CHAPTER 42

ALL THE NAMES & PLACES ARE FICTITIOUS (if any resemblance to persons & places is purely coincidental). Any royal titles, MEDICAL PROCEDURES, MEDICAL TERMS, MILITARY PROCEDURES, MILITARY TERMS, RELIGIOUS TERMS, Punjabi terms, architectural terms, IT terms & programs, office hierachy, wedding rituals, etc. are from my imagination hence THEY ARE NOT TRUE. !!!!!

It was four hours since surgery had started and three hours since Maan had gone in. Everytime Maan would try to disengage his hand from Geet's grasp, her pulse and blood pressure would accelerate. Hence, doctors had no option but to let Maan sit there. Half an hour later (4 1/2 hours since surgery started), finally doctors were able to reach the bullet fragment slicing through the tissue growth and removed fragment and the tissue growth. Dr. Chandrashekar (Cardiologist) along with assistance of Dr. Stephanie Brown (Gastro-surgeon) were able to conclude the surgery successfully! Dr. Chandrashekar removed his blood soaked gloves and exited the OT. On Dr. Brown's instructions, the Operation Theatre (OT) nurse guided a tired Maan out of OT. Dr. Chandrashekar was talking to Armaan in medical language i.e. One Cardiologist to another. Seeing Maan and rest of family approaching he simplified his lanuage, "We have removed the bullet fragment but as it was buried very deep inside the tissue there has been lot of blood loss! Once Mrs. Geetanjali Khurana recovers from effect of anaesthesia we will shift her in Cardiac ICU but NO VISITORS allowed for 24hrs. or until she gains consciousness whichever is earlier. True success of surgery will only be known after she gains consciousness. Please try and arrange for blood as she has lost lot of blood, therefore blood transfusion maybe needed!!" ( I know now a days blood transfusion is not done due to risk of AIDS, but I'm taking writer liberity!)

Dr. Chandrashekar excused himself and left to grab a cup of coffee after along and complicated surgery! Half an hour later, Dr. Brown came and said, "Geetanjali has recovered from anaesthesia but is only semi-conscious! However, we are shifting her in Cardiac ICU."

Khuranas and Singhanias were in state of stress. They made a schedule for being with Geet in hospital at all times. As now the meeting in AAYGS was over, Arjun, Yash and Adi were also back. It was decided that currently Adi and Arjun will stay. Maan was forcebly sent to hotel by Armaan as Maan was in OT for nearly 4hours. Armaan left for his rounds as he had no surgery scheduled for today. Tonight it was decided that Yash and Vicky will spend the night as children only sleep in Maan's presence! Tomorrow Morning, Maan, Riddhima and Armaan (when free) will be there. So on and so forth.

Maan reached the hotel and went to Rajveer's suite as he wanted to freshen up before he meets the triplets! Everyone knew once triplets see Maan, they will not leave him. Maan freshened up had his late lunch. Savitri Devi was informed of Maan's arrival, Savitri Devi, Riddhima and Vicky (leaving triplets with Martha)came to Rajveer's suite to inquire about Geet's health. Before Maan could say anything, Armaan came and narrated everything to the group including his sister's unconditional, limitless and eternal love for her husband, Maan not for business tycoon, Maan Singh Khurana. Savitri Devi said Geet had also continously called Maan even when she was shot at. Maan felt more guilty on hearing Savitri Devi's words that he doubted his wife who LOVES HIM AND ONLY HIM and calls herself as MAAN KI GEET ! Even in her semi-conscious state she only calls him.

The night passed calmly both at the hotel and hospital. Once triplets knew that their father will spend the night with them and not leave them they relaxed and slept in better and a comfortable manner unlike the last night. Maan lay in the centre, Prithvi on his right; Veer on his left; and Rini on his stomach. Thereby making it easy for Maan to straighten his back! Arohi and Martha left for Singhania house and her home respectively. Vicky had made sure that kids have heavy dinner before he left for hospital so that they can sleep peacefully at night, thereby making it easier for everyone around. Next morning, Dadimaa crept quitely inside the room and woke Maan for going to hospital. Maan bathed, got dressed and without breakfast, Maan and Riddhima left for hospital.

Adi was concerned for Anjali as he had always had a sisterly feeling for her. Initially Geet had been reserved due to her royal upbringing. But after her being shot by Rathores and Adi coming with Police Comissioner as soon as it was possible, she slowly soften towards him. After she had left KM on Maan's insult and gone to KC, Adi had offered that if she has problem finding a place she can stay with him as his sister in his home, which had removed the little bit of formality that she had with him. After 5years, when she met Adi outside AAYGS, without Maan and her brother's knowledge, she had got a pooja thali with 5 raakhis and tied on his right wrist and cried her heart out telling her feelings to Adi which she could not tell to her own brothers as they were infuriated and roaring mad with Maan and Khurana family. Adi was an orphan and had no one to call his own except Pinky Manchanda, receptionist at KC till Geetanjali came as a sister in his life! He was deeply moved when Geetanjali considered herself close enough to Adi share her pain with him.

Maan and Riddhima arrived in hospital, Adi was also present. Maan asked Yash about Geet's welfare. "Jeejaji, no news so far. The ICU nurse at 5am reported that patients condition is still same and we should arrange for blood! Which Vicky and I have done!" Yash updated Maan. Just then Armaan arrived and asked Vicky, he narrated samething as Yash had told Maan. Armaan asked Vicky and Yash to go home as they were there the whole night.

Riddhima asked Armaan, Maan and Adi to cafeteria to have breakfast while waiting as all four had come without breakfast. Armaan and Maan refused to have anything, Riddhima lost her cool on their childish behaviour and blasted on them, "Aap dono bacche matt banaiye! Aap dono ke naa khaane-peene se bhabhi jaldi theek nahi hongi. Agar aap dono ko unke liye zaraa sa bhi humdardi (compassion) hai to khud ko theek rakhiye, jiss se jab woh hosh mei aayein tab aap dono unhe healthy laagen naa ki abhi behosh honewale hain! Aur apne swabhav (attitude) ko badaliye jiss se bhabhi ko sabse zaada khushi hogi. Iss tehara muh latka ke matt battiye!" (Don't behave like kids! Just by your not eating and drinking, Geet will not get well soon. If you have any compassion for her then keep yourselves healthy, so that when she regains her consciousness, she sees you hale and hearty and not ready to faint. Change your attitude that will give her immense happiness. Don't sit with these sad and hanging faces.) Riddhima tried to drill sense in the two possessive, egoistic and arrogant men.

Maan and Armaan ordered light breakfast & coffee after hearing Riddhima's pep talk. They had just finished their coffee, when Armaan's pager beeped. He immediately got up and said, "Dr. Chandrashekhar is calling us!"

Armaan, Maan, Riddhima and Adi rushed in front of ICU. They found a worried and tensed Dr. Chandrashekhar and Dr. Stephanie Brown waiting for them. "I am afraid we do not have a good report to share with you. Mrs. Geetanjali Maan Singh Khurana has slipped into coma due to prolonged toxic effects of bullet fragment and excessive blood loss!" Dr. Chandrashekhar stated.

"We don't know for how long she will be in coma, it could be for hours, days, months or years! Only positive thing is that she is able to hear what we are saying but she cannot respond." Dr. Stephanie Brown concluded.

Dr. Stephanie Brown had just finished speaking when there was a heavy thud and falling of a phone but from opposite directions! Hearing doctors' report Maan had fainted. Armaan had felt extremely dizzy resulting in his dropping of his mobile phone. Dr. Chandrashekhar with Adi's help supported Maan and took him to a nearby room for examination. Riddhima supported a dizzy Armaan and made him sit on a chair, Dr. Brown brought a glass of water for Armaan and then left to attend another patient. Leaving Riddhima with her love, Armaan. But Armaan was not aware of Riddhima's love for him or chose to ignore her love! Today Riddhima for first time truly understood what Meera had undergone each and everyday in her life in KM by being close to Vicky, and Vicky constantly ignoring her!

Maan spent almost 4 hours in OT with Geet when she wasn’t in her senses. He must have felt how Geet must have felt during all these years. Maan is fulfilling the responsibility of being both the father and the husband. Loved how expressed Adi’s love for Geet and even didn’t forget Meera.

Interesting Chapter

Geet tells Vicky that she is handing over a huge responsibility to him

she wants that he , Riddihima , Daadima and Rajveer to take care of her children

the kids are introduce to all including Maan

its surprising that her brothers are not protesting that the kids stay with them

Maan spending time with his children

was great and I think this pleasure and joy he experienced

just having his children close to him , will change him for the better

Maan learns that Geet is critical in hospital and now he is

determined to bring his wife and children back home

with honor and respect

I like that Armaan and Maan both decides to be friends

this way together they can support the family and the triplets

its amazing just how pure and deep Geet's love for Maan is

though she does not talk to him but in this state its only his

voice his touch that soothes her
