in 2017 that Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi collaborated for the first time for Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's Bareilly Ki Barfi. They later worked together in Laxman Utekar's 2019 film Luka Chuppi. And now, the two actors are reuniting for Dinesh Vijan's Mimi. Kriti, who was last seen in Arjun Patiala, took to social media to make the big announcement.

Sharing the first poster, Kriti wrote, "Life is a journey filled with unexpected miracles. Get ready for a journey like never before, #Mimi!! This one's gonna be soooo special."

Based on Marathi film, Mala Aai Vhhaychy, Mimi deals with the growing practice of surrogacy in India. The film bagged the National Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2011.

The film will be directed by Laxman Utekar of Luka Chuppi fame.

Maddock films has earlier backed films like Hindi Medium, Badlapur and Stree, and now they are coming up with another important story.

Confirming the news, Dinesh Vijan said in a statement, "There's a thrill in telling poignant stories and then there's a thrill in telling ones that are based on true events. Mimi is one such tale. It's a story that struck a chord with me, it explores a beautiful relationship between a woman who never wanted to be a mother and one who can't wait to be one. What's unexpected about the story is the humorous vein that runs through it and that’s what makes Mimi exciting."

The film will hit the screens sometime in 2020.
