Vandu’s Injured Ankle: BTS vs. Actual Edited Scene (Epi 158)

In high expectation of what’s coming next, dedicated viewers consistently enjoy watching BTS on social media before an epi airs. It’s not that they are looking for spoilers, but rather BTS has the ability to curate excitement before episodes are ever released. This particular BTS (link below) of Kunal caring for Vandu after a trip and fall created a spark of excitement because what viewers anticipate to watch more than anything in BKAS are KuVan scenes or romantic moments between the FL and ML which there never seems to be enough of these days. However, after watching this BTS (link is below) and then viewing the actual scene in the epi, it’s not that the serial lacks KuVan scenes but rather it’s how the KuVan scenes are shot and edited that makes all the difference in telling this love story. 

Disappointingly, the actual scene in the epi didn’t compare to the BTS which showed more of zoomed in moments of Kunal actually caring for Vandu by rubbing her ankle. Now the explanation for editing out Kunal touching or rubbing Vandu’s ankle could be due to a regulation in ITV serials that no more than 5 seconds of a female’s ankle can be exposed or touched as it maybe considered brief nudity or even worse… 🫣🫢sexual. And if that’s the case then well there is nothing else editors can do but show the top of Kunal’s head and have viewers assume or imagine him rubbing her ankle. It’s understandable if that’s the case but if that is NOT a rule or regulation then the edited scene could have been much better. 

At this point in this story, it’s not the long stares and mere hand touches that viewers want to sit through with the title song playing in the background. Those moments indicate brief intermissions at this point in the serial and are yawned over🥱😴. Those scenes have been replicated in 57 of the episodes already and viewers want to see KuVan at a new level. It would have been nice to see Kunal care for Vandu because that’s what the audience desires and longs for those intimate moments but more than seeing Kunal care for Vandu in this scene, viewers see the top of his head and the rest is left up to imagination and assumption. Now, this is satisfactory because not every action has to be shown to tell a story but NOT showing this care or lack of attention on Kunal physically touching Vandu’s ankle to care for her doesn’t sell the love story and doesn’t convey feeling and emotion. It all seemed transactional versus impactful. 

Please know there is compassion for everyone who makes BKAS happens daily (actors, editors, MUA, stylists, directors, etc.) because it doesn’t look easy and there is awareness that it’s indeed a tough job. So, this is not a post intended to bash anyone but rather a viewer’s perspective and feedback for a serial that is adored.

The BTS was better. I thought it was sweet to see Kunal rub her ankle. I liked how the BTS zoomed in on that and then showed them looking at each other. It was much better than actual scene.

Absolutely BTS are blessed in Episode they are nothing to watch I don’t know what they are trying to prove it with out kuvan their is nothing to watch in it  they should focus to kuvan at least now 🙄🙄🙄🙄
