Indian Street Premier League Teams

The Indian Street Premier League will consist of six teams, each owned by a franchise from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Srinagar.

The inaugural Indian Street Premier League (ISPL) will begin on March 6, according to the organizers. The ISPL will be the country’s first T10 tennis ball cricket event.

Those six teams will play a total of 19 matches in the tournament from March 2, 2024, to March 9, 2024, with all 19 games set to be played in Mumbai.

The ISPL seeks to go beyond national borders and become a global platform that supports the development of future cricket superstars and gives the city cricket scene more structure.

Essentially, it is a tennis-ball cricket competition that will highlight street cricket players with the goal of showcasing their unadulterated skill and energy on a large scale.

So far, five legends of the Indian film industry have bought the ownership rights of the five teams: Srinagar, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru.

ISPL 2024 Format: How many games will each team play?

Each team will play each other once in the round-robin phase, which means that each team play five games.

The top four teams, then, will qualify for the playoffs, which are expected to follow the same format as the Indian Premier League (IPL), where the top two teams play each other in a qualifier and the third and fourth-placed teams play in a virtual quarter-final.

The winner of the first qualifier goes through to the final, with the loser of the qualifier and the winner of the 'virtual quarter-final' taking each other on for a place in the final.

BCCI Treasurer Ashish Shelar is one of the members of the core committee of the ISPL. He said in a statement that the ISPL will be a platform for unnoticed talent to be seen on a big stage.

“The ISPL not only brings a dynamic and entertaining cricket format to the forefront but more importantly, it opens the gates for extraordinary talent that often goes unnoticed,” Shelar said.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Amol Kale echoed Shelar's statements.

"It will provide a vital platform for those players who dream of playing inside the stadiums, allowing them to showcase their exceptional skills to a wider audience," Kale claimed.

Ravi Shastri, the former India coach and player, has been brought on board by ISPL as the tournament's chief mentor.

Here is what Shastri had to say: "The ISPL will offer the cricketing dreams of many a chance to flourish on a big stage. I am looking forward to witnessing the success stories that will undoubtedly emerge from this exciting venture.”

This is one league where the franchise owners are way more famous than the actual players.

With the goal of breaking down barriers and developing into a global platform, ISPL-T10 takes the unadulterated passion and skill of street cricket to stadiums.

Cricket icon Ravi Shastri is the league’s Chief Mentor, bringing unmatched experience to the proceedings. Pravin Ambre and Jatin Paranjape are on the selection committee, which guarantees a fair and competitive procedure.

With its exciting grand opening and closing ceremonies, ISPL-T10 is expected to inject some extravagance into the league’s cricketing offerings. The ceremonies will prepare everyone for the fierce match that will take place on the cricket pitch.

Except Ram C and Suriya, every owner is at Jamnagar attending pre-wedding festivities of Anant Ambani which goes over 3 days. So, there’ll be hardly any owners seen tomorrow at ISPL inaugural.
