Kanchi Kaul, television actor Even though I live with my parents at Lokhandwala, Andheri, I bought a two-bedroom apartment at Malad (west) in May last year. A Raheja complex situated near Inorbit Mall, it was bought purely for investment purpose. With real estate prices appreciating fast in Mumbai, it is a lucrative investment at the moment. For me, among the two most important criterions for buying a property was its closeness to my present home at Andheri and secondly, an established and reliable builder. Since this apartment is close to my home and promoted by the Rahejas, I went ahead without a second thought. I took a home loan from HDFC bank and it works out just fine. In fact, one should avail home loans as it is the best way to repay while making such big investments. Just make sure that you have a consistent salary and the amount is such that it can be repaid without making you feel the pinch every month in future too. My father has taken care of all the paperwork and formalities and that has relieved me of overseeing the finer details. Unlike other cities across the country, the real estate prices in Mumbai are exorbitant and sky rocketing. Yet, with the prices appreciating rapidly, you can be sure of getting a neat profit whenever you plan to sell it off too. I am happy that I chose this apartment in the western suburbs as it's a good location, good price and with the real estate value in this area on the rise, I'm sure, I have a winner in my hand.
