Chapter-9
Kalyani wake up a little late . She found herself much more refreshed. There was no trace of her nightmare in her brain of previous night. She peeped into Malhar’s room, but he was not there. Malhar , was having his regular exercises in his mini gym room. Being a cop he has to be fit. Kalyani wondered where he could be ? She thought -" Pehle nasta bana leti hoon . She made veg club sandwhich , omlett, cut fresh fruits and boil water to clean vegetables. She was feeling as if its her own kitchen and she is the mistress of the house. She make fresh orange juice for him and sought to find him out, Malhar was doing back arching in his sleeveless tee and cargo pants, in the corner most room of the house. Hair a little dishevelled,body glistened with sweat. ‘Aao kalyani” he called her, as he could sense her presence. Kalyani entered and was a little awestruck to see the room. The room was well stuffed with hanging rope , a trade mill , dumbles , and many gymnastic equipments . “ itna sab kuch !par ap dikhne mein toh itne macho nhi lagte , u are not a muscle infested moron.”stated she quite cutely .Malhar laughed and said - “These are all for the purpose of fitness! itna toh karna padega ,varna gundo ki acchi pitai kaise karunga ! Kalyani came near to a pair of dumble and said Dumbles ! “mein uthau ! kitne cute hai yeh “
Malhar nodded his head in disbelief , How can someone find dumbles cute! He was done his fitness regime for that day, and started wiping his sweat, enjoying Kalyani’s cute antics. Kalyani could not manage the dumbles , and was about to drop it , but Malhar ,prior to that hold her hand . Bohot vari hai madam , ap ki nazakat iski berehemi seh nhi payegi! Kalyani made a face at his jokes .He kept the dumbles inthe proper place and said to her –“I think , this will suit u better , he handed her a yellow spongy smiley ball. Kalyani rolled her eyes and said - “Don’t underestimate a women’s power Mr Cop! I am a brown belt in Carate. Both laughed at their jokes and malhar notice kalyani is wearing a white sleeveless bow neck kurti with pyjama of the same color, looking as fresh as a dew ! He could notice a slight pink tinge at the back of her dress.
Malhar drank the juice and said –“ tumhari tabiyat ab kaisi hai? kal rat ko fir se koi bura sapna .... Kalyani looked at him with astonishment, “ kal meine koi bura swapna dekha tha kya ? mujhe kuch yad nhi. I remember nothing Malharji “ Malhar realized that her brain has still not retained the capacity to remember all the past experiences. He heaved a sigh and said -“ mere hi gala feimi hogi , tum shyaed gehri nind mein thi mujhe laga tumne mujhe bulaya , he changed the topic immediately.
Kalyani served him breakfast,and Malhar enjoyed it thoroughly. It was a simple but delicious. He was having a day off. So it was a day of relaxation for him. Kalyani make arrangements for lunch and then went to the library to fetch some books. She came near the book shelf and find the mini ladder, She wanted to read any one of the book kept in the upper shelve . Kalyani climb up the ladder confidently , and tries to take out a book from the shelve , but the ladder seems to be shaking , Kalyani realized that she is being unable to hold her balance , and she slipped. Kalyani yells cynically but in the next moment, could feel a strong arm around her waist and a mild aroma of body soap. She opened her eyes with utter confusion that How she could get saved by him in the nick of the time. She could find Malhar standing barebody , his hair wet ,as he was freshly bathed. A big white towel hung around his waist. He said –“ Tum na unique piece hi ho jaise , girne se pehele hi chilla rahi thi , aur agar books chahiye hi thi tu mujhse keh sakti thi mein utar deta. “Aur tumhari kurti safed se lal kaise ho gayi? Color change karti hai kya. His dimple beamed like a pearl. He joked at her to lighten up the situation.
But the moment Kalyani listened to this , aher face was flushed with redness , reason of which totally unknown to Malhar . She hurriedly get down of her arms and ran away to the bathroom like a doe. She shut the door with the bang. Malhar looked at her moving body and said-aisa kya keh diya ki aise paglo ki tarah vag gayi , hadh karti hai ! Little did he know that why Kalyani was so embarrassed! Kalyani was not wearing her panties and her charms had started an hour ago which she failed to realize . Malhar ' s joke remind her of that she is wearing pure white .
Kalyani was flushed red. She sat on the floor and and said to herself –“ bappa ! ab kya karungi ?malharji ko aisi batien kaise bataun ? mere pas toh sanitary napkin vi nhi hai , aur ab pet dard vi shuru ho jaiga ! How embarrassing this is ! Kalyani came out of the bathroom hesitantly , and saw Malhar sitting in the couch in blue cargo pants , and black tee . She fidgets the corner of her dress and said- “ lalita se bat karni hai “? Malhar was busy in a file so he unmindfully answer –“lalita kaun ? Kalyani replied in a hush tone-“ woh lady constable ! Jisnr mere clothes kharide the....Malhar smiled- “ uska nam leela hai ! kalyani murmers- “ lila ho ya kila kya fark padta hai ... jo vi bat hai usi se kehene padenge , ap se keh se kahun ki sanitary napkin chahiye ! She could sense that now Malhar is very near to her and he is sensing something weird . Malhar looked at her very thoughtfully now and said “ pareshani hai kya koi Kalyani ,tell me! mujhe kaho na kuch chahiye tumhe? Kalyani insisted -“ Leela ko phone lagaiye na ! Malhar felt a little bad and said-“ aisa kya hai jo mujhse nhi kaha ja sakta ! he felt a weird kind of jealousy as she was preferring leela over him .He insisted her –“ mujhse kaho ! kalyani denies – “ nhi keh sakti pls samjhiye , mujhe uncomfortable mehesoos hota raha hai , iam feeling very cringed . That was it for him , he at once pulled her waist and hold her face ( The way did in diwali)-“mujhse kehne ke liye uncomfortable ho rahi hai, par us constable leela se keh sakti hun , aisa kya hai jo mein nhi de sakta , par woh leela tumhe la degi , mujhse kaho ! He said in a sonorous voice ,his male cologne and his firm touch was making her berserk ! she huffed and give in and finally said- “ I am having my periods , mujhe avi isi waqt sanitary pads chahiye.... It was an awkward moment for them .Kalyani’s entire face got red, and Malhar at once release her being utterly embarrassed. He turned his face to the other side and said- “ Ooh ! Mujhe laga ! He stammered ....mein mein la deta hun... leela leave pe hai . Tell me the name of ur brand !” Kalyani was feeling extremely discomfited so she utter in a low voice- “ Whisper,Stayfree kuch bhi chalega” She almost choked into tears ,and run away. Malhar uttered to himself – “tu murkha aiesa (You are such a fool!) bechari ko emabarras kar diya “!
After sometime Malhar knocked the door of her room and give her the napkins to her utmost relief . Hours passed they couldnt face each other. Malhar knocked her room gently in the evening . Kalyani was lying on bed and was feeling a little better. Malhar handed her a hot water bag , a packet of dry fruits and a chocolate bar. Kalyani looked at him surprisingly. He said -"Google kiya tha..This may give u relief. I am sorry kalyani" . Kalyani " s eyes fill with tears as she was mesmerized with his gesture. He knelt down near her and said-"Tumhe saramsar hone ki koi zaroorat nhi hai ...yeh phase har larki ki zindagi ki ahem hai ...aur tumhara yeh haq hai ki tum in chiz ki demand karo....tumhari safety k liye mein tumhe bahar nhi jane dene ka risk nhi le sakta...par bahar se tumhari zaroorat ki saman la toh sakta hun...Kalyani hold his hand said -"Woh larki bohot lucky hogi jiski shadi ap se hogi" I am so lucky ki ap mere friend hai...mein is janam mein shayed hi ap ki karz kavi chuka payungi...u are great malharji....Malhar , meanwhile got up and gave a sad smile-" Tumhe lagta hai ki woh lucky hai...sab ko lagta tha ki woh lucky hai....bas woh hi nhi samaj payi.....His voice was choked and kalyani could see moist in his eyes. He left her room at once keeping her wondering whom he actually was talking about .
With the growing time, Malhar and Kalyani were bonding well. She used to make delicious food for him, iron his uniform .They used to have their dinner and break -fast together. Malhar made her member of some online courses where she can learn certain things so that she dont become bored. and promise her that he himself will give some self defence skills after consulting with the doctor. Kalyani always found it strange that Malhar rarely discusses of his college life and it was hard for her to believe that Malhar had no girlfriends in his college days. One day out of her curiosity, She decides to clean Malhar’s closet, when he will be away.
Kalyani bring a duster when Malhar go out for market and told her that it will take a liitle long for his comeback . Kalyani could not hold her curiosity more .She hurriedly entered to his room and start taking out of all the stuffs of his closet . his shirts were pressed immaculately, his socks washed properly , all his stuffs were organized. Kalyani said to herself -‘ are wah Kalyani , inka toh ek bhi kapde mein crease nhi hai , ittu sa dhul nhi hai , impressive ! Safai karun bhi toh kis chiz ki karun ! She turned to close the door of the closet but suddenly get hold of a photograph falling from the lower shelf of the closet . A lady in blue polo neck sweater and jeans with short hair was smiling , with whom there was none othert than Malharji, standing cuddled with her ,smiling broadly in jeans and tee. looking young as a 21. “Yeah kon hai” thought she , feeling not very happy to see them so close , She was trying to find out if any other information could be extracted. Unaware of his presence kalyani said to hsrself -"Aur vi tasveer hogi shayed ! Dekhu kya? Malharji ko pata tishi chalega ! She smiled naughtily . Kalyani ! She looked up , and could see expression of anger in his handsome face .He entered in the room , and said "Mujhse bina izzazat , tumne himmat kaise ki meri almari ko hat lagane ki , "!Kalyani get jerked and dumfounded to hear such an angry tone of Malhar. Her face hung low ,and she was trembling , He came nearer to her , and lift her chin to his level –“ How dare u ? manners nam ki koi chiz hai ki nhi ? is tarajh kisi ki almari mein taka jhaki karna bad habit hote hai , intna vi civic sense nhi hai tumhe ! Kalyani was scared , she never thought that he can scold her so heavily , She tried to explain – ‘ Malharji , meine... meine toh apki almari.... socha todhi safai.... Malhar growled –Kuch dafai vafai nhi karne ayi thi ...jhoot mat bolo ! “ tumhe janna tha ki woh larki kaun hai meri zindagi mein isliye tumne aisa kiya ....You were curious ? Arent you ? Then he hold her hand very harshly and said - “ Har insan ka ek personal space hota hai Kalyani and u must respect that”
Malhar was holding her hand very tightly. Kalyani ‘s cheeks get wet with lone tears , and she could only sobbed and said- “ Malharji....I am sorry ! I am sorry ... par pls mera hath choriye u are hurting me ! Malhar at once came back into his senses as he could see fresh tears into her eyes.Kalyani wipes er tears of her own and ran away , She was terribly hurt and didnt want to utter a single word with him .Malhar realized that he was a way too harsh with her .He banged his hand on the cup board, and said- “ mujhe kalyani pe aisa nhi chillana chahiye tha “ then he took the photograph and tore into pieces and said – “ tumhe mein kab ka bhul chukka hun sampada ! mein bohot pehele move on kar chukka hun ... par fir vi pata nhi kaise yeh tasveer reh gaya ... he hold his head in disgust and anger said – “ Galti kalyani se nhi tumse hui hai Malhar Rane ... tumhe use sampada ke bare mein pehle se hi bol dena chahiye tha ... tumhari past ki har bat jan na uska haq hai .... Tum use aise rula nhi sakte ! Kyun rulaya use meine ! He was going to bang his hand on the mirror .But he stopped in a mid way suddenly and questioned himself by looking at his reflection !
“Kyun Malhar ? kyun uska sach jan na tumharel liye important hai ? why? Malhar looked at the mirror and said to himself- “kalyani! kyun zaroori ho tum ? kyun tumhe rote huye nhi dekh sakta ? kyun subah ki pehli ki kiran ke sath tumhe dekhne ki iccha hoti hai ...aur aj yeh itna gussa ho gaya bhadak gaya ...woh vi kyun... kahi aisa toh nhi... ki mein chhata hun ki tumhe sampada ki bare na jano ...kyunki mein tumhe khona nhi chhaa..ta. He nodded his head and assert
"Mein tumhe nhi kho sakta kalyani ... I cant ! Malhar close his eyes and flashes of her smiling face resontes near his closed eyes .Mujhe bat karni hogi us se. He hurriedly went to her room .But fpund her door locked with in.
Precap -Atul came to Pune to meet Malhar. Kalyani and Malhar confront each other. Malhar to kiss Kalyani in rain .
