The episode starts with Ahilya meeting Sarja and asking about Renu. Ahilya's devar comes there asking what to do, as Khanderao isn't around and he is bored. Ahilya suggests showing the mahal. He doesn't want to see it again, he asks if there's something new/interesting to do. He sees Renu's painting and comes in her room. He appreciates her art and asks how she made the colours.
Ahilya introduces her and Renu shows her tricks of colours. He makes a tree.
Ahilya comes running into the mahal. She meets Harkubai and says she's very happy and rushed to the temple.
Harkubai has a wierd feeling but hopes for the best.
Ahilya shares her idea with Mama and Mami. Mami is enraged and comes to the durbar of all queens. She tells how this idea is against the rules of society and she would not want such darkness in her child's life.
Ahilya tries to reason that a man in her village remarried so why can't Renu.
Dwarkabai scolds her saying he's a man. These rules don't apply to them.
Mama is also angry and questions Gautama about her smart daughter-in-law.
Ahilya tries to defend herself when Banabai says she's trying to equate herself to Malharrao. Harkubai tries to defend but is shut down by Dwarkabai.
Banabai says that they will tell Malharrao to stop her education.
This enrages Gautama and she
Renu has an outburst and tells Ahilya to stop worrying about her.
Gautama and Harku talk about the wild ideas of Ahilya and how they need to tame her. She cannot go against the society and it's rules.
Ahilya is in the temple again where Guruji comes and asks her what is wrong. Guruji tells that these things have been going on for centuries and someone very powerful will someday be able to change it. Ahilya feels inspired.
The title song of Ahilya plays in background.
Sitabai laughs at the widow remarriage idea. Dwarkabai says that her wild and rebellious thoughts are dangerous.
Ahilya comes to the river and talks to the Sun, promising that she will spearhead the change the society needs.
A very powerful speech indeed.
