Is it indeed hard to handle an opinionated woman? If it were a man then Rani’s recent rant against the kannada director who was clearly rude and belittled her and Karan’s films would’ve been shared around like as if it were pearls of wisdom. For example , Vanga’s rant against the critics are being celebrated and wowed at .
But it’s Rani Mukerji who is already at a disadvantage because :
1) In spite of being the most risk taking versatile commercial actress , she’s married to Aditya Chopra:
The Misogynist society (including women ) often tend to ignore the talent of Rani Mukerji and associate her with being the Malkin of YRF. Her privilege supersedes her unique talent very easily and people are quick to jump to the conclusion “ Arrogant hai , YRF ki Malkin “ ..
2) Fiercely opinionated and not a people pleaser :
Rani clearly doesn’t listen to any PR and her answers in her interviews are not rehearsed. She can easily say things which are music to ears instead she chooses to be her authentic self and says things which are raw and not what you want to hear
3) Doesn’t clarify , keeps a low profile :
Clearly by now , people might have noticed that she shows up once in a blue moon at airports or some events . She doesn’t care what people think about her , does her thing and disappears. Till date , she hasn’t given any clarification on her round table views which IMO was a very different take on women safety albeit a bit myopic. She easily could have done a PR stunt as damage control like other actresses do .
4) Not so young :
Obviously there are some people who would call her views annoying as she’s not their 25 something hot thing. Age has a lot to do with how men especially value women in our society.
And yes she pronounced Kannada as Kannad. Frankly, it is not a crime and doesn’t dilute her opinion on Indian Cinema. If she feels it’s the best then it’s her strong opinion which you might or might not agree with.
