Aamir Khan was the initial original choice for Sunjay Dutt's role, and while he liked the script and thought the movie would go on to be a blockbuster, he did not connect with the role to his satisfaction.

The film was completed within 36 days, something unheard of at that time. (majority of movies usually used to take 1 to 3 years to be completed during early to mid 90's). 

The film's story line was inspired by a incident in writer Reema Rakesh Nath's life. She was signed for the film Jawani Deewani and met with a terrible accident. She broke her leg in two places. She needed a rod in her leg. Her collar bone was broken and she got 11 stitches on her face. There was a fear she would walk with a limp for the rest of her life. The doctor was worried about Reema. Being young and unmarried, he wondered if any boy would marry her. This is how Sanjay Dutt's character Aman was born.

Ayesha Jhulka was signed for the film but on the first day of shooting, she was down with a high fever. Due to her ill health, Madhuri Dixit stepped in her role.

SP Balasubramanyam sung for Salman Khan and Kumar Sanu had sung for Sanjay Dutt's character.

Saajan remains one of the biggest blockbuster of director Lawerence Dsouza he went on to make many films but they did not do well.

The film was Salman Khan's first movie released theatrically in Canada . It was played in a re run in 1992. Indian movies had stopped releasing in theatre's in 1982.Salman Khan's first two new movies released in the theatre in Canada were Dil Tera Aashiq and Chandramukhi. Both movies were released on the same day.

The Music of this album was a blockbuster with many popular songs such as Dekha Hai Pheli Baar, Mera Dil Bhi Kitna Pagal Hai, Jiye Toh Jiye Kyse and Bahut Pyar Karte Hai.

After the film released, Sudhakar Bokade and Subhash Ghai almost ended up in a brawl at a party. A very drunk Subhash Ghai saw Sudhakar Bokade and pointed at him. He then yelled at him " Hey boy bring me a drink now" . The on lookers were shocked with Ghai's behavior. Bokade went up to Ghai and told him to get his own drink by himself. This is when Ghai started hurling verbal abuses at him. Bokade later stated he would not have minded getting a drink for Ghai if he had asked politely and not pointed at him rudely in front of everyone. Bokade stated Ghai was upset that Saajan was a bigger hit than Saudagar and he was bitter about this. Thus he used the party incident to redeem himself.

While the film was completed in April 1991 the director Lawrence D'souza felt there was something still missing in the soundtrack. He then went to music directors nadeem-shravan and asked for a peppy number. This is how the title song "dekha hai pehli baar" was made which would be one of the top songs of nadeem-shravan's illustrious career. One cannot even imagine the film without this song however it almost happened!

When the film was complete , some last minute patch work needed to be done. But none of the dates of the lead stars could be arranged. He was told it would take a extra 3 months. This frustrated producer Sudhakar Bokade and he thought of quitting the film line. He was unhappy with how unprofessional and disorganized things were. It was only when Saajan made so much money he decided to stay in films.

Neeta Puri was signed for the role of Manehka which was later played by Ekta.

Remake of Hollywood movie Overboard starring Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell.

Only film that has Salman Khan and Neelam as a pair. They both appear in Hum Saath Saath Hain but as siblings.

Salman and Neelam had another film in production in 1992 called Patanga. Once Ek ladka ek ladki flopped distributors felt the pairing was not right and Patanga was shelved.

Synopsis:  Jugnu is a playful boy whose spending time with his friends doing nothing.He is in love with Shalu but their relationship is not approved by her father Sunderlal.Vishal,Jugnu's elder brother is a an honest custom officer who comes in bad books of corrupt minister Sevalal due to his honesty.Sunderlal is forced to marry Shalu to Mahesh.Jugnu and his friend manage to flee Shalu from Mahesh clutches where one of his friend Salim his shot who dies in hospital due to tainted glucose.Vishal finds Sevalal behind all this and goes to capture him where he is killed in front of Jugnu.Jugnu is also termed dead but gets saved by a tribal who trains him into a tough guy.When he returns home he plans his revenge against Sevalal and his man.

The producer wanted to sign Lawrence DSouza to direct the film . But it was Salman Khan who kept insisting that Suresh Krishna be signed.

Only film Hindi which had Ashok Saraf in a full fledged negative role.

during the first half of the film Salman Khan had mostly worn checked shirts.

Synopsis: 'Nishchaiy' is the story of two brothers, Ravi and Rohan Yadav separated due to unforeseen circumstances created by Ravi's employer Manohar Singh who suspects Ravi of having an affair with his wife Renuka. Ravi is sent to prison for a crime which he never committed and Rohan is adopted by Renuka's friend Yashoda. Years later, Ravi, a branded criminal is released from prison and Rohan, a successful lawyer now known as Vasu Gujral, clash with each other unaware of the fact that they are real brothers. This clash is engineered by none other than Manohar Singh, who is responsible for their separation years ago.

Everyone questioned how a director like Esmayeel Shroff could make a bad film like Nischaiy. Shroff replied that the film went wrong because it did not have a proper script. He was confused as to why this would happen because they had senior writers like Sachin Bhowmick and Rahi Masoom Raza as script writers.Despite that Bhappi Sonie made allot of money on the film because he sold the film for a high price. It was during the making of the film that he realized that Sonie was not at all concern with the quality of the film or how it was being made. Sonie was only interested in recovering the losses he suffered when Khoon Ka Karz flopped. With Nischaiy all his debts were cleared and his purpose was served.

Bhappi Sonie signed Vinod Khanna for the film despite having severe date issues with him during Khoon Ka Karz. The matter had gotten so bad he took legal action against Vinod for canceling dates and causing financial losses. Many were surprised when they patched things up and worked in Nischaiy..

O.P.Nayyar come back film after nearly 15 years and the music & the songs was popular & successful.

First time Karishma Kapoor acted with Salman Khan later they acted in many films in 90s.

Vinod Khanna and Salman Khan worked together for the first time.

Vinod Khanna plays older brother to Salman Khan after many years he played father to Salman Khan in hits like Wanted 2009,Dabbang 2010 and Dabbang 2 2012.

Rajiv Verma played a villain for the first time.

Juhi Chawla was approached for the film in 1990. She declined it due to lack of dates.

Synopsis: Unable to make even a middle-classed living, Sonia Khanna, who lives with her widowed and ailing mother, faces yet another challenge when she must get her mother hospitalized as well as come with money for medical expenses. She finds a job with Ooty-based widower Chaudhary Ranjit Singh as a governess for his children, but he prefers someone mature. So she dons the guise of an older woman, calls herself Savitri, and gets hired. Things get hilarious and out of control after she falls in love with her employer's nephew, Vijay, while being wooed by the later. And the turmoil turns deadly after she starts to get blackmailed by an unknown male.

Dil Tera Aashiq along with Chandra Mukhi were the first new movies of Salman Khan to release theatrically in Canada. The previous year has seen Saajan released in re run showings since the film had already released on home video. Dil Tera Aashiq and Chandra Mukhi were released on the same day.

The song "Dil Tera Aashiq" was sampled for the song "Parande Vich Dil Atka " from the album Pagla Kahin Ka (2000).

Madhuri Dixit again performs on her own song "Dhak Dhak Karne Laga" from the film Beta (1992) in one of the film sequences with Anupam Kher.

Anupam Kher and Rikku Rakesh Nath clashed over Anupam Kher constantly cancel ling and coming late to the films sets. Rikku even threaten to throw Anupam from the film. It was Boney Kapoor who stepped in and calmed things down.

Salman Khan cut his hair for this film, from the long hair right from his debut.

Unofficial remake of Professor .

The song Kam Se Kam Kahan Hota was later the inspiration for the song Tumse Kitna Hain Pyar.

Salman said in print he regretted the producers released this film the same day as his friend's film Chandramukhi. Both films starred no 1 heroines of the 1990s and still flopped. November 1993 was then the lowest phase of Salman's career as he signed only one film that whole year which was unheard of in the 1990s. That film would be Rajshri's Hum aap ke hain kaun.

This marked the first film of Salman Khan along with Dil Tera Aashiq, to release theatrically in Canada. Indian films had stopped releasing in theater's in Canada since 1982. The previous year (1992) Saajan was released in re run showing's since the film already released onto home video. Dil Tera Aashiq and Chandra Mukhi were released on the same day and were the first brand new films of Salman Khan to release in theater's in Canada.

The song " Tune Pakdi Kallai" was first shot with 1980s actress Kim. The clip was even released in the movie's theatrical trailer's months before the film released. At the last minute, the producer decided to scrap the song and re shoot it with Sri Devi.

The song Tere Dil Ke Baat Main Janoo was edited out of the final version.

after Sanam Bewafaa 1991 Pran and Salman Khan worked only in this film.

After the film bombed director Debaloy Dey shifted to Canada and started making television software>Many years later he returned to direction with Machli Jal Ki Rani Hai 2014.

Lata Mangeshkar, who sang more than 10 songs in the movie, had long retired from accepting awards, but the public demand for the song "Didi Tera Devar Deewana" was such that she received the Filmfare Special Award that year.

HAHK was a trend setter for non-violent and NRI based films.

Filmmaker Karan Johar named it as the one film that changed his life. He said, "After seeing Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! I realized Indian cinema is about values, tradition, subtlety, romance. There is so much soul in it."

Painter (Late) M. F. Husain was reported to have seen the film 85 times.

The film also won the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

The film was originally released in only a small number of theaters that agreed to upgrade their facilities. Due to widespread demand for the film after release, many other theaters upgraded in order to get the film. As a result ticket prices were raised, and more people came back to theaters who had been lost to television.

The music parts during the song "Joote Do Paise Lo", are the instrumentals of the songs, "Kabootar Ja Ja" and "Aja Sham Hone Ayi".

Both these songs are from Sooraj Barjatiya's previous film "Maine Pyar Kiya".

Anupam Kher was suffering from facial paralysis at that time and shot the drunken act of Sholay to cover up for his sickness.

It made a lasting impact on wedding celebrations in India, which often include songs and games from the film.

The bright purple jaded satin saree with a backless khidki-blouse that Madhuri Dixit draped in "Didi Tera Dewar Deewana" was reported to have cost Rs. 1.5 million (US$23,000).

Early reviewers of "Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!" predicted that it would be a huge flop; hence the industry was stunned when it went on to become the most successful film of all time up to that point.

During the scripting of the film, Juhi Chawla asked Sooraj Barjatya if she could do the film. Sooraj replied that the casting was done and Madhuri was signed.

The 14-song soundtrack, an unusually large number, is also one of the most popular in Bollywood history, with popular singer Lata Mangeshkar lending her voice for 11 of the 14 songs in the film.

Barjatya used musical numbers to avoid treating some situations in a cliché manner, which resulted in so many songs that there were complaints during initial screenings of the film concerning its length and number of songs.

Barjayta's grandfather and the company founder Tarachand Barjatya, loved the song "Dhiktana" so much that the film was nearly given that title.

From conception to finished product, the film took four years.

Designed by Anna Singh, the saree that Dixit wore in "Didi Tera Dewar Deewana" was described as one of the "most talked about sarees" by both The Tribune and The Times of India.[18][19] It became popular and was made available for purchase in various shops around the world, with it selling in large numbers.

This film, in addition to the following year's Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, contributed to an increase in Indian cinema attendance of 40% in just two years.

In 1998 a theatre company in London, where the film had played for a year, staged a production based on the film titled Fourteen Songs, Two Weddings and a Funeral.

"Jute Lo Paise Do" song set the trend of hiding bridegroom's shoes in wedding in Nepal . There were no such tradition before that.

Director/writer Sooraj Barjatya devoted one year and nine months to write the screenplay of the film.
