Chehre movie review: An undercooked, stodgy plot spoils the Emraan Hashmi, Amitabh Bachchan starrer

Arrayed in front of judge, jury and executioner, a deluded man being confronted with his real self should have been a rivetting experience. But I have to sympathise with a character who says: main thak gaya hoon, pak gaya hoon, jaane do mujhe. Or words to that effect. We hear you, bud.

Chehre Review: Amitabh Bachchan Hogs The Footage In Whiny, Preachy Film

Rating: 1 star (out of 5)

Chehre Review: Despite the half-baked character he is saddled with, Emraan Hashmi provide flashes of what he is capable of. Raghubir Yadav makes every glance and every line count.

Chehre movie review: Amitabh Bachchan-Emraan Hashmi's thriller resorts to preachy theatrics, wastes a good idea Chehre can't be called a thrilling courtroom drama. So let's just say that Rumi Jafry has attempted something out of his comfort zone, but his film is merely watchable.

Based on a 1956 novel A Dangerous Game written by the Swiss author Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Chehre finally hit the screens after almost 2 years.

The movie could have been another another thrilling court room drama like PINK, but turns out to be bland due to poor screenplay.

The movie had everything on its side be the story or actors, but due to poor screenplay, dialogues and direction the movie does not excite its viewers.

For any suspense, drama to work it needs edge of seat kind of scene execution but here most of the times the actors just sleep walks with whatever lame dialogues they were given.

Amitabh and Emraan tries very had to save from the disaster with their improvised performances but due to its bland screenplay everything goes into waste.

The biggest culprit which spoils the momentum of the movie is the second half.  Its unwanted songs, not at all creative execution of flashbacks and above all Amitabh Bachchan's more than 10 minutes monologue trying to do PINK again. The monologue looks so out of context and its damn long.

Performance wise Emraan has given his best, at times even outshines BIG B. Anu Kapoor is OKish as loud Punjabi. Rhea is wasted. She needs to learn ACTING 101, seriously what was she doing in the movie.

Another aspect apart from cinematography which has led me down is Background score which is vital for suspense drama kind of movie, but there were none which could be remembered.

2/5 Stars.
