A/N: This is loosely based on a true and personal story close to me however the ending for this SS will be different than the one we’d endured in real life. There is going to be creative changes as it is an MG FF and hope you will enjoy this.
Prologue
“Aapi, they’re here!” Nadia whisper-shouted entering the room where I was waiting in the hotel.
My heart pounded in my chest. “Hayye, Allah” I whispered.
“Aapi, breathe. Inhale and breathe” Nadia murmured.
I smacked her hands away. “Don’t touch me right now. Let me panic”.
“No time to panic anymore. They are here” she reminded with a playful wink.
I sighed heavily and paced the bedroom.
There was a knock on the door and it was my bhabhi. “Geet, it’s time”.
“Bhabhi, are you sure?” I asked.
She smiled warmly and entered the bedroom.
“It’s okay to be nervous, meri jaan” she said with a soft laugh. She cradled my cheeks and kissed my forehead. “It’s your Nikah after all”.
I swallowed thickly and nodded.
My sister and bhabhi guided me down the stairs out to the garden where my groom awaited for me. I lowered my gaze, feeling my heart pounding as I walked down the aisle with them flagging either side of me and we reached the stage where our Nikah stage had been set.
A barrier between us as we both took our places.
I turned my head briefly as my mother settled beside me, I reached out clasping her hand and held on tightly as the Imaam started speaking.
I chewed on my lip as he asked for my consent to this marriage.
My mother warned me to not to say Qabool so quickly, I found it difficult to bring the words to my lips because it means I would no longer be their daughter. I would no longer belong to this house. I would belong to my husband, belong to my in laws. I shuddered when he repeated the same question again and there was the elderly aunties urging me to say yes.
I looked at my mother. Tears stinging my eyes and squeezed her hand. She smiled and squeezed my hand back.
“Qabool hai” I murmured.
There was an echo of Alhamdullilah and then I was asked again. I answered the same question another two times.
My groom was asked the question and I watched as he answered. Another chorus of Alhamdullilah was uttered and we were embraced by our families and siblings congratulating us.
This is it now. I was now a married woman.
