Watching an episode here and there, I always find it impossible to like any characters or suspend disbelief for this story. It has at least ten major problems. Correct me if I'm wrong about the details ...

1. Obscure/nonsensical motivations. What a long list!

Why couldn't Roshani introduce Nirbhay to Chandani before they became a couple?

Why was Sumer so ruthless to acquire Nirbhay's property?

What does Raunaq think Chandani did to Avantika?

Doesn't Sumer want revenge for Avantika?

How can Roshani blame Chandani for Nirbhay's death, when it was (1) Nirbhay who attempted insurance fraud without knowing how to use a lighter; (2) Natasha who committed arson; (3) Nirbhay and Roshani who fled from the law; (4) Yogi who shot Nirbhay at the exact moment that Yogi's head was bashed in by Roshani; and (5) Roshani who didn't ask Chandani and the police to take Nirbhay to a hospital?

Why doesn't Roshani blame Raunaq for instigating Nirbhay?

Why are Sumer and Roshani married to each other? How can such a powerful man as Sumer not know that Roshani was Nirbhay's girlfriend, Roshani killed Yogi etc.?

Why does Chandani need to marry Raunaq to watch over Roshani?

Shouldn't Gautam look for victims outside his wife's household?

2. Deliberate overacting. At the top of this list is Raunaq. He flips from faking concern to laughing/smirking diabolically ... abruptly contorts his face and loads his voice with guilt/empathy ... snaps out of it and starts to rant wildly ... and explains his feelings at length, either by voiceover thoughts or by talking to himself aloud. Each emotion is brought out separately, not integrated into one conflicted character.

Chandani also goes from serene to distraught in the same monologue when it would make more sense to express dignified sadness, bravery in despair, or some other consistent emotion.

Bindu is always hyperventilating. Vandana froths at the mouth. Sanjot is always livid. It's not that all of these actors don't know how to perform. They're being directed to overact, line by line, shot by shot.

3. Interchangeable villains. How many characters exist only to be mean to poor Chandani? Raj at first, Tarun, Vikas, Raunaq, Natasha, Roshani, Sanjot, Gautam. We never see these characters making their own lives better. They are simply foils for Chandani.

4. Chandani - a glutton for punishment. Why does Chandani insist on spending time with people who hate her? In scene after scene, Chandani takes abuse, cries about it, and says that she will endure even more, bring it on!

5. Roshani - unworthy of attention. Spiteful, destructive Roshani has no ambition beyond playing practical jokes. She looks like a child dressed up as a caricature of a mother-in-law. Chandani looks ridiculous expecting love from such a sister, and Sumer looks ridiculous expecting respectability with such a wife.

6. Raunaq - unsympathetic and unromantic. If Raunaq, while flirting with Chandani and partying with her grandmothers, had given us glimpses of his loneliness, missing Avi whenever he tried to have fun, I would have sympathized. Raunaq going home, ripping off his shirt, and shouting his real feelings to the mirror was a laughable parody of anguish.

I see Raunaq shedding tears for Nirbhay and immediately laughing at a video of Roshani disowning Chandani. What I don't see is Raunaq's sense of justice and retribution, trying to comfort his own grief by coldly observing Chandani's pain.

Raunaq as a broken soul unable to love anyone would have been romantic. Raunaq using Sumer for money and finding excuses to feel up Chandani is just creepy.

7. Sumer - poorly defined. Is he supposed to be cunning or clueless? Criminal or respectable? A doting father or indifferent? None of his scenes establishes his emotional investment in his relationships with Roshani, Raunaq, or Sanjot etc., so I don't care about those relationships.

8. No suspense. Chandani marrying Roshani's stepson two months into the show didn't have to be given away in promos before the show began! Sumeet Sachdev playing Sai Ketan Rao's character's father was announced before the characters even had names, so when Sumer's son being Raunaq was revealed to Roshani on screen, I yawned.

9. Cheap revenge. Can anyone who has suffered the incalculable loss of a young family member dying in real life relate to the trivial pranks by which characters pursue revenge on this show?

When characters like Raj and Tarun thought that Sanjay was responsible for the deaths of 40 children, they wanted Chandani to be unable to earn a living.

Raunaq's sister died slowly over two years, so he flirted with Chandani and set her up to catch her sister's boyfriend committing a crime.

Roshani wanted payback for Nirbhay's death, so she accused Chandani of stealing jewelry.

High stakes?

When will it occur to Raunaq that his responsibility for Nirbhay's death is equal to Chandani's responsibility for Avi's death? When Raunaq's tattoo that fades in different places as he perspires from scene to scene finally washes away completely, he can get a new tattoo of a triangle: Vikas (bereaved of his son by) Raunaq (bereaved of his sister by) Chandani (bereaved of her father by) Vikas!

10. Boring premise. An implacable mother-in-law sets traps for her earnest daughter-in-law. Does it matter that they are also sisters?

Which of these problems do you find bad enough to warrant cancellation of the show?

Now that the show ended I think it’s safe to give a review without being branded as a hater spreading negativity. Everything about this show is either bad or mediocre.

The casting in this show including the lead actors were Subpar. Story works with the target audience with good & sensible narrative and that takes some time, So it’s the actors and the characters that need to connect with target viewers first and they failed miserably. As you rightly pointed out,  the actors were overacting so much that they didn’t look a bit convincing and plot narrative was so random  that both the story & the characters looked fake,  especially the female lead, despite the story revolving around her character and she being in every scene, her character had no depth, the challenges she faced did not result in making any impact with the viewers, the reason is both the actor as well as how her story had been randomly set. Initially she looked pale and zoned out and later she started over emoting so much that almost all her scenes comes across as superficial. No offense but her overacting left nothing to be desired and most often was irritating. Her equation with the two grandmothers and her dad didn’t create any empathy coz of the poor directions and overacting by the actors, her and Raunak story initially was more like asmaan se tapka kajoor pe atka type, no head or tail and very illogical, The whole Raunak revenge plot was loosely written that it looks too silly. Similarly Roshni’s  revenge  against her also didn’t make sense. Since chandini being the central character and all the  equation she shared looked superficial the entire story was all over the places. The episodes lacked continuity and comes off more as filler episodes.

Two sisters becoming Saas bahu is a very regressive concept which was already tried in a couple of shows before but it never worked. And they revealed the entire plot with its reasoning  in initial promos itself so there was no intriguing factor in the narration which could hold audience interest.

Since the lead actors lacked the natural chemistry and their story didn’t have any emotional depth and their acting was so underwhelming they could not connect with the viewers and their interactions always looked forced. In an ITV show If the female lead and the leads chemistry fails to create impact with the viewers then there is no way the show can work.

Almost every department of this show underperformed right from casting, direction, characterization, story, editing. Except for the costume every other thing in this show was bad turned to worse. No wonder this show failed so badly coz they had nothing to offer to the viewers except for a lackluster show with forced intimacy. They either  overestimated themselves or underestimated the viewers which resulted in a flop show.

Sanjot twice said "my son" in the same breath as Nisha's name. The creative team is too lazy even to give her off-screen son a name!

Why? Even Sumer's ex-fiancée has a name: Kaveri. (Was she South Indian like Chitra? Does Sumer have a type?)

Assuming that actors are paid per episode, and supporting actors' contracts don't have a guaranteed number of episodes per week, it looks like the production house is desperately trying to cut costs by trimming the cast down to Chandani, Raunaq, Sanjot, Nisha, Manav, Vandana, and Vimala. And dragging out the story. Sumer was in two previews of the same scene; maybe he'll only return for the final episode, keeping Roshani off-screen, powdering her nose.

The nonstop Raunaq drunk scenes serve no purpose except to pander to Sai Ketan Rao's fans who can't get enough of them. The actor himself might prefer action scenes, but how can he have those without extras? With Sanjot, Vandana, and Vimala?

Raunaq is flirting with Chandani, drinking with her, kissing her, sleeping in her arms ... but the May 19 episode ended with "How did Avantika die?" and the entire May 20 episode dodged the question, with Raunaq back to "I hate Chandani."

Will Sandiip Sikcand just leave this misunderstanding and the Roshani/Sumer marriage plot hole unresolved to the end, and mock viewers in an Instagram live: "Avantika is gone! Why do you want to know about her? First give me TRP and then I'll tell a better story."

Or, will the final scene be Raunaq on his deathbed, surrounded by children and grandchildren, while Chandani holds his hand, bats her false eyelashes, and pleads with him not to leave her ... in suspense?

Well in my opinion Sandip never had proper story for this Sugar Syrup  😂  its one line story

Behan bani Saas💯

Fine ITV esp Hindi Daily always or some cases has this one line story but its Creatives or writers who write such a script build up character... Back story.... Going forward etc

Here neither story nor script was proper. As per social media... What fans follow entire process from day its announced..... Many witness Shoot begin from Dec suddenly in mid of Jan shoot was stopped for good 15  days minimum 🤷🏻‍♀️ Why.... Clearly script was not ready... Then one month back they again changed the CV script and introduced so called leap 😂

So Sandip never had proper story 💯 from day one... No wonder only Sai Ketan was sign way back in Aug 2022...leading lady casting was delayed... As many rejected as per news some authentic news as well like TOI

Unlike MHRW... Which was certainly not unusual story but the execution way characters was placed esp side character 💯 top level Direction was again 💯.. Entire begind camera team was excellent unlike Sugar Syrup all were mediocre some are regular with ph but clearly production value was below avg 💯

Side character artist were equally bad.... First month they all get footage extra footage all they do is ott acting.....

Serial never look interesting from promo it self.... So nothing shocking it axed infact one month extra they air 😂 it shd have axed last month only
