Where would Hrithik stand today without the help of Rakesh Roshan?

All Hit films of Hrithik directed by Rakesh Roshan : Kaho Naa Pyar Hai (Blockbuster), Koi... Mil Gaya (Super-Hit), Krrish (Blockbuster), Krrish 3 (Blockbuster).

All Hit films of Hrithik NOT directed by Rakesh Roshan : Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (Blockbuster), Dhoom 2 (Blockbuster), Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara (Hit), Agneepath (Super-Hit), Super 30 (Hit), War (Blockbuster)

K3G had an ensemble cast which was headlined by SRK and Hrithik had a supporting role in the movie.

Dhoom 2 was sequel of a Hit film. Hrithik made the Dhoom brand bigger but still, he had the base already set up by the success of the first film.

War was a two hero film and Tiger deserves equal credit if not more than Hrithik for it's success.

That leaves three films, ZNMD, Agneepath and Super 30 where Hrithik was the sole major crowdpuller. ZNMD and Super 30 were HITS, and Agneepath was Super-Hit. None of them were Blockbusters.

So what is Hrithik without his Papa? He's talented for sure. I'm not saying he's not. But you require more than just talent to survive in the industry. His choices are terrible and he would've been nowhere if his Dad didn't guide him.

The better question is where Rakesh would be without Hrithik - not worth a thousand crore plus.

Hrithik is Rakesh's money maker, not the other way around.  He has elevated every single Rakesh film well beyond what was on the page or came from the director's chair.   Even Rakesh knows this which is why he's said that he won't make a film without Hrithik anymore while Hrithik will of course work with others.

I'd almost take this post seriously if not for  this sentence

War was a two hero film and Tiger deserves equal credit if not more than Hrithik for it's success.

Rakesh who didn't want Hrithik to be an actor made him promise not to start professionally acting as an adult until 24 as part of their deal for Hrithik not going for his Masters but instead continuing to work for Rakesh as an assistant then AD.    (He's still an unofficial AD on his father's films - and deals with the everything from scripts, editing, score to promotional materials).

He hit 24 and started auditioning and that's when he got Fiza and Mission Kashmir.   His debut film was supposed to be with Shekhar Kapur before he pulled out and left to do Elizabeth.   Then Rakesh shocked Hrithik with KNPH.

Hrithik signed on to every movie up until MPKDH before KNHP ever released just in case KNHP flopped.  Almost all of them were with good established directors.  Some like KJO signed him because they'd seen early footage from KNPH - so yes that helped his career even before it opened but his talent is what sold him..

KMG started pre production in 2001 - before the series of romantic duds happened - so it was not made to save Hrithik's career.  When filming KMG he was filming 3 other movies (including MPKDH) and Hrithik decided he was going to be more choosy and just sign on to one film at a time.

If he hadn't done KMG or Krish he might have agreed to do Swades and Rang De Basanti instead.  He was not spoiled for choice..

No were at all.

Just imagine if he didn't  have KNPH & Koi Mil Gaya in his filmography their is no way that Chopras could have offer him Dhoom 2.

If he didn't have Krish 3 I don't even think that he could have survive in industry till now.

If he hadn't done KNPH he'd still have had Fiza and Mission Kashmir.  MK wouldn't have broken the OD and OW record and been #3 for the year but both films would have showed his worth.   If not KNPH he'd have signed for other films and it would have taken longer but the star making performance was mainly because of his talent - not the script or direction or any minuscule publicity because of the Roshan name.   Directors like Shekhar Kapoor and Vinod Chopra already believed in his talent and someone who worked as hard as he did to overcome his stammer, scoliosis etc would have continued to work hard.

Just imagine Dhoom2 without Hrithik - It wouldn't have been the biggest blockbuster of the year.  It probably would have like most sequels at the time made less than Dhoom and no one would have been salivating for Dhoom 3 let alone Dhoom 4.  If he didn't do Dhoom 2 he'd have done something else.

Krrish 3 that came right after ZMND and Agneepath?   He'd have signed on to another big movie instead.   One that would have taken up far less of his time because he wouldn't have had to do pre- and post production on it.  The Krrish series has maintained and succeeded because of Hrithik's talent.  KMG worked mainly because of Hrithik's much celebrated performance.  Rakesh is not doing him a favor by letting him being in the series.
