The scene starts the next day after Karan is back.

Monami’s dorm room
It was way past 7 am when Monami began to stir in her sleep. Her eyelids were disturbed by the rays of sunlight that penetrated from the window and unable to sleep any further, she flipped her eyes open, smiling slightly.
Something flashed into her mind and she immediately hid her eyes behind her fists, rubbing them like she had been dreaming. Monami’s mind wondered, "Kal jo kuch bhi hua woh ek sapna tha? Karan wapas kaise aa sakta hai, mujhe pata tha, mujhe pata tha maine yeh sab imagine kiya tha!"
She was highly distressed, pacing around the room with a mixture of sadness and disappointment. Resignedly, sighing at her own fate, she got ready and made her way to the mess for some breakfast.
She sat beside Sid, looking rather subdued when he greeted her, "Supp Monu Bro, kal pura din kahan thi tu?"
"Sid main bas aise hi academy ke bahar gayi thi, momos khaane" answered Monami sadly while thinking about all the moments she imagined with her Khadoos Shergill.
Karan (who is pretending to be Balli) entered the mess and his eyes were only searching for one person. On spotting her, he made his way to her instinctively when he realized that there were others around them. Stopping himself, he made his way to get food and smiled at her brightly as she looked at him. She ignored his smile and looked the other way while trying to chat up with Sid. Karan frowned at her behaviour thinking, "Ab isse kya hogaya, kal tak mujhe dekh ke kaafi khush thi aur ab mujhe ignore kar rahi hai"
While he made several attempts to catch her eye, she constantly avoided his gaze and finally walked out of the mess as she was done. Following her suit, he tailed her up to the terrace. Before she could react, he pulled her close to him with his arms around her.
"Balli, yeh kya badtameezi hai, tum pagal ho gaye ho!?" shouted Monami, trying to escape from his hold.
"Monami, tum yeh kya kar rahi hai?" asked Karan, puzzled at her behaviour.
"Balli, tum mujhse pooch rahe ho, tum kya kar rahe ho, chodo mujhe, aur yeh Karan ki tarah kyun baat kar rahe ho? Dekho main kal ke din ke baad already pareshaan hoon, tum aur pareshaan mat karo" reprimanded Monami, wiggling out of his hold.
"Kal ke din ke baad tum pareshaan kyun ho par?" retorted Karan getting confused.
"Kyun ki kal maine sapna dekha ki Karan wapas aagaya hai, aur woh zinda hai, aur mujhe pata hai aise kuch nahi hota hai, main humesha ki tarah apne imagination mein kho gayi thi" said Monami sadly, trying to hide the lone tear that escaped her eye.
He burst out laughing looking at his sweet and innocent Monami, much to her annoyance. His face suddenly turned soft, losing the confused expression. He finally understood what had happened. Monami had thought he was a figment of her imagination because she had dreamt of him and his presence several times before. With a sad smile, he looked at her lovingly, thinking how had he gotten so lucky with her? Karan knew he would have to make up for a lost time, he would have to make sure he would relieve her from all the pain she had to go through because of him.
He held her by her waist from one hand and his other hand reached out for hers and he placed her hand over his heart saying, "Raanisaheba, mere dil dhadkan ko mehsoos kijiye, yeh aapko sab sacch bata dega"
The racing beat of his heart pulsating under her fingertips and her heartbeats started to race along with his. She looked at him intently and it dawned upon her that he truly was here.
"Ab toh tum yakeen hogaya na? Waise bhi yeh dil sirf tumhaare liye aur tumhaare wajah se hi toh dhadakta hai. Agar abhi bhi yakeen nahi hai, toh mere paas aur bhi tareeke hai tumhe yeh prove karne ke liye" whispered Karan leaning closer to her, looking at her with a glint of love and mischief.
Tears welled up in Monami’s eyes and she trembled saying, "Kar-ran… tum sacch mein wapas aagaye, mujhe toh laga main koi sapna dekh rahi thi kal, main tumhe bata nahi sakti Karan maine aise sapne kahin baar dekh ke hai, maine kabhi socha nahi tha ki tum mere saamne sahi salamat wapas khade miloge"
"Monami, main itne dino ke baad wapas aaya hoon aur tum mujhe dekh ke rone lagi, tumhe toh smile karna chahiye" said Karan, wiping off her tears and indicating her to smile.
He squeezed her hands in his, assuring her that he is here and he will be with her as she smiled at him. He noticed the ring on her finger and held her hand asking, "Yeh ring? Meri mom ka hai"
"I know tumne kabhi pehnaaya nahi, par maine apna samajhke pehen liya, ab yeh humesha mere paas rahega aur main tumhaare paas" said Monami smiling brightly causing Karan’s face to lit up.
Karan starts getting down on one knee and holds his hand out to her when she asks, “Yeh kya kar rahe ho tum”
He smiles and says, “Wahi jo bohut pehle kar dena chahiye tha” indicating her to hand him the ring.
She nods in understanding and hands him over the ring while he holds it out and speaks, “Tune meri bohut madad ki hai yaar, mujhe naa sahi Monami tujhe toh haan bol hi degi” grinning confidently while she chuckles lightly.
He takes a moment, a deep breathe and looks up to her with love saying, “Dr Monami Mahajan, main jaanta hoon aapne bohut patients ka ilaaj kiya hoga, par kya iss ek patient ka ilaaj saare zindagi karna chahengi, I love you Monami, Will you marry me?”
She couldn’t believe the moment was finally here. The moment she had dreamt of, the moment she had wished for, yearned for, the hope she had locked away in her heart thinking it would never come. She had convinced herself, picked up the broken pieces when she thought Karan was gone forever, and decided she would live for his love. But now, here he was kneeling in front of her and claiming that he wants to marry her. If this wasn’t a fairytale, then what is?
Karan broke her train of thought, by raising his eyebrows at her asking for a response, when she smiled as brightly as she could and said, “Yes! Yesss!” nodding her head as he slipped the ring into her finger. Her eyes started to tear up and she sobbed as he pulled her into an embrace and kissed her on the head, as he held her closely smiling saying, “Kamaal hai, mujhe laga tha, propasal sun ke tum khush hogi, tum toh rone lagi”
“Bohut khush hoon Karan, maine kabhi nahi socha tha ki tumhaare saath yeh moment jee paaongi” she said, while his face turned a little grave, understanding the depth of her pain and fear.
He broke the hug, but didn’t let go of her, held her in her arms and looked at her intently, “Jaanta hoon, iss liye marne ka plan cancel kiya hai, wapas aa gaya tumhaare liye” and kissed her on the forehead.
“Mujhe pata hai tumhe mere jaane se bohut takleef hui hai, par main humesha tumhaare saath hi rahoonga Monami, iss liye tum yeh kabhi mat sochna ki maine tumhe akela chod diya, okay?” said Karan, leaning closer to her so that their noses are touching. She nodded in response smiling and saying, “I love you” making his smile reach his eyes as he said, “I love you too”.
