Finished watching it all.

Overall it was good.  Not great but good.  First episode was meh.  Second a little better. But after third episode it got engaging and all the action started.

Vivek is a good actor.  Sid was good too though his character was sort of intense. Shilpa had some good moments and some 90s moments.  Actually the whole thing had some 90s moments. You know when the hero fights 3 or 4 bad guys and doesn’t get hurt at all.  I guess that’s part of Rohit Shetty’s thing.

This is a sort of a vague spoiler so …

The good guys’ storylines were mostly about their work. Their personal lives was sort of a background thing. But the villain had a whole romantic track, including a song, and even a back story.

All and all of you like action and car chases and five minute fight scenes watch it.

Delhi ka launda hoon dialogue is so cringe that even though m nt a Delhite, I am cringing on behalf of them.

Nikitan Dhar Shetty ko package mein Mila tha kya with all the scorpios, he is there in almost movie of hissmiley39

In pataal lok, Ishwak character had a better storyline wrt Muslims in the force, Idk how it's written in this show

Indian Police Force is the action thriller series that debuted on Prime Video today. Starring Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Vivek Oberoi in the leading roles, this seven–episode series has opened to a mixed response from critics. While some lauded the narrative as gripping, a few others found the cop drama to be a bit clichéd. Talking about the performances, it was Sidharth’s portrayal of DCP Kabir Malik IPS that left the critics impressed. Take a look at the reviews shared by critics on Indian Police Force. Indian Police Force: Shilpa Shetty Shares BTS Video From Director Rohit Shetty’s Upcoming Series, Expresses Gratitude to Team for Their Hard Work (View Post).

Hindustan Times – It’s a smart choice to cast Sidharth Malhotra, who doesn't really own a large personality, but makes for an efficient representation of the police force. He gets the physicality, gait, posture, and the default economy of expressions just right for any young, aspiring police officer out there.

India TV – Sidharth Malhotra carries the form of a 'sarphira police officer' but the calm-composed side of the actor offscreen also has a fair share in his portrayal of Kabir Malik. Be it his breakout scene after the death of a senior officer, or confronting the terrorist part, Sidharth Malhotra dons the skin of a Police officer and does it all with good camera presence.

FilmiBeat – Sidharth Malhotra is good in his part, but in the first three episodes, his character doesn't have much meat. However, from the fourth episode, he takes the centre stage and impresses us.

India Today – However, as the series progresses, it becomes evident that Rohit Shetty's penchant for over-the-top heroic portrayals is both a strength and a weakness. While Sidharth Malhotra's portrayal of Kabir Malik is notable, offering a convincing blend of grit and vulnerability, Vivek Oberoi's performance as Vikram Bakshi falls a little short of expectations.

Times Now – The series has certainly been made on a large scale as is evident by the production design, sets and the expansive drone shots of each of the locations. The action sequences match up to Shetty's films, and even though it is a web series, the look and feel of the show are similar.

Bollywood Hungama – Rohit Shetty and Sushwanth Prakash’s direction is decent. On the flipside, the series doesn’t present anything that we have not seen before in a Rohit Shetty venture. Sidharth Malhotra looks convincing as an action hero.

Pinkvilla – The conviction in the storytelling is oozing in Indian Police Force and that's great news for Shetty admirers who have a big film coming up later in the year, Singham Again. Sidharth Malhotra as Inspector Kabir Malik delivers a very credible performance and his body language syncs with the personality of a confident police inspector.

BollywoodLife – Sidharth Malhotra appears to be in his zone. With Shershaah, Mission Majnu and now Indian Police Force, Sid was at home with the genre. Indian Police Force is a decent addition to Rohit Shetty's cop universe. This seems to be just the first part of more chapters to come and we are sure Shetty will only get bigger and better here on.

Indian Police Force Review: No brawn, brain and bravura, Rohit Shetty and Sidharth Malhotra's thriller lacks energyBy Tanmayi Savadi  on   January 19, 2024 11:14:13 AM

Web Series: Indian Police Force

Cast: Sidharth Malhotra, Shilpa Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Nikitin Dheer, Sharad Kelkar, Shweta Tiwari, Isha Talwar, Vaidehi Parshurami, Mrinal Kulkarni

Director: Rohit Shetty and Sushwanth Prakash

OTT: Amazon Prime Video

Rating: 2 Moons

Rohit Shetty is one of the few filmmakers in Indian cinema who managed to represent the police force in the best way possible on celluloid. After over 20 years in the film industry, he has ventured into the digital space with yet another cop drama, Indian Police Force. The seven-episode show premiered today on Amazon Prime Video.

Indian Police Force orbits around Kabir Malik (Sidharth Malhotra), an officer working for the Delhi Police. He is under the guidance of Vikram Bakshi (Vivek Oberoi) and they share family-like relations. The first episode begins with a series of bomb blasts in various corners of Delhi and the cops come into action to stop the terrorist. While tracking down the culprit, Tara Shetty (Shilpa Shetty) is roped in to help the Delhi Police. Indian Police Force is about the mission to hunt down Zarar (Mayank Tandon).

It is a typical Rohit Shetty thriller drama with elements that have been utilised in the past as well. The filmmaker introduces his characters with ear-swelling, loud, siren-like music. He gives each one of them their private heroic moments but does this work? Definitely not. Rohit, known as the master of action, paints a larger canvas on OTT with Indian Police Force but vibrant colours and a variety of textures are missing.

Rohit has been entertaining the audience with his cop action films which have high-octane stunts backed by a strong emotional core. With Indian Police Force, the level of action choreography hits the lowest as chase and fight sequences don’t look natural and smooth-flowing. The story of the series seems slate and a rehash of thrillers made in the past. The creators certainly focus on exploring more of the cat-and-mouse chase between the protagonists and antagonist Zarar, but where’s the tension and intensity?

The opening sequence explains the concept of the show and highlights a destructive bomb blast. Since it is a Rohit Shetty creation, you will find cars as well as people flying in the air; this time due to the blasts. More than anything, clumsiness in the scene’s execution is visible prominently. The visual effects of fire are poorly done considering the scale of the series.

Indian Police Force has its heart in the right place and the intention is undoubtedly good but the lack of energy on-screen waters down the purpose. Wide-angle shots and long camera angles with drones panning the entire scenic location can work wonders. However, anything in excess can throw you out of the picture pretty fast. That's what happens here. Every episode has at least a couple of long shots that randomly focus on the surroundings.

What works in favour of Indian Police Forceis the final episode. It unfolds several possibilities of having multiple seasons with a stronger purpose. When cars fly, the series also soars. The songs within the show are shot beautifully. The depiction of a cop wife is brilliant. Another plus point is Rohit and his team of writers make characters humane. While the terrorist has his agenda, his wife is an antidote to his mindset. We wish this was explored in a better and detailed manner.

The duration of each episode is around 30-40 minutes on average, hence the flashback portions, emotional turmoil, conflicts, friendships, family relations, interpersonal relationships and loss are abruptly shown. There's limited breathing space for these subplots.

Sidharth Malhotra makes his series debut with Indian Police Force. While he is a handsome cop, the actor lacks the energy to pull off intense action sequences. In a scene on a yacht, Kabir Malik is bashing a bunch of baddies but the punches are clumsy. His expressions, punches and what unfolds on the screen don’t match. Though Sidharth does well in the brief emotional and romantic scenes. Tara Shetty refers to Kabir Malik as a ‘sarfira’ (crazy) cop but the level of craziness and power is below average.

Vivek Oberoi does a fantastic job but he is sadly underutilised. His screen presence is calming and wish there was more to him and his cop, Vikram Bakshi. Shilpa Shetty is the first female cop in Rohit’s universe. A lot was expected from her but she fails to deliver a memorable performance. Shilpa looks stunning; is that enough? We’ll leave that up to you. Her action sequences are bold but not brave enough. The surprise package is Mayank Tandon who plays Zarar. He is good and takes up a decent amount of screen space. Sharad Kelkar comes in late but his entry is worth sailing through 7 episodes. He is the true star of the show and we cannot wait to see his character develop in the next part.

The scale of Indian Police Force sets it apart from the other shows of its league. The sound design, though loud and familiar, works decently for the series. The cinematography is brilliant as it captures bylanes and exotic locations beautifully.

Indian Police Force attempts to be brave, bold and high on style and energy. However, it lacks the basic elements of entertainment and action by sticking to the routine story of good vs evil. With less or no newness, the show fails to connect and have an edge-of-the-seat experience.

Rohit Shetty's latest venture, ‘Indian Police Force,’ thrusts viewers into the tumultuous world of Delhi Police, grappling with a series of bombings orchestrated by the Indian Mujahideen. Helmed by Shetty himself, alongside Sushwanth Prakash, the series brings together a star-studded cast, featuring Sidharth Malhotra, Vivek Oberoi, and Shilpa Shetty, among others.

As the narrative unfolds, the Joint CP Vikram Bakshi IPS (Vivek Oberoi) and SP Kabir Malik IPS (Sidharth Malhotra) lead a special cell unit assigned to unravel the mysteries behind the orchestrated chaos.

The show kicks off with a gripping premise – a spate of bombings spreading panic across the national capital. The creators effectively capture the urgency and tension that accompanies such a crisis, drawing viewers into the heart of the investigation. The love that Sidharth Malhotra's determined Kabir Malik has towards his country and close ones, forms the crux of the series, supported by a cast that includes Shilpa Shetty, Vivek Oberoi, Mukesh Rishi, Sharad Kelkar and others.

One of the standout aspects of ‘Indian Police Force’ is its pulsating soundtrack composed by Lijo George and DJ Chetas. The music complements the high-octane sequences and adds a layer of intensity to the narrative. The creators effectively use sound to amplify suspense and drama, enhancing the overall viewing experience.

However, as the series progresses, it becomes evident that Rohit Shetty's penchant for over-the-top heroic portrayals is both a strength and a weakness. The intention behind showcasing larger-than-life characters with an unwavering commitment to justice is noble, but the execution often lapses into cringey and forced moments. Shetty's signature style, marked by grandiose action sequences and dramatic dialogues, occasionally overshadows the authenticity of the characters and their struggles.

While Sidharth Malhotra's portrayal of Kabir Malik is notable, offering a convincing blend of grit and vulnerability, Vivek Oberoi's performance as Vikram Bakshi falls a little short of expectations. Sharad Kelkar is the delightful twist you didn't see coming in the series. His endearing nickname for Nikitin Dheer's character, Rana – 'Bulldozer', is like a mini, cute comedy jackpot.

Tara Shetty played by Shilpa Shetty was a quirky casting pick! Initially, her lines felt a tad forced, but as the show rolled on, it just became better. The inclusion of Tara in the series adds a dynamic element to the ensemble and her performance injects freshness into the narrative.

This series also introduces us to Mayank Tandon’s Haider/Zarar, a new, globe-trotting villain who isn’t interested in terrorising just the national capital but also places like Darbhanga (Bihar) and Kanpur.

Indian Police Force still

Despite being Kabir's mentor-of-sorts, Oberoi's portrayal lacks the gravitas required for such a role. A stark contrast is observed when compared to Javed Jaffrey's impactful performance in ‘Sooryavanshi,’ (the fourth film of the Rohit Shetty cop universe) where the mentor character was portrayed with a nuanced touch, resonating with the audience on a deeper level. And, of course, not to forget, his great comedic timing.

The narrative, though riveting, occasionally succumbs to predictability, relying on well-worn tropes of the crime thriller genre. The series could benefit from more innovative storytelling choices and plot twists to elevate it beyond the standard fare. Additionally, the pacing falters in certain segments, causing the tension to ebb and flow inconsistently. The cinematography had its moments of brilliance, but occasionally got entangled in a web of choppy VFX (visual effects) and computer graphics faux pas.

Despite these shortcomings, ‘Indian Police Force’ manages to hold its own in the landscape of crime dramas.
