a petition filed by the NGO Bhrashtachar Nirmulan Sanghatana which states that the construction done by Shah Rukh obstructs another road. There is also an alleged allegation that the property where this construction has taken place was actually a property actually meant for an art gallery.

But what seems quite surprising is the fact that although Shah Rukh is provided with 24-hour police security of which a couple of guards travel with him while the rest are stationed out side Mannat.

So what we want to know is where was all the security when these graffiti artists were making merry with SRK's property?
