I think both were not fair with one other, just for the portion abhay dated alina and later broke her heart. He was lucky ke , writers don't turn her evil.
Piya for protection or whatever reason was that , doing what abhay tell her so, it was fair enough.

Remember he insulted alina for having feelings for abhay in front of her. That should have hit home.
