Blast from the Past:10 Years? Unbelievable!

Posted: 2 years ago

We thought we were done, but clearly, we aren't

They rule our hearts,  it is so apparent

Arnav and Khushi, names that are inherent

In a show, unparalleled by, past or current

So hop on once more, onto the blasters' tide

As we take you on a whirlwind ride

To us, our threads, are our pearls of pride

Still, lots to talk, about Chote and his bride

Image

'10 years? Unbelievable!', the blasters sigh

Celebration is a must, the spirits are high

The gals are back weaving a brand new thread

Welcome to BFTP, reveling every step as you tread

Ten Years? Unbelievable!

When your heart can sense the rhythm of emotions, the beat makes you dance on its tunes, and your feet carry you to the place you belong to be. Didn't this happen to the two souls when messengers of love...pigeons played the role of a cupid. The wheels and gears were zooming from earth to air to bring them together

ImageImage

 Destiny was rolling its own dice to bring the bride to its groom. That's when you know there is no letting this moment go, no matter what... it's time for looking up or down, with an ego and pride, time to look into eyes and deny what you felt the very first time.

Deals were in the files, both with a piece of baggage. One was throwing his past baggage on the one who threw it on a little ASR and the other petite form was trying to get relief from the person who was ready to chain her sister and her family with baggage for the rest of their lives. In between all of this both were at the same place, feeling each other, or something. She looks up and here he was circling or protecting his assets from thugs of life.

ImageImage

Ek Kahani starts at the moment, carries you in a warm embrace, throws you in a fling of passion, catches you back in a hungry clasp, and their wheels roll onto the road with a force of gravity. The pull never got rest since then. Months later two strangers were dancing with each other confessing how strange this Pyar ki Kahani [ story ] was. This time his hand behind her head even she dips so low, testing his limits to let her fall but his hand knew better how to keep her safe no matter what. He tested her limits by throwing her in the air over his shoulders caressing her lean form with his. Then raised the bars to keep her in his embrace, kissing her with his breath just to let her shed all of her fears and complaints...telling her that this is Teri Meri Kahani...just to write a pyar ki ek daastan...an unforgettable love story.

“It seemed like forever ago, like we've had this brief but still infinite forever. Some infinities are bigger than other infinities.”? ~ John Green~

Has it been only ten years? feels like we've known iss pyaar ko kya naam doon? like forever. In this world full of temporary things, Ipk gives us a perpetual feeling. Forever moment that we are not ready to end even now. Unbelievable. The perimeter of obsession never came down and took a different shape instead.

UNBELIEVABLE!

ImageImage

Aasman see aya farishta

pyaar ka sabaq sikhlane

[An angel came from the sky

to teach you a lesson of love]

What? What am I talking about here? He was no angel.

He was Shaitan[ Satan] Khushi's Prince vs Satan. But did he teach the lesson of love?

Well, we all know he was the one who wrote the destiny of his and hers. Who thought that a man in black will take off his aviators to make such a deal to rule the globe while a crazy woman with a helmet on will ride that slogan by signing that deal with this tycoon by herself. Welcome to the hell! Unbelievable man!

Where this couple came from? From heaven or hell?

Dil main hai tasweer yaar ki

aya hoon wo dikhlane

[ I have a pic of lover in my heart

and I am here to show you all]

Oh, he showed the glimpse of hell flashing her falling in his arms all over the globe. He told the entire universe, here she is. She was no less and made a deal with superpower Devi Maiya to see him once, just one to pound his meat and flesh instead. How could he dare only?

She left him in Lucknow...smiley1

He left her in Lucknow...smiley3

Really?

His aviators came down again but this time with a defeat and with an "Unbelievable!" look. Oh, she was in the same scooter, I mean boat. But one thing was sure this time, they both challenged each other for life, every time they faced each other.

She claimed...."Hum apka sara nuqsaan chuka dainge"[ I will repay each penny for your entire loss]

He declared..."Dekhte hain, tum bhi yaheen ho aur main bhi" [ We'll see. You are here and I am here too]

She swore..."Jeet humari hogi, chahe haal behaal hon" [ We will win no matter what?]

He asserted..."Tum ASR nahin ban sakti" [You can't be ASR]

ImageImage

[Nuqsaan, chot, dard,dhoka aur be aitbari ]

Loss, wound, pain, betrayal, and disbelief were the main ingredients this ASR turned into a modern "Prometheus" god of fire. His intellectual side was emphasized by his name. Deep like the ocean and a fore-thinker.A master who learned to craft destiny and creation of mortal surroundings, beholding the wretch- the miserable monster whom he had created.

But even Greek gods have Aphrodite and this man ASR got his... The Crazy woman with a big smile and her name was Khushi.

Image

Oh, he hated those lips with a smile and daring eyes or more of dreaming eyes. Those challenging avatar of her was crumbling his self-proclaimed empire of beliefs.

Did she care about angry khadoos also known as Mr. Laad Governor?

Nah, She was a dreamer. She was the one who could only find her way by moonlight with a cup of tea. Her punishment was that she could see the dawn before the rest of the world.

You know why?

Because he was there in her dreams to wake her up.smiley36 but her sword was out the moment she was up.

Understood! She gave two hoots to your "Ms.Gupta" after waking up, you know? Any thug or gangster is better than you Mr.

Image

The great man did everything he could to make Aphrodite's life one big hell but in return, he was burning himself. The very first time this "Chot" felt different when her life felt in danger in the guesthouse. He was melting instead. She was becoming the healer of his broken and fiery soul.

But he remained in power... Power of hell for her and for himself too.

The more he gave her wounds, the more he got in return cutting through his soul until the vicious cycle broke its hell. He rose from ashes but the ego never seized. In the game of ice and fire, both realized what mattered the most.

Image

Did she ever surrender?

She reminded him with each wound daring him more. Don't forget, real beauty is in the fragility of rose petals. A rose that never wilts isn't a rose at all. She took all that he threw at her.

"Don't you dare show me your back Mr.Raizada..."

Image

_ and he bowed down, accepted, confessed, and took an oath to make things "Right". His soul jolted when he felt her lifeless form in his arms, her silent lips without a smile, and closed eyes without throwing any deal or a dare back at him.

She became his biggest deal and he declared. What he had burnt, broke, and tore, he held the power to heal. He was the keeper of fragile things and he had kept of her that was indissoluble.

Prometheus became a true prince of his lady love.

Image

Didn't she say she will change all the losses with the profit no matter what? She declared the winner of their love way before even realizing it.

Thumbs down Mr.Raizada!

Well, she had no idea she was the winner because he made sure of it.

Unbelievable!

Image

Ipkknd, a winner over the globe yet the winner of our hearts. That's more like it.

Happy 10th Anniversary everyone!

News update:

'What the..., unbelievable!', Arnav exclaimed and threw his mobile on the bed. 'Hey Devi Maiyya, dus saal ho gaye?, It's been 10 years?', a shocked Khushi said pacing up and down the room. 'Hai re Nand Kissore,' Buaji held her head and sighed watching her Sankadevi go bonkers yet again. Buaji's voice still gives him jitters, so NK left the room to see what Di and Nani were doing. Nani was giving instructions to the Prakash brothers and Di was decorating the Pooja room and her pooja thali. 'Hello hi bye bye', Mami greeted NK, but realising that there is work to be done, quickly left for her room to do makeuppiya and touchuppiya. Akash and Payal came down to lend a hand.  'Amma and Babuji will be here soon', Payal informed Naani. Mamaji sent a message to all reminding about that evening's video call.

The above scenes were observed at Shantivan upon realisation of the family members that it has been ten years since Arnav first met Khushi. ASR is exasperated at his family members who tend to make a celebration of every single milestone. On the other hand,  Khushi is excited about the celebration but is quite wary of her Arnavji's gussa and is now biting her nails nervously.

Meanwhile,  a buzz has been going on among forum members since some time.  The absence of anniversary threads for the past couple of years has elevated the will among members that this year an anniversary thread has to be created especially since it's the completion of ten years since IPKKND started.  Fellow members were contacted,  silent members were woken up, missing members were searched.

Since BFTP couldn't be left behind,  Faiqa rounded up the blasters and put a plan into action. Everyone got excited to create a brand new blast thread.  Since the last thread was created, the forum had gone through an overhaul and had adapted a new look.  Everything looked changed and altered.  Blasters visiting after a long time faced some issues.  Some lost their login ids and hence became newbies. Some forgot passwords but managed to recall and login. Most struggled with the new formats of the forums. Some formats worked,  some didn't.  Confusion seemed to lead to chaos.  But all the blasters collectively willed to not only make this thread happen, but make it beautiful. Nostalgia enveloped the blasters as they set to create a memorable thread.

With the 10th anniversary approaching,  excitement among fans seemed to reach new heights.  From the news desk, here's wishing everyone a very happy 10th IPK Anniversary.

A look at the movie references in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon

as there are plenty and they add to our exploration. If you spot one,

please do send in with your thoughts, we'll post it here.

Let's discuss about some landmark IPK scenes

The title song

Presenting, the original song which inspired the title of our show. It had to be that the theme song, 'Rabba ve' finds its inspiration in the same song. So let's go

Rabba mere Rabba rabba, Rabba mere Rabba

https://youtu.be/as9ptKb7jZs

The pricey thappads

Do you know, Moolrajani, apart from his regular business, has a part time job to earn some extra moolah. He entices rich angry young men into giving him tight slaps (thappads) and receives payment for the same. He must have surely got this idea from these people below who look like his long distance relatives.

In the movie, Lamhe, Pallavi's (Sridevi) distant relatives arrive to claim their right over her house which they won in a court case. Kunwarji (Anil Kapoor) requests them to wait for 6 days, i.e. till Pallavi's marriage. To that, one of them talks bad about her and thus receives a tight slap from Kunwarji and is asked to behave himself. The relative, to heed the request asks for a payment of Rs.1 lakh per day and Rs. 1 lakh for the slap he received. Kunwarji, slaps him three more times and asks his accountant to pay him Rs.10 lakhs.

This was in the 80s. With time, the price of the thappad has increased. Moolrajani now takes Rs.1 crore for a thappad. LOL

The car chase

The girl is whisked away by the bad guy in a car and the hero follows him in another vehicle in a high speed car chase on a route involving many turns and bends. At one bend, the hero suddenly finds the girl, tied up and helplessly lying on the road, to be run over by his own vehicle. To avoid that, the hero swirls the car just in the nick of time and the girl escapes being run over.

Sounds like a scene straight from a Bond movie, right? Well, actually it is. Check this out LOL

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTYwDTRv0XI

The difference is,

In IPK while the jeep comes to a screeching halt and after some dishum dishums and a cliff top rescue, the couple eventually reach home safely

In the movie, Casino Royale, Bond's car meets with an accident after the car turns around several times and the boy & girl are caught by the bad guys

Night under the Stars

What a beautiful night it was, for Arnav & Khushi, under those artificial stars, away from all interruptions. It was their first time.

Another much loved couple are Ross & Rachel, from the show F.R.I.E.N.D.S.  Do you know, where their first time was?  It was in a museum auditorium, under the star display.

IPKKND and Hum hain rahi pyaar ke

(This section is credited to BarunDiwani)

Thank you Ami, for all the pointers

The plot of the movie and the plot of IPK is nowhere close. So what could be the similarities between the two? One has got to watch the movie to find out. Meanwhile, here are a few.

Rahul's (Aamir Khan) nephews & niece call him Kans Mama

Khushi once unintentionally points at Arnav as Kans Mama while narrating the story of the birth of Lord Krishna

Vyjanti (Juhi Chawla) works in Rahul's home

Khushi too works in Arnav's home

Rahul, busy reading the newspaper, tries to take a container without looking and so doesn't see Vyjayanti hiding in the kitchen closet. Vyjayanti, though initially shocked, hands over the required container to him without his knowledge.

Arnav, busy talking on the phone, tries to take a shirt without looking and so doesn't see Khushi hiding in the bedroom closet. Khushi, though initially shocked, hands over the required shirt to him without his knowledge.

Rahul is getting engaged, even though he doesn't want to and is unhappy about it. Vyjanti is heartbroken, slides down the wall crying.

Arnav agrees to get engaged, even though he doesn't want to and is unhappy about it. Khushi is heartbroken, slides down the door crying.

Eventually, in both cases, the said engagements do not take place and the love story between the couples begin. Embarrassed

A Blast from the Past 10th Anniversary edit by Katelyn

Image

Floating in the IPK abyss

No direction, no sign of axis

Gliding free, no need for practice

In this skd, no need for tactics

Sarees red, blue or green

That gaze quite simmering

Falls and catches, a zillion lifts

Dancing and swirling in quick swifts

Crispy jalebis and golgappas

Gulping straight from the dabbas

Sugarfree sweets and aloo pakoras

Recipes that give scintillating jhatkas

Dupattas, anklets and bangles

Time and again, trapped in tangles

Rangolis and a bhaangwali Holi

Drenched in colourful love wholly

Diyas, fireflies and stars

Guiding lights of pyaar

For when there is yakeen

None can come in between

So lost, no track of time

Awoken by a milestone chime

Took a while before realising it

It's been already, a decade dammit!

The Tenth Anniversary Blast Poem By DurgaS

ASR, ek bimaari…… IPK, a syndrome.... A Case Study!

by Horizon

Image

I still remember them like yesterday

those mornings from 10 years ago

the frenzy and the fervor

to catch up with the latest episode

the jibber jabber and sometimes the fierce war of words

who’s right and who’s wrong..

who lied and who’s honest

ASR or Khushi

Anjali or maami

Shyamji  or Lakshmi…

who saved whom and eventually what was saved or lost!

Did it matter??

May be.. may be not..

As khushi says it’s not a matter of truth or lie

But of vishwaas… a belief held high..

a belief that this love story unfolding in front of us

is the best thing yet..

for which we all shared…a deluge of love in common

and we seldom thought or agreed

that it’s just another show

‘cos it never felt like one!

and it still doesn’t… after all these years

decade to be precise!

I lay down thinking of those happy times

in Lakshmi nagar and Shaantivan

a fond dream revisits my heart…

of that parallel universe that ASR and Khushi walk

Chiming in…

is a mellifluous tone that caresses one’s senses

without any talk

like in that AR storeroom

to Khushi’s “Lucknow jaa rahe hum… hamesha ke liye”

“I am leaving for Lucknow… for ever”

in comes from a shocked ASR

“Tum aise nahin ja sak… khushi”

“You can no….”

The implosion inside of him hinted with the softest of rings!

In the kaleidoscope on the evening horizon

as the beautiful arrays gleam

I rant and rave

of the  people.. chattering and fighting

in flesh and blood

many a time it felt.. buaji and mami are the best…

so is Khushi’s “aap shut up”

of the rakhas, kadwa karela, and magarmacch

the bitter demon and the spiny alligator

as he seethed and simmered

and the coy payal and demure akaash..

the perfect foils ..to their siblings’ brash..

Way at the start of then hitherto unrealized sway

an unwitting portending … in a modern office suite..

by a young girl in bright salwar with pompoms

Khushi Kumari Gupta... sounding rather cute..

“ASR? is it a bimaari?” Is ASR a disease??

Little did she know he was one indeed …

a chronic one at that…

so would be her ajeeb and unbelievable love story with him

A sweet malady suffused with many melodies!

Times may come.. times may go....

but a few things remain…

not becos they are perfect..

but their honesty and fidelity

that’s rarely seen

Iss pyaar ko will always bring

a jerk and a jolt…a smile and a tear

and is always a cherished treasure!

Happy 10th Anniversary My Dear IPK!

why am i thinking of you today? why are you so much in my dimaag, in my di...

because it's tenth anniversary, laad governor!

laad governor? huh? what nonsense, dammit! don't you know I'm uss ladki? the girl in red?

girl in red, man in brown, woman in green, gussa in black, sanka in tight churidar, off centre plait, v at the centre of the nape of the neck at diwali, chamkili, kans mama, i hate you!, hum bhi aapse nafrat karte hain! badtameezi toh maine abhi shuru nahin ki!, hey devi maiyya!, how could you?, koi faraq nahin padta!, aap theek toh hain na? koi matlab nahin!, koi matlab nahin?, aapko isse kya faraq padta hai? faraq padta hai, dammit! khushi! khushi!, arnav ji!, they're all the same, they're one, never to be separated... kabhi alag nahin ho sakte... all the same, don't you know?

you're mad.

yes, I'm pagal, but I am cute.

I'm not into cute.

but you're not into hindi serials either.

no I'm not, so what?

so what are you doing here right now? exactly?

i came here to do the fashion show.

but i thought you were the girl in red.

oh well, today i think i'll wear a green lehenga with a gold dupatta and heels I can't walk in.

how about a black jacket instead and a whole lot of ennui?

you're making it hard.

but to come back to the point, if you aren't into hindi serials, what are you doing here?

hindi serials... yeah, not my thing, but this was not a hindi serial... not any serial, in fact. it was sorcery, magic, it was inebriation...

oh, there you go on the jadoo hai nasha hai thing...

that's what it was... that midnight, yes 12 was the witching hour on an island in the east, i was looking at the tv through half shut sleepy eyes, about to turn around and pass out, when i saw the back of a man in a grey suit. his shoulders were broad. he was taking a step forward, and a sylph like girl in red chiffon was stepping back... the v of his hairline at the nape of his long neck (did you mention it just now?)... another step... another step back, i couldn't see his face, i could see the fear and anticipation in her eyes... another step... eyes transfixed, another step back... but what was this? what was thiiiiiis? i felt the rim of my ears begin to prickle, go hot. there was sensation in my upper arm... i mean, upper arm? who feels anything there? the side of my neck felt molten, liquid. my breathing was getting laboured. and yes, my eyes, half shut were they when? now wide open and unblinking, and i was sitting up... staring at the screen i'd never found much of a thing. do you know how many sleepless nights followed that brutal encounter? how many months of not sleeping, not thinking straight? going again and again to youtube, on my comp, on my phone, at home, in the bus, at work? desperately looking for those two and the folks at shantivan and lakshmi nagar, even a goat? jumping into something called forum? talking to rank strangers about my deepest, dearest, most embarrassing thoughts? making friends I've never met, making things called edits, vm, on software I'd never heard of, making no sense whatsoever as I kept grinning through serious conversations in ad? and making up tales, yes yes fan fiction... unbelievable?!!! how many years of not hearing the word diwali or holi or dammit or jalebi or faraq or shut up or saansey or theek or ajeeb or what the or stupid or... without feeling a tremor, an ahsaas... a thrill and an emptiness, a kami? how everything i've watched ever since has at some point or the other made my heart race because oh, it reminded me of them? recently, in a chinese drama, the man's hand and the woman's almost touched separated only by a screen... of courses instantly, out of nowhere... kidnap, kkg, asr, a wall, two searching hands. almost... did I say almost? you know what comes after almost, don't you... almost k...! (go on, tycoon, kiss her kiss her, Aman, don't you dare call.) how every story of every love becomes the romance of one arnav singh raizada and one khushi kumari gupta? how i long to see once more not just them but nani ji, mami ji, the mysteriously disappeared mama ji, bua ji, babu ji, amma, di, jiji, akash, nk, ha ha happy ji, bedi ji... hp, op, rahim chacha, la, nk... even shyam.

Image

how i can't go through a day without thinking of... and every time i think, knots in my stomach, flutters in my knee, upper arm and ears tingling... i am a wreck, someone poured mango juice in my shoes! no, no, eyes have opened on a dark evening by a sinuous ramp and arms are reaching out to grab me... and you don't think this is sorcery? this is nasha?

addiction is bad for you.

mujhe koi faraq nahin padta.

happy mohabbat 10 nafrat 10 anniversary to all of you and my sweet iss pyaar ko.

xocyn1758 and Her Pagal Girls

I am seriously so proud to be a part of this amazing thread with all the wonderful, brilliantly talented women who write and create masterpieces. We met, about ten years ago, women from around the globe… only goes to show how crazy we are about this iconic show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? My “pagal” girls, I call them, we have been through much together, happy and sad times in our personal lives, and we shared those moments these last ten years, just like we shared our feelings of IPK. I love every Blaster, deeply. So, let’s reminisce, shall we? Two families brought together by a past. Fate, call it; I call it Divine. What the Divine wants, the Divine gets; we should all remember this in our lives, things would go a lot smoother. A complex man, who has so much pain, it takes a simple solution of a middle-class zany girl to heal him, a sister's love, a villain disguised as a loving husband, and two wonderful families with deep hurts, secrets, and a Fate that will intertwine them in ways we just couldn’t believe. The show has love, hate, and deception all in one. We will never see this kind of passion and attraction in any other serial with any other stars; brilliantly done by all involved! I am an Italian American who fell in love with IPKKND and feels its heritage and culture in my heart! I am reminiscing about the last ten years, and this is one of my favorite episodes and writeup that I did. Episode 22 The Lucknow Express This episode is one of the greatest episodes ever filmed in IPKKND history. So many emotions going on and the tracks have been laid for the Lucknow Express and the destination is set. The episode begins with the wrath of the Engineer of the Lucknow Express. He retorts, "You ruined the show in Lucknow, you want to be noticed? So shut up and go now, put on this dress, or else." Decision made, and only one option for our Lucknow Express. The Goddess has been summoned for help again. The engine has been refueled. We will see...when we leave the station... In the meantime, the only thing that removes him from her is his sister's call. Anjali is happy her husband is coming home, and they are having a pooja. Please come and ASR says he can't, he has suffered a substantial loss. He has to stay on the platform. Will he board the Lucknow Express? Back at the Gupta house, Shyam is readying himself to leave, holding and then hiding a piece of jewelry from Buaji. They have this long conversation where some impressive words are spoken. Buaji: "Found the right person, found the right heart...to form the right relationship..." Shyam: "My heart is here, but when I am there, my heart is there!" Warning words... Passengers beware! Scene cuts to Khushi as she is calling home and Shyam answers. He is commanding most of the conversation when he realizes Khushi is quiet, he asks her, "Did they break the Lucknow Express?" She asks Shyam to stay because there is trouble at work… so it begins... Shyam's obvious obsession...he changes his plans to help Khushi. He is staying onboard the Lucknow Express. Khushi then refuels her engine with Devi Maya Goddess energy and says, "I will not accept defeat!!!" The Pooja has started Anjali anxiously awaiting her husband's arrival...the doorbell. Is it him? Back to the shoot… Jeff has got to go. Where is she? La goes to get her when suddenly she appears... THE LUCKNOW EXPRESS... in a red saree, looking absolutely stunning... frightened out of her wits... but there, ready for the shoot in her traditional saree. La is furious, but our Lucknow Express is ready to stand up for her beliefs "I WILL NOT, I CAN NOT WEAR THOSE CLOTHES!" SHE STANDS UP FOR TRADITION. WOMEN OF TRADITION. SHE WILL NOT CHANGE! GET ON BOARD THE LUCKNOW EXPRESS OR MISS YOUR RIDE! Thank God for Jeff, who agrees. He sees a different view through his camera lens. He asks her to STAND IN THE LIGHT, YES! this can work! As she turns around... ASR is coming into the shoot... and... stops dead on the tracks... HE SEES HER... THERE IS A DEEP STIRRING...YOU CAN SEE IT...YOU CAN FEEL IT...THE COAL IS IGNITED, THE FIRE IS BURNING, THE ENGINE STARTED... RABBA VE, RABBA VE, RABBA VE... Where is the anger? I only see longing... Their eyes meet... her dupatta slips off her shoulder... they break eye contact, and he realizes he is no longer mesmerized. He steps forward, ready to board the Lucknow Express, but with one foot on the step, he realizes, changes his mind, gets angry again... where's the dress? Jeff intercedes, to shoot or not to shoot, that is the question... He stares ... we wait with bated breath... ALL ABOARD! ALL ABOARD! ALL ABOARD THE LUCKNOW EXPRESS! DESTINATION HAPPINESS... that is to come later... He agrees... He walks away, just mesmerized by her beauty... never realizing he just got aboard... It has been ten years since that scene… a lot has happened...

Khushi, I love you

 A poem by DurgaS

I had called to say that I was ok

Remove all worries in the hearts that lay

Your thought, your name touched a deep core

Unbridled emotions brought forth ashore

I had left you alone like a heartless beast

To my own heart never paid any heed

Strenuous it became going away far

Doors of the heart finally broke ajar

Every moment thereon I have thought of you

Every time I feared if I'd ever see you

Something I wished to tell you long before

Every day wondered if I'd ever tell you

As life hangs in balance on treacherous hands

Uncertain of the phase where our future stands

Overwhelmed to get this single chance

My heart leaps out to an uncanny prance

As I hold the line I can sense it's you

The breeze brings in the breath of you

I can feel the state in which you are

I can't help but say, Khushi ... I love you

Written in the stars

By BarunDiwani

"Toh kya woh sach mein taare ban jaate hai?"

"So do they really become stars?"

The first blessed line I ever heard Barun speak, had no idea who/what/where the show was about. but i could feel his pain, it gripped me. A handsome grown man asking some girl "so do they really become stars?"  The woman touched by his innocent question answers him in her own way, "baat vishwaas ki hai (its all about faith)"  "kya meri maa mujhe dekh ke khush hai? (Is my mom happy to see me?)" he turns to her as if he was a little boy desperate for her to answer "yes".  The power packed in this scene was enough to start me on my journey, there was a pull, a connection, a sort of magic in it. I count my lucky stars I ever came across it. Only later i would learn how significant this moment really was.  The man who didn't believe in anything and passed most things off as "rubbish" had started to look at the stars with the eyes of a naive girl who believed that her deceased parents had become them, perhaps finding some solace in it for himself . As I started to watch this beautiful love story  i would find that these gleaming shimmering nightly creatures had a huge role to play in this story.

A back drop no less important than the Raizada mansion and the Gupta house, in a  way the stars narrated  this love story, a good chance they wrote it eons ago. They were there from the start, the night Khushi fell into his arms and their eyes met for the first time. Next i felt their presence accompanying the song "Tu hi bata mere maula" as Arnav stood by his poolside looking up at them perhaps waiting for something, and Khushi just looked up and dreamt away about her future, they bought so much hope and promise.  However, their first real appearance came in the form of a silent wish by both when their longing for one another was just taking shape. And one evening after hearing her dhak dhak, he sat looking up sipping in the romance they exuded silently, though moments later he, out loud he would dub it all as "silly romantic nonsense." Slowly the stars had became a medium of communication that only grew in strength with time. Perhaps their biggest contribution to Arnav and khushi came when they needed each other the most. He was kidnapped and she was desperate to find him, missing each other terribly.  It was the stars that allowed them to speak and listen to each other's heartfelt confessions.  Then there was the special night before their wedding, Arnav brought the stars, her parents, to Khushi, and after sending them off, the star crossed couple became one.

Many more moments where their indirect presence was felt, countless times when Arnav stood out by the pool side with his romance filled eyes, aloof with her thoughts. And when there was an unbearable pain after he finds that a ring binds her to another, they shared that pain with each other via the stars. With all the moment could be included but that would keep us here for ever, there is one I have to share.

How can we leave out the most precious moment the stars gave us? Khushi tells his picture "Chaliye muskuraaiye! chaliye! (come on smile! come on!)" and how, a gleaming, glowing smile brighter than the stars themselves slowly appears on Arnav's face, his true happiness beaming from within knowing that she'll finally be his forever. It bought closure to the moment that started it all for me. If Khushi were here, she would finally answer him, "Yes Arnavji, today your mom is very happy seeing you."

A Confession ...

By: Mysticaldivine/Old ArshiHamesha

"Fear can only grow in darkness. Once you face fear with light, you win." ~~Steve Maraboli~~

Arnav who delved in the darkness after losing the light of his life, His mother, has been shown the ray of light again by the fear of losing the only light of his life, His Khushi...Today, the moon which has the power of holding all the craters of darkness by getting light from the Sun is illuminating proudly under the visage of this Sun by marking him as hers through his confession...

Image

The fear of losing love made him hate Love and made him hurt the only one who introduced him with this soft petal of touching feeling, murmuring his heart to see the light in the darkness, to beat in rhythm with someone whose heart only beats for him"Har bar"...[Always..]

Today again in the captivity, the fear of distance from his loved one made him leaping through this darkness to embrace the path of light full of Love and endearment. His mind is compelling to take care of the two important people in his life, Di and Khushi..."Di aur...Khushi ka khyaal rakhna" - [Take care of Di and Khushi...]

Yes, he hates her but dying thousand times saying this one sentence...Her tears which make him halt as always, the pearls which he broke but he's been tying those priceless, soft, and pure nuggets in a thread of care, affection, and in his ajeeb Love... Her heart finally recognized it with his one word...her name from his mouth,..."Khushi!!!" ..

Image

That's all she wanted...hear her name from his mouth for which she was calling him over and over on the phone, running after on the airport but he didn't utter her name to give her solace, a healing bam on her wounds which he gave her and he knows that... "Khushi"... and she cries her heart out over his shoulder by holding the phone imaging him with both hands just like always...getting strength from him and transferring strength in him...Yes he the one who hates her, he who gives her tears, but he is the one who always hurt himself in return for giving those tears "kyuon karta hoon main aisa..har bar uss ki ankhon main ansoo..."[Why I became a reason of her tears, why do I do that???]- ...Yet he is the one who can sense her tears over his heart without her saying a word... He can sense her miles away because you can realize that when you know what you are to the other person... Khushi Rona band karo..."I am fine"...yes he hates her and wants to snatch himself away from her but his part knows that she can sense and feels his pain miles away as he is part of her too... he knows she'll be worried for him...Bas...STOP!!!

 But her both hands clasped onto the phone like this was her lifeline. He could feel it desperately. His voice became soft, full of concern. Khushi, please, Mat ro! [ Please don't cry]

Image

The pain in him...The pain in her...the pain which they both feel for each other makes them submit their souls to each other ...His breaking of words," Khushi main..." ... His stammering words, holding her tight, getting strength from her and relinquishing himself over the moment by conceding and admitting without hesitation." Khushi...I love you...  "

He said it without caring of truths and lies of Shyam or anything...just taking enough strength from her and transferring enough to her to come out of this shell of fear...to come out of this mask of denial...to come out of this darkness by spreading light around her ...Today he broke the cocoon of fear by stepping out of this shell... by cocooning her in his safe harbor of Love which is always her safe heaven...

Image

"I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you. I love you not only for what you have made of yourself but for what you are making of me. I love you for the part of me that you bring out."~~Roy Croft~~

His confession felt as his fragrance that was as soothing as his closeness and hugs. With him, she always felt as safe as a love letter in its envelope, sealed with an old-fashioned wax stamp. The kind you open and take in the aroma of your lover. This separation brought that out today. She stood frozen at that moment and then looked at the phone many times, hugged it as she always hugged him in her most vulnerable moments. Finally, she released a smile, then laughed softly.

Maybe a lover's confession felt this way...?

Image

His dwindling hope of losing her in his fear makes him finally confess his state of mind without caring about the truth of Shyam. It is only his belief, trust and love make him say those words for which he did turn to go back to Khushi at Airport as he never needed evidence to confess the Love, he just needed to be needed by her..."Baat aapki hai...fadak padta hai..." to "Khushi, I love you..."

Barun and Sanaya you just nailed it...Both are stupendous in this scene...!!!smiley32

A journey to Confession...

just a lifting of the hand and a look in the eye, so much is said, a story, a novel, an epic may be. indi52 falling in love with asr all over again

~~~~~~~
i will eat the poison that takes you... take me to you... to that place where we will never be alone. yes, asr will take the poison, whatever is her lot he will accept as his. he bites into the sweet and plays the last sequence of the story, now letting go, falling toward her as he too goes where she is.
jab jo bura kaha usska koi matlab nahin... jab jo bura kiya usska koi matlab nahin... iss pyaar mein sahi aur galat ka koi matlab nahin. whatever terrible things i have said, mean nothing... whatever terrible things i have done, mean nothing... in this love right and wrong have no meaning.
voice broken, deep, giving, honest... goosbumps on my arms again.
music has moved to rabba vey.
bas ek cheez ka matlab hai... ki main... hamesha hamesha.. tumse... only one thing has meaning... that i... always always... with you...
his eyes close, a sentence is left unfinished.
last strains of rabba vey.
she opens her eyes... feelings in them she had not felt for a while.
at last he opens his eyes and she must ask, were you saying something? a tender hopeful moment. she would forgive him everything if he'd only say what he had started to say.
uh, kya? er, what?
no, he is not going to say it... back to reality he comes. and all its anger. its hurt. its arrogance. its broken hearted wretched feeling.
he helps her up, holds her hand, takes the bow, both looking gorgeous together... i didn't care none of this made any sense.
but he was not going to give in...
while checking for the dialogues of this episode, i happened to notice the date of first telecast, 3 april... the man in my life and i started dating officially on that nice april day in 1983. serial drama moment. this would be a good time to make the camera focus on my face and his repeatedly. i called him to tell him about the date, "do you remember the scene with heer ranjha, did you see it?" i asked... but before i could finish he cut in, "oh of course, the one where they wore costumes hired from maganlal dresswallah!" apparently, it's where nani ji got her pink costume from, and such things once seen are burned in the memory... never ever to be forgotten. i am still rofling, let me check if that name is the right one. inbhestigationia kareka padi.
it was motilal dresswala... close enough to the famous maganlal. this being ipk, guess it had to be moti or one of krishna's many names.
have you heard hemanta mukherjee's "na tum hamein jaano"? a timeless smooth lilt, a melody that without even seeming to want to, gets inside, makes you want to sing. hemanta's voice, intimate, crooning, mesmerised, taking you through a labyrinth of emotions in search of your humdum... your soulmate, your lover, your love... even if you may not have ever met.
a favourite song of mine. from the 1962 film baat ek raat ki. i so wanted to see what asr and kkg would do with it. ever since i've come across them, the silence keeps telling me a tale.
hope you enjoy the vm.
Remember...
a girl who believed in the unseen
and a man whose disbelief wouldn't wean
Remember...
a girl who embraced all her heart
and a man who jostled his conscience to part
Remember...
a girl who had dreams endless
and a man strove to write his own destiny relentless
Remember...
a girl who had her steps in the smiles and eyes on the stars
and a man bore a cold heart to propel him be a Czar
Khushi Kumari Gupta and Arnav Singh Raizada...
when they met
there was no apparent meteorite shower .. nor any roses perfuming the hour...
there was no cajolery... nor any concord
but what ensued was a love story ...that made hearts surrender...
Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon...
Ironic, it has been longer since it dissolved behind the screen than it greeted our everyday lives...yet a few things remain forever.
Isn't this a regular boy meets girl story? Why this show remains special?
Becos it was made with heart... or so it felt ...
like a painting ...carefully calibrated...meticulously delivered...stroke after stroke..
Came June 6th 2011, when Khushi Kumari Gupta hurried through the narrow lanes of Lucknow on a bulky milk-man motorcycle.. in a princess attire and sneakers, came along a gritty girl with a very interesting mix. And asr, when he alighted from that personal jet, clean, crisp and handsome...giving very little...came two people with great self-belief.
Post a cataclysmic rendezvous...as scripted by divineintervention...
The girl was driven down the hall ... teary-eyed.. yet full of resolve.. "badtameezi kibhi hadh hothi hai"...she wouldn't let him ride high on her...and broached his most touchy subject.. "what if your own sister's weddingbreaks"...huh.. The girl had to be yanked at...a dori had to be pulled off... strewing a string of pearls all over... as cascades in the memories! Adark romance already started brewing hot in the palatial corridors of Sheeshmahal!
A few months later,
Her slipped anklet by his abode... the poolside...with so many matlabs, farqs known unknown...she would question.. he wouldn't answer...with his defenses starting to wear thin already. What ensued a little later was a riveting conversation by the poolside, where a clenched jaw, expectant teary eyes, a slight jutting chin, an impeccable body language.. that told all the stories. Oh...now, it's the girl's turn to deny of any farq...with her heart bleeding...so was his!
But, when a ready to be defeated Khushi stranded on the stage helpless... he gingerly steps by her side and engages her in a conversation that didn't need a single word! They spoke endless.. what all they couldn't all these months..of their mushqil prem kahani..
There was not a single false note throughout. Finest presentation and enacting. Beauty etched in each and every frame...how not to root for this love story?
A love story that shall always be reminisced.. an affair always remembered!
Time for a One Shot
One Starry Night
 by Aarwen
I wrote my first story for Durga's bday thread. A peaceful serene moment for our favourite couple. Hope you enjoy..
How exactly had he ended up here? At midnight, in Lakshmi Nagar of all the places. It had all started when Aakash had come back, over enthusiastic, after his chat with her.. Khushi..
Now why was she smiling and patting on that ridiculous rickety bench? Should he go sit next to her? His feet seemed to have taken over the decision as she continued talking nineteen to a dozen, even before he sat down next to her.
Akash had said something about an actor doing it in some movie. Salman Khan.. Of course it had to be her idea that Payal would like Aakash to do something daringly different before the wedding. He hadn't seen his idiot brother this happy since they were kids. Unbelievable.. And with NK sick who better than bhai could Aakash turn to. What was puzzling him at this moment was why exactly had he said yes to Aakash's pea brained scheme? If he was true to himself he knew the answer to this question since many days now. And that is exactly why Aakash is inside with Payal. And I am with her sitting outside. Reflecting..
Look at what all he had done in the past few weeks.. Helped in a mad cap suicide scheme to get Payal to confess, been tutored by this girl in what was it.. Kuch kuch hota hai? And also been tempted to .. No, tempted was  too strong a word.. Been lightly swayed to dance in the sangeet with her just so that NK didn't end up completely bruising those beautiful white feet..
Yes, well, no point denying he thought her feet were beautiful when he had held that dainty white ankle on his knee. And the way she had delicately lifted her red saree. The girl who bumped into stuff, caused certain chaos wherever she went had been so graceful that night. Glittering diyas and she stood glowing in red. Could he ever forget the color? He never knew such a strong visceral reaction would get attached to a mere color, of all the things possible. He needed to find the AR designer who had designed that saree and give him a raise..
The way the silver payal had shone once he had placed it on her! Till today sometimes when he could hear her going about in Shantivan he would close his eyes and let his ears feast on their khanak. He would know Khushi was around somewhere in his house doing something ajeeb. Strange that the tinkling sound reminded him of Ma's bangles. But he wasn't really thinking of any of this on Diwali, was he? He had not been thinking at all. Period. He had been in a trance. For a long long while he had not felt this out of control.
Bas. He should stop. His thoughts were taking a pretty dangerous turn here.
Dammit! He had even become talkative in his mind. Just like her. And he was having a hard time not to break into a .. Akash was already suspicious catching him thrice.. smile.. That's right. Arnav Singh Raizada smiling. The action felt new to is face. He was quite sure his lips had long forgotten this particular motion. Then again could he have stopped himself when, as she apologized for some craziness she had done that day, she kept smearing some sticky goey stuff over that lovely bewitching face..  Yea..  lovely .. bewitching .. Why did he crave to drink in that sight and not bear to look away anymore? Damn Khushi Kumari Gupta .. what have you done to me?
Khushi.. He distinctly remembered the first time he called her by her first name. How could he forget what seemed etched in his mind. Hadn't he been besides himself with worry? Hours later after having left her unconscious in her house.. Here.. where he sat right this instant. Next to her... He had relived the terror. That something might have happened to her. He might not have reached on time. What if he did not reach on time?
Her face framed by those untamed strands that flew out in the wind still caught him off guard. And was it the flash of lightening that caused those eyes to sparkle blindingly? No one dared to talk to ASR in that tone but she had. It had been an out of body experience. He couldn't even exactly remember what followed what, but somehow she had fainted and he held her secure in his arms. The intensity of emotion that coursed through him was undeniable. The fiery girl looked so fragile when his coarse brown hands held her light frame. She was delicate. Untouched. He could not tell how many minutes he had stood holding her close. Minutes... Maybe it was hours... Not possible.. it had ended all too fast. Must have been a matter of seconds.
Why was it essential that he protect her? Why did she feel unreal? Unearthly. Why had her tiny hand held on to his shirt so tightly that he had to fight to loosen her grasp. He hadn't really wanted to. It felt physically painful when he had braved to do it finally. He had never been able to be indifferent to her. When had all this truly started?
"What the?! Khushi.." Now where was this crazy nymph rushing off too? Why can't you just sit right here next to me? And stay still.
Khushi.. Invariably whenever he said the name he experienced a strange thrill surge through his body. Alive. What absolute nonsense was he thinking! The last time he had spoken this much to himself was when he had decided he needed to apologize to her on the day of the .. No. He needn't think of that yet.. If he was having these honest discussions with himself might as well admit there was something about being around her that dimmed the constant ache within him. Of course if he had to be precise, these days even when he was away from her all that he could concentrate upon was her.
This was getting ridiculous. Where had she rushed off to while he sat in his reverie? Was she even planning to come back? He should get up and go find her. She had an uncanny knack of landing in trouble if left to herself.
"Arnavji aapke liye chai! Aur ye dekhiye.. Jilebi.. Aap ye kha sakte hai.. Ise bina cheeni wali cheeni se maine banaya tha aaj din mein.. Umm.. aise hi .. Ghar mein cheeni nai thi na is liye ..aur koi wajah nai thi.. ha bilkul bhi nai toh.."
He was completely distracted by that beaming happy smile as she held out the tea cup like it was some sort of coveted prize. Without sugar? No sugar in her house that is why she made it? He had no idea how she could talk this much. And have that enchanting blush at the same time. She couldn't possibly have known he would be here. That the jilebis were ready from before, then made no sense at all. Those set of startlingly piercing eyes were saying all sorts of things to him. It surely wasn't helping that he kept losing track of what she was actually saying meanwhile. Maybe he should say something to her.. But by now her smile had already faltered and having placed the cup into his hand she had turned that gorgeous head of hers slightly away. One of these days he had to figure out what was it that she kept muttering to herself. Whom did she think she was having these conversations with anyway? Enough Arnav.. why do you even care? Ye larki mujhe paagal kar degi.. Yes this girl will drive me crazy..
He wondered if Ma could see him with Khushi.  He suddenly desperately wished ma could see this girl. Now what? Was she humming to herself? But where was the echoing strand of music floating in from. Surely something soothing uplifting to the tune. And it did feel vaguely familiar. Like he had heard it before but couldn't quite place his finger on it.
Perhaps he should talk to her instead of solving the mystery of some phantom melody. Time to turn and concentrate Mr Raizada... No point in disturbing her when she has her gaze turned upwards and has that smile playing on those lips. A minute more of doing nothing just taking in the sight of her would surely do no more harm than already done right?
Oh waittt.. Those lips had moved. What had she said? Hell! why did he have to miss it? What if it was important? Only one way to find out.
"Kya kaha tumne khushi?"
"Achcha hua inhe pyar hua Arnavji"
Good thing that they fell in love.. And she turns back to stare at the open vista of stars spread over us. Her face looks enchantingly serene, eager even. Suddenly he felt compelled to agree with her.
"Definitely achcha hua inhe pyar hua".
No question about it. There was no place else he would rather be tonight. He breathed in her scent. The freshness of the chilly night. And then settled down content. He was in no hurry to get up. Somehow this is where he was meant to be tonight. And he could stay this way forever. The word had a nice ring to it.. Hameshaa..
A B O U T  T H A T  F A R Q
By BarunDiwani
The farq, that always was...
"mujhe koi farq nahi padta woh ladki agar desh chhod ke bhi chali jaaye toh..."
"It doesn't make any difference to me if that girl flees the country."
and just like that one of the most beautiful  colors called "Farq" sips into the newly laid out canvas called Iss pyaar ko kya naam doon...a color that bought much complexity and depth to the masterpiece that's was yet to become.
Re-watching one of the later  episodes, I couldn't help draw parallels of a scene with  a scene way earlier on... and just pondering over about how much "farq" had been sandwiched b/w the two scenes. In one scene, Khushi is in his rearview mirror,  the tycoon is oblivious, unaware, unaffected. At the bottom end of the sandwich, he leaves her in his rearview mirror fully and completely aware of her...and he tries hard not to look but fails.
Ignore here, he can not. never anymore. trying his hardest to stay composed and not break down, he has to look, even if for a fraction of a milisecond...a fraction of a milisecond that spoke volumes.
"Koi farq nahi padta"  "It doesn't make a diff"
certainly a heard before seen before phrase in Indian entertainment, but no other mode of entertainment used it so effectively as IPK has.
So many complexities and real human emotions are used wonderfully in this love story  some obvious, others are carefully hidden. This whole Farq business is one of my favorites and I have always wanted to explore it and write about it but just don't know if i can do justice to it with my words...thanks to these two scenes i'm compelled to put my feelings into words, hope it translates ok.
So when did the farq really start?
The first time we see a big battle between ASR and Farq is on the rainy stormy night, when he has to stop his SUV  and step out with dinchak background music....after flashback of her in the that red
the first time his heart would sing "rabba ve"and then her in his arm in that parking lot ....he had convince himself  "Arnav Singh Raizada ko kisi ladki se koi farq nahi padta!"
The Farq always seemed to pick more on ASR than Khushi, though  it had started to get to her too...
Several moments stick out as favorites and move the story forward.
1. "jhaa rahi hai toh mujhe kyu faraq pad raha hai?" he asks himself, after hours of Khushi in his head informing him she going back home to Lacknow "hamesha ke liye"...perhaps what makes this instance even more juicy is when she startles him jumping out of his cabinet, his eyes can't get enough but she wants to run away and manages to slip away...but ASR true to himself doesn't lose and catches her alone pool-side. His first words? "you said you were were going to Lucknow forever! then why did you come back?"
oh so many such explosive interactions and so hard to pick a few, but we would be here forever. so just picking a couple more that will alway define this element of this show.
2. There were some heartbreaking ones too, but no surprise if you know me which i'll choose to talke about, in epi 124, there remains one of the best scenes ever for me.
He found out that ring he found the night before belongs to Khushi, given to her by her mangetar...after the initial shock and heartbreak, ASR reacts: grabbing her arms in passionate anger "tumne mujhe batana zaruri nahi samjha?" he inquires why didn't she find it important to tell him.
 "Aap ko kya farq padta hai?" she reciprocates back with just as much passion.
"Mujhe farq padta hai kyu ki" he stops himself abruptly, a tiny gasp is taken in just short of answering with his words, how ever the eyes don't stop. gah!what a scene !
3. Another one of my favorites, Khushi confronts ASR. Why is he insisting on having the engagement so early
ASR asks  her to take care of her engagement first.
she looks away, "i'm talking bout your engagement not mine"
"Exactly," This was his chance, he closes in on her, "sagaai meri hai" looking her straight in the eyes he asks away in the most honest way.  "Khushi meri sagaai ho ya  na ho, kal ho ya ek saal baad ho, tumhe iss kya farq padta hai?"
Translation: "Exactly, it's my engagement, Khushi, whether i have an engagement or not, whether its tomorrow or a year later, what difference does it make to you?"
 His voice had gone so mellow, and serious.. And he said her name, only her first name, there was an intimacy in this question and the way he asked it  that it did all sorts of things to her.
A question she didn't anticipate, but the answer had involuntarily appeared in her eyes. But perhaps in her eyes wasn't good enough for him, he wanted to hear the word from her lips. He held his breath and swallowed hard.
Why do i get the feeling that the way he waits for her answer here, if she had admitted that the faraq is plenty, there really was a small window in which he would've also given in? so not like ASR but here so much desperation, if even for a brief moment, I feel he too would have revealed his true feelings. Sadly, If there was this small window, Khushi slams it shut. Hard to blame the girl after all the pain she had endured since Diwali night, she wouldn't dare bring to her lips anything that would leave her vulnerable to him.
As hard as it was for her, she looked down, away from him, and managed to piece together a sentence with hesitance "aapki sagaai ho ya na ho? hamme kyu faraq pade ga?"
He looks down disappointed with dard (hurt), but its her next line and the way  she dared to look him in eyes and say with such confidence is what drives him over the edge
"suna aapne? hamne kya kaha? Hamme koi faraq nahi padta!"
"did you hear? what I said? I doesn't make any difference to me?"
This one is special to me because it is the closest we get to a confession of their feeling for each other.
4.We also has some joyous ones throughout. One such poignant one came at Payash's wedding just before a gross missunderstaning. One we all had been waiting for with baited breath.
"Aaj mein Khushi ko bata kar rahunga ki mujhe kyun farq padta hai".
"Today, I will tell Khushi why it all makes a difference"
for days now they had been flirting back and forth during payash's wedding. A sensual dance had been performed, he found out how much he was missed, his name had been written on her hand in henna, jealousy had done its thing, sharats(bets) had been made, he found out how much he was missed, cheeks had been kissed, saaaris had been picked, bangles had been gifted, earings had been stolen and given back, bindis were placed baaghi(90s Salman Khan movie) style stretigically  and she had put it on gladly.
oh and his dhak dhaks also caught up with Khushi's acidity.
And when his sister got into a bad accident(caused by the villian) she said something that made him think about not bottling up feelings. He was ready, to tell khushi, no more denying the farq.
"Aaj mein Khushi ko bata kar rahunga ki mujhe kyun farq padta hai".
"Today, I will tell Khushi why it all makes a difference"
Something so sweet about this scene. Him looking at a lit up candle, a fulfilling smile, he gives in, no more fighting the farq this ladki causes, soft notes in the background. Alas we know their love is to go through its biggest test so he doesn't  get to tell her but HE DID GET HERE and HOW? that was really something to watch.
teri meri meri teri.
it was a difficult love story. not easy to express in words.
but what if you said it all through dance...
through rhythm, through the pulse and flow of limbs,
through the throbbing of heart,
through gaze, through touch.
words... were they necessary at all?
sometimes i just get this mad desire to stare at asr kkg endlessly and without a single thought in my head, hyuk... that's when i find i need to make a vm. pity i don't have some high res episodes, but even pixelating and imperfect, ipk gives heartache of a serious kind.
Once upon a time…in a faraway kingdom.. lived an angry prince charming and a very self-assured girl….
…..
How to write a memoir for something that’s still very much part of one’s present! It doesn’t at all feel dated, it still evokes the same emotions, a lot of inexplicable things from those times make sense years down the road, added to that quite a few new things are discovered, and the charm is never lost… you feel like rewatching, rewriting and re-immersing yourself in that world all over again…Isn’t that what a classic is??
That’s how I feel about IPK…
On a recent rewatch I realized how most of the episodes after the Guesthouse were centered around ASR’s trial and errors trying to make this young girl listen to his side… he may not have said  ‘sorry’ just yet.. but he knew and his sister too…. how off-guard he was caught putting her life into danger.. he tried that morning at teej.. “us din tum ne jo”…. Na..she wouldn’t listen.  He tried again in the storeroom and even banged the door closed, she didn’t budge.. blabbered whatever came to her mind to escape the moment….and left! Then came that encounter where she called him character dheela… he couldn’t accept her interference in his personal matters.. by now he seemed to have a deciphered away to finally make her listen to him…..even by the day of Janmashtami he had figured the extra miles he needed to go to grab her attention…however seemingly scandalous it could be… he has figured it out…
That was a rather small detail in the overall scheme of their relationship… but much focused on adding a newer dimension…
There was an old Telugu movie “Mayabazaar” from the 1950s, loosely based on the Mahabharatha, the story of Bheema’s son Ghatotkacha, Arjuna’s son Abhimanyu, and an imaginary daughter of Krishna’s brother Balarama, Sasirekha, who didn’t even exist in the original epic as written by Ved Vyasa. An evergreen moonlight song from that movie was in fact deceptively shot on scorching midafternoon, there was even a fantastical apparatus mimicking modern day facetime. But facts didn’t matter.Till date, analyses and appreciations galore and it remains right on top of those old goldies….
 It’s all about presentation, presentation, and presentation….
Well-crafted characters and did I mention well enacted as well..
With the appropriate amount of lighter and intense moments….
At that hospital where Khushi asked devimayya to bless her with the strength needed to cope.. one could still feel Khushi’s vulnerability there… where she didn’t blink once to crash land on him with tears pouring down....with babuji debilitated, entire family looking up to her for support ..and she? .. she turned to him. Recall that one of the off screen pictures or edited scenes latter showed him holding her to balance himself from the impact of her crashing below the camera angle so that it’s not visible. I realize the execution was perhaps not that easy.. she didn’t have to go full-throttled….. but with the conviction of the team and the actors… she did it anyway! The impact of that partial hug still resonates…after all this is asr and khushi!
Later on, Khushi’sreturn to the Raizadas and to her crazy avatars right after all the heart break of  Diwali was hard to digest…but a little bit after her return, what happened at that dining table with as forcibly gulping spicy food in spite of Khushi’s warnings and khushi’s expressions of shock and tiny retribution there were rather delightful and grew on me so much over the years and spoke volumes of the grip the writers and the actors have by then on these two, and the spell these two have on the audience that even a seeming misfit fun moment amalgamated effortlessly! The enthralling star gazing that followed soon with asr-Khushi return to the talking terms….where every time one hears him ask her  “so, do they truly become stars??” and the ensuing soft little talk.. one feels the urge to enter the celluloid and be enamored in-person at that continuation of an implicit, quiet conversation happening between them always…beyond all their altercations….
Khushi’s analogy to motichoor laddu comes to mind….how all their scattered, flustered, and bittersweet emotions coalescing and finding momentary solace…
And they both very much reminded of their earlier selves… She remains frustratingly nosy and he, shockingly rude!
 Consistency of characters…..the key to why this love story remains safely ensconced in one’s memory and heart…
On the day of Holi, by that poolside, she was a vision on the chaise and he, the artist, attending to his precious angel. Isn’t that how he always felt….. it almost reminds one of that guesthouse where she fainted in his arms and he softly wiped away any tears and blemishes off her face while immersed in her 200%...
Not that it was devoid of any pitfalls.  There are quite a few things to complain about. At birds- eye- view level, the entire Lavanya’straining, and her total transformation seem rather regressive. And it’s a pity and implausible how Shyam continued his shenanigans right under the nose of Anjali, asr, and khushi and none of them could identify his duplicity. The ardent fan in me may come running to explain Shashiji, a well-balanced sensible adult, could smell things horribly wrong with him immediately whereas the above three with their broken insides and insecurities may not be able to at first see things as they are. Nevertheless, wish a well-educated and sensible Anjali was not shown to be such a weakling.
But, for iss pyar,music defied and defined so many emotions and accomplished many a conversation. It may not be an exaggeration if that’s one of the very top reasons for many, including me, to remain loyally glued to this love story. In rewatches, it gets exciting to note which tunes were introduced exactly at which scene, the character-specific ones, and the intense ones.  Whether it’s when Khushi barges into asr’s cabin to question about his love for Lavanya or the rabba ve reprise for terimeri dance, the lilting melody when asr strolls down that gupta verandah adorning khushi, or the sad rabba ve on that lakshmi nagar terrace.... many instances where the music elevated the whole mood.
When the wafts of rabba ve fragrances the air again… one would be completely swept away in the masteryof all the farqs, matlabs, somber and fun moment. Hard to believe it’s a decade old! The excitement of a new episode may have vanished but the affection and appreciation for the ones gone by continues!
In a world markedwith short-term focus and inundated with newer products continuously,the enduring love of/ for Iss Pyaar ko prevails….
Journey of Dupatta... [Edited Version]
Sometimes the greatest journey is the distance traveled between two people.~Adam Miller~
Image
Dupatta, a symbol of shield, protection, respect, and torch of the union.A fabric of tug which they both were holding and tilting away from each other but always remaining holding it tightly till he embraces her by accepting her, by delivering her a message she is his respect...with DeviMaiya's blessings and then he keeps it to assure her that he is her respect and she doesn't have to look or seek for it or even worry for it. He will be covering her with His and she will cover him by Hers meaning they both are going to be there for each other at every level no matter what.
The journey of Dupatta starts with the first Epi, when her Dupatta falls to his feet when Arnav's men were dragging her away. Her eyes never left her and neither his. During this, she finds her original red dupatta and envelopes herself in it...This day she takes his protection, his passionate color around her neck ...Red dupatta with her green lehenga.
 Image
Next time, her white Dupatta, her purity touches his face...no feet, his head, Remember, both were covering their heads with white...he did accept her as his respect that day at Dargha but unintentionally
"tum se kya mangoo main tum khud hi samajh lo...Maula.."...
[What can I seek from you as you know by yourself my Lord/ Almighty]
she was walking right next to him just a distance of a piece of cloth A chaddar...a form of Dupatta that was shielding them. That Chaadar was two sides, the inner side was reflecting red and middle green, white outer and topside was white with the mid section as green.  he is her HORUS, her protector the day one...and she was his peace as white was all over. Don't forget the chadar was having golden gota all over.
Image
She crossed his way ...by touching his visage as an assurance his dark and "bey rang" colorless life is going to be touched by the purity of LOVE which he was seeking for years but he has to step forward to reach her by accepting the Fate but he stayed there watching her instead. Yet the door of his heart had opened with her essence. The breeze of her visage made it possible but silently.
He had no control here...regardless "everything is in my control and will be"They both tied Dhagga, the thread in red and green, and also Mannat locks in between green and red Dupattas...their union was destined that day. The key of his heart reaches to its owner...Khushi...But he made sure the owner of his heart should be at its place and for that, he took out her Dupatta, her respect by flashing the video of Sheesh mahal...In front of the whole Lukhnow, her dupatta gets filthy by EVIL hands.
This was another way to reach to the next level of purity because the evil became a source to take her where her protector was...in Delhi
Image
Next time Duppata becomes happy when he HEARS her calling her protector to save her and he reaches there to hold her right next to his heart. It was guest house where he sent her without knowing the condition of the place....remember the color of Duppatta is rainbow..mixture of all but majority is red, orange, & pink ...
After this Dupatta seeks his embrace in his office, in his vicinity, longing to be near him and this time she has no control over it, and this Dupptta makes his day and night only yearning for her..."eik saye ki tarah chah gaye hai..." but DeviMaiyya's red chunari stops her too. Dupatta was all over him like missing its owner...
 ImageImage
She left him for Lucknow and that made him restless than anything before, even more than his past or his past events got entangled with another loss of love. Even looking at her closed door he was surrounded by Dupattas...
Image
 His unsaid prayers or whatever she came back and so did his peace. Dupatta had its own yearning and it found him to kiss him again at bairserai...like it was reminding him what he wanted to forget.
Image
Kissi larki see farq nahin padta...but he couldn't sleep or get over her after this meeting. The curtain of his windows was even reminding him the same at night.
Image Image
She comes back in his life, in AR Mansion, and Dupatta springs with joy in his arms. He insults her over a broken laptop and later she throws tea think he might have a hold on her Dupatta...but later Dupatta ties them together removing all the tiffs in between them.
Image Image
 The tom and jerry fights never seized in between but so did the level of understanding in between them. Making things correct for each other and with each other was always the first priority for them. Accepting their faults and apologizing was one of those habits...even it was so hard for Arnav. LOL..He said sorry many times...
Image
This joy takes them on a love trip, Nanital...where he searches for her but Duppatta again brings them closer but this time he picks up from his feet and returns her but also turns around to show her RESPECT. It was Nainital where he grew respect for her more than before.
ImageImage
The next trip of Duppatta is on her head where she has been chosen by him as her BRIDE...That is the moment where couldn't resist her at all.
Image
That sense of ownership makes him hold it tightly and mark her his by challenging her to mark him as hers by kissing and applying Haldi... during Payesh wedding season.
ImageImage
That pull of love changes to a tug yet the knot remained in between them until he ropped her into forced marriage...The red dupatta rages like fire over his face to remind him everything but he holds it, refuses to feel anything.
Image
Dupatta tried to bring them closer to remove all the hazziness during gupta house visit. His heart melted away as always and brought an unbelieable smiles in between them but rage and hate wasn't far away either.
ImageImage
That rage seizes over telepathy where again white Dupatta brings a peace in his heart removing all the specks of hate and rage against his self created walls against love. The separation brought them closer to bridge all the differences showing them love is above all...La's words...pyar sab se bad hota hai.
Image
Journey of Duppatta never gets rest under this these storms till he accepts this as his own and embraces her by announcing her HIS RESPECT putting all ego aside just their love for each other by acknowledging that they can't live without each other and DM's shrunk in the BG celebrates that with them..."We are safe" indeed. The color is blue with orange, pink stripes in it as they are accepting each other with all the flaws, Rajkumar and Shaitan ...Beauty and the beast is one in each other's embrace.
Image
Arnav doesn't stay there and wants Khushi to embrace their love and union and he assures her that HE is her RESPECT and PROTECTOR for forever but Radha Krishan wants them to play another round with this.If Krishna can bring him downstairs to make him lightening the Diya with Khushi's nutkhat plan , he wants him to be in the Mandir for his Khushi, where he was to free pigeons for his mother once.
Image
He holds her dupatta and makes her stop to turn away or walk away from him on his wedding. Finally, the game gets over but that day Khushi wears the same color of Sheesh Mahal, with green and Golden and pinkish-red Duppatta accompanies her to her owner by marking her as HIS with untouchable Knot to start a new journey...
Image
Oh, later, Arnav was expert in using her dupatta many ways especially in kidnapping her by making her hush...then covering her eyes so she couldn't see where was he taking her...
It was his ULTIMATE heaven...Mother's garden
Yes, Dupatta brought them Home, in mother;s lap, teh most peaceful place ever.
