Karan-Monami's Journey
This story is about Special Agent Karan Shergill & Dr.Monami Mahajan.
Karan Shergill is a man of few words, someone for whom rules & regulations meant everything. He didnโt give a damn about what others thought of him & was known as โUlti Khopdiโ.
He lost his brother in a mission for rescuing some rich kids and developed hatred for rich people and felt guilty of not being able to save his brother.
Monami came from this rich world. She had everything in life except two things she wanted the most, love & acceptance. She wanted to become an Army doctor like her mother but knew it would be difficult to convince her father. She was a girl who always looked for best in everyone buthad a very low self-esteem.
There begins the story of Karan & Monami.
They both generated sparks in the first meeting and not of good kind. She thought he was a thief and they both had a fight. Karan couldnโt believe that someone would think of him as a thief and still try to stand against him & fight.
He was shocked when he realised that she would also be joining the academy. He knew her background and thought that she had just joined the academy to do time pass, after all that is what all rich, privileged kids did whenthey were bored. But he knew that โRani Sahibaโ wouldnโt survive here.
He hated the world she came from, then why did he feel attracted to her..? He knew that she & her friend were just making fools out of everyone. He hated liars and she just kept proving his belief about rich people right.
Monami might have looked meek but she had inner strength and she fought for her friend ,even after knowing that it would cost her, her dream. She accused Karan of two timing and went to war for her friend, so it shook her when she realised that she had assumed everything wrong about Karan. He was not the man she thought him to be. He was a totally different person. She had unknowingly threatened one person he valued the most in the world, his niece. He was an island, his world only including his brotherโs family & his Army commandos.
Then came the organ trafficking track which changed the dynamics between the two. Karan realised that he might have misunderstood her. She valued her profession & was determined to save lives, even at the risk of her own life.
He protected her & took a bullet for her. He took responsibility for the entire operation, knowing that it could cost him his career as he was already suspended.
It was then that Monami fell in love with him. She saw a man who might act tough but was soft inside. A leader who always stood for what was right, irrespective of the consequences, who had so much love and care in him but was afraid to show it to the world.
First love is always special because everything feels so different. You always want to be around that person, want him to look at you as if you are special to him, want him to be proud of you. So many feelings, so many emotions. Monami was in a bubble where everything seemed so nice & bright. Everything was beautiful. But was it?
While Monami was enjoying her feeling of first love, she was unaware of the inner turmoil which Karan was going through.
He kept reliving the nightmare of not being able to save his brother and ended up shooting Monami.
It shattered him. He failed his brother and he even failed her. He failed as a commando. He was engulfed in grief. He wanted to bepunished. It was his fault she was fighting for her life. He had accused her of being judgemental but he had been totally wrong. She was no โRani Sahibaโ, she had fought for her dreams, she was not weak, undecisive, she was not a failure. With every word her father spoke against her character, he realised how strong she was, he had just been too blinded by his presumptions to see her.
He needed to be punished by her but it shook him when she said that it was not his fault.
She had a choice to make. Her dreams or Karan and academy. She would not let other peopleโs dreams be broken because of her. She would accept defeat and walk away from him, her dreams.
He could not tolerate her leaving and punished himself. It was his fault that she had walked away from her dreams.
Karan realised that her decisions had something to do with him and he came back for her. He fought with her father & took a stand for her and there she fell a bit more in love with him.
No one had ever taken a stand for her, fought for her, protected her. No one had ever seen her as worthy enough. He saw himself as a broken man but she saw him as someone worthy of love.
Her love confession shocked him. How could someone love him. He was not worthy of anyoneโs love. Love had no place in his life. Love only brought pain. His brother had been everything to him & losing him left a gaping hole behind. He only lived for his brotherโs family. He explained that his brother was everything to him & after he died, a part of him died with him and he had nothing to offer her.
โI just hope tumhe aisa insan mile, jisse tum woh sab baatein share kar sako, jisse khud bhi bhaagte ho..โ
โI hope tum kisi din mujh par bharosa kar pao, mujhse apne saare dard share kar paoโ
She accepted it & freed him from her love, he should have been happy, then why did he feel soempty inside? Why did her absence affect him so much?
Why did he want her to be as she was before, running around him, making him smile, doing funny antics? She said they should start afresh. Then why did a new beginning feel like an end to him?
Her distance bothered him. He again wanted to be surrounded by her presence but everything had changed. She had confessed and now nothing looked the same. He could no longer act as if nothing had happened. He could not start afresh. It pricked him when she acted like a stranger to him.
He didnโt want to want her. He didnโt need her. He kept denying that he was in love with her. Love had no place in his life. But try as he might, he couldnโt convince himself. It was her that he saw when he closed his eyes, she made his heart race. His heart and mind warred with each other.
โMain khud ko tumhare liye feel nahi karne de saktaโ
He saw the chandelier about to fall on her and everything came back in focus. He realised that she had already become his heartbeat. She had already become part of his world. He had not realised that she had already started lighting up all dark corners of his heart.
He finally accepted what his heart had been telling him all the while, he was in love with Monami.
โMain pyaar karta huin usse..I love her, I just love herโ
But sometimes life gives you lemons. He was too late in confessing and her friend came into the picture. Another man who loved his Monami. He did not like seeing her with someone else, giving someone else attention, spending time with someone else. Did she not love him anymore, had their story ended before it began? Had he already lost her to someone else?
Why couldnโt she see that he loved her, that the other person was playing games.
Monami couldnโt understand Karanโs change of behavior. He had always been calm & practical and now he was behaving weirdly. She couldn't understand why he had problem with her friend. He said that she didnโt trust him but did he not realise that she had always trusted him. He had always been the first person she went to when there was problem. He soothed her. He calmed her. He was her anchor. She could fight with him, be annoyed with him but she would always go to him only. He always made everything become right.
He said he didnโt love her but his actions always screamed his love for her. They were trapped in a cave but she felt safe with him because she knew that he would always protect her.
Maybe he would never say the words, she would still feel bad about it but accept it, whatever be the circumstances but atleast he was hugging her tightly as she had always wanted, as if she was his world, as if he was holding something precious and maybe that would be enough for her.
He could not bear her talking as if she meant nothing to him, because she did. She was his world. She was everything. She was light to his darkness. She made him feel alive. She was balm to his wounds. She was his heartbeat. He finally confessed
โMain tumse bahut, bahut zyaada pyaar karta huin..I really, really love youโ
โJaise koi kinaara
Deta ho sahaara
Mujhe wo mila kisi mod par
Koi raat ka taara
Karta ho ujaala
Waise hi roshan kare woh shehar
Dard mere woh bhula hi gayaa
Kuch aisa asar huaa
Jeena mujhe phir se woh sikha raha
Hmm.. Jaise baarish kar de tar
Yaa marham dard par
Koi mujhko yun mila hai
Jaise banjaare ko ghar
Naye mausam ki sehar
Yaa sard mein dopahar
Koi mujhko yun mila hai
Jaise banjaare ko gharโ
While he was so happy to finally confess his love, she had been too sick to comprehend to his words. It saddened him that once again he had failed to confess his love.
There was a bomb in the academy and he sent everyone away for their safety. He was the leader. It was his duty to protect everyone.
She knew that something was wrong and he was all alone. She knew he could handle it but she could not leave him all alone. She might not be able to do anything but she could stand next to him & support him.
The bomber held his life at gunpoint but he could not lose focus. He had to be a commando & not a lover. His one misstep would take her away from him.
He controlled himself and only let go when the situation wasin control. He ran to her & held her tightly in his arms, assuring himself & her that she was fine and safe.
She remembered. She remembered everything he said in cave. He loved her, she couldnโt believe that he loved her, that he hadfinally confessed. She smiled & asked him again..
โDo you love me..?โ
And finally, finally they both were on the same page andconfessed their love.
โLove you, Monami..Really, really love you..
I love you too, Khadoos Shergill ..โ
Karan who had always shown his tough exterior made himself vulnerable and confessed that he could not live without her. She had become his everything.
Both broken in different ways, but somehow like pieces of a puzzle who would complete each other.
Karan, an excellent commando but someone who saw himself unworthy of love & happiness, who always kept himself closed off from everyone, who pushed people away, who had destined an empty and bleak life for himself; finally found his life and reason to live.
Monami, someone who had always looked for good in everyone but was someone who saw herself as unworthy, who was lonely & unloved, finally found someone who loved her for who she was, respected her dreams and uplifted her.
This was just the beginning. They still had a long way to go, many hurdles to face .They would fight, be angry with each other but always, always come back to each other.

Boy meets girl. Girl meets boy. They fell in love.
A lifetime happened. Misunderstandings cleared, prejudices flayed, hatred soothed and a love story was born.
From strangers to dating, from hatred to love, from a cadet to his girlfriend, from a trainer to his boyfriend, here's the journey of Special Agent Karan Shergill and Doctor Monami Mahajan.
First sight. First meeting. First misunderstanding.
'Tum samajhte kya ho apne aap ko? Chota hai toh chaaku dikha kar daraoge tum? Himmat hai toh mujhe daraakar dikhao!'
'Hello ma'am, main koi chor nahi hoon. Ek officer hoon.'
Misunderstandings resulted in a rocky start. They had no plans to meet each other ever again, but as they say, destiny had other plans.
'Yeh hain humaare Sir ji, Special Agent Karan Shergill.'
'Humne Ustaad ji ki list check kari thi. Doctor hai. Monami naam hai. Lekin humaare hisaab se uska naam Monami nahi, Tsunami hona chahiye.'
A bad first impression, a trek, a little pleading and a hilarious conversation later, Doctor Monami Monami was Special Agent Karan Shergill's cadet.
Another misunderstanding and the dislike dove deeper. Hatred.
She was a spoiled, privileged brat who treated the academy as an outdoor adventure camp.
He was a heartless, khadoos, arrogant special trainer who could go as far as torture someone for a mistake.
Only, they weren't.
An unplanned mission, a life threatening stand, and a commaradie of the battlefield and perspectives changed, situations changed, relationships changed.
'Mere hisaab se pata hai tum kaun ho? Selfless, brave and kind. That's what you are, Monami. Thoda credit khud ko bhi dena chahiye.'
'Sir, main Karan ko Khadoos Shergill kaha karti thi. But I was wrong. Unhe apni cadets ki bahut chinta hai.'
A shaky truce. A liking. A hero for Monami but an enigma for Karan. The euphoria dispersed slightly as reality smacked them in the face.
'You know what? Main aur Sid kuch bhi kar le, par tumhaare liye hum hamesha un rich, spoiled privileged logon ki tarah hi rahenge jinki wajah se tumhaara bhai ki death hui thi.'
'Haan! Rahogi! Kyunki tum ho unhi rich, spoiled, privileged kids jaise jinhe zindagi mein sab kuch itni asaani se mila hai ki kisi ki jaan tak ki parwaah nahi.'
Destiny threw them together again when a past turmoil resulted in a present crime-cum-mistake. Out of the mess of blood and tears sprang understanding and easy acceptance.
'Monami... jo kuch bhi hua... main kitni bhi maafi maang lo, wo kaafi nahi hai.'
'Jab tumhaari koi galti hai hi nahi, toh maafi kis baat ki?'
Misunderstandings and prejudice washed away in the blood of the gun wound, and all that remained was mutual respect and a sense of protectiveness for each other.
'Main apni selfishness ke liye uske dreams ruin nahi kar sakti, Sid!'
'Aapko jo karna hai, aap kijiye. Sue karna, kijiye. Case karna, kijiye. Enquiry baithaani, baithaiye. Par Monami abhi, isi waqt, mere saath, academy waapas jaa rahi hai.'
And so, things finally steadied back in their rocky ship, the waves calming down and a sense of comfort and ease with each other sailed their ship.
She was in love. High. Giddy.
He was oblivious. Clueless.
Their dynamics changed, their relationship changed. It grew deeper. Where once was misunderstanding, now came easy trust. Where once was prejudice, now came easy acceptance. Where once they stood face to face glaring at each other, now they stood side by side, ready to face the world.
Sorry isliye kyunki maine tumhe unhi rich, privileged kids ki tarah samjha jinki wajah se... Param Bhaiya... par tum waisi ho nahi. Tum unke jaisi bilkul nahi ho. Aur galti meri hai ki main har ek privileged kid ko ek hi jaisa samajhta aaya hoon. You are different. You are special.'
'Phir baad mein pata chala itne bhi bure nahi ho. Matlab, tum achhe ho. Actually, sirf achhe nahi. Tum bahut, bahut, bahut achhe ho. And I... I... I really... I really, really, really like you.
'Dosti ka pehla kadam bhi toh bharosa hi hota hai. Aur Gappu se keh dena ki ab se academy mein tumhaare teen dost hain.'
'Karan, mera trust kabhi nahi todhega. I trust him. Wo bahar se dikhta strict hai, par andar se bahut zyaada caring hai.'
But as they say, if you fly too high, you're going to fall just as hard. It couldn't be truer for Monami.
'I love you, Karan Shergill.'
'Monami, yeh ho nahi sakta.'
Misunderstandings soared again, and this time, it was pain that outshone through with the anger.
Monami's confession shook their world, forcing them both off the uphill path of the mountain of their relationship and pushing them into the ditch of heartbreak and pain. Tears shed, blood flew, pain soared, their relation plunged.
'Tumhe kya farak padta hai? Tum toh kuchh bhi feel nahi karte, na, mere liye?'
'Monami, tumhe samajh kyun nahi aata?'
But the explanation of the mission that changed Karan Shergill forever was the bridge back from the ditch they had fallen into and they pulled themselves back on the mountain.
Their dynamics changed again, their relationship changed again. From cadet-trainer to friends to practically strangers.
A fresh start, that was what they wanted. A giddy teenage love crush phase was what they got.
Confused eyes. Red cheeks. Stumbling words.
And then... a chandelier.
And his world flipped. Again.
'Agar use kuchh ho jaata, na, toh main mar jaata, yaar!'
He was in love. Special Agent Karan Shergill was in love. Utterly, hopelessly and deeply in love with Doctor Monami Mahajan.
Love is in the air. And so is so much more. Jealousy, frustration, misunderstandings.
But amidst their misunderstandings, destiny strikes again. A disaster brought them together, and while they were busy knocking on the door of death, their love came knocking too.
'Sunn rahi hoon jo shayad tum kabhi nahi bologe.'
'Main tumse bahut zyaada pyaar karta hoon. I really, really love you.'
A hilarious, little memory tugging game and a near death situation later, the magnets met.
'I love you, Monami. I really, really love you.'
'I love you too, Khadoos Shergill.'
And so, their dynamics changed again. Their relation changed.
Dating. That's what they were doing. Boyfriend-girlfriend. That's what they were.
From cadet-trainer to friends to practically strangers to dating, it has been a journey and a breathtakingly beautiful one.
'Hum jahan bhi jaate, saath jaate, right? Par abhi bhi toh hum saath mein hain. Main yahin khush hoon.'
'Ek cheez hai jiske bina main bhi nahi reh sakta hoon. Tum.'
Boy met girl. Girls met boy. They fell in love.
And magic happened...
