Rajan Shahi denies “bigamy” claims in ‘YRKKH’ made by fans

India’s No.1 show ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ on Star Plus has been in the midst of uproar on social media after fans attacked makers of promoting bigamy in the ongoing storyline.

In an exclusive interview with Raj Baddhan on Sabras Radio, producer Rajan Shahi from Directors Kut Productions clarified the storyline and said that Kartik’s character only got married to Vedika, unknowing that his wife Naira was still alive.

Shahi said, “First of all, I don’t know why we’re talking about a second marriage. If you know the story, Kartik presumed that Naira was dead. He anyway didn’t want to get married but because of some compulsions or whatever, he decides to go ahead – knowing the fact that Naira is not alive. Secondly, if you’re watching the show closely, you will realise that when he meets Naira and when he gets to know about his son. By that time he is already married to Vedika. Its not as if after meeting Naira, he marries Vedika. Its like circumstance and destiny, which has come into play out here. If Kartik had met Naira once, then Kartik would have never got married to Vedika, that we know. That day he had got married to her and that day too he meets Naira.”

Shahi also said that viewers had to watch to the drama unfold as there will be happiness again between Kartik and Naira. In the interview, he also spoke about the abuse certain actors had received with this storyline. The full interview was broadcast on Sabras Radio – listen here.

Reporters should ask these questions from Ekta too, where bigamy, trigamy, polygamy etc. all are normal 😆 Ok .. Kartik married Vedika while not knowing that his previous wife was alive so what’s the status of these three people now .. Kartik got married to Vedika, that itself destroys the beautiful memories of Kaira Vivaah 1 .. Of course after that they went on getting married million more times, that’s a different thing. We all know at some point of time this Kartik Vedika wedding will get nullified, but what looks stupid, ugly and complicated is the mess that has been created. Either have the guts to show Kartik move on in life with Vedika and Naira too move on in her life with both of them coparenting Kairav or else this marriage makes no sense at all.. All in all it has put three lives in a mess. Or they want us to give them oscars for getting into this stupidly complicated situation and coming out victorious as a trophy for which Kaira will get married again

I don't know why he is promising KAIRA will get back together after himself destroying a lovely couple he made..he doesn't respect the viewers and fans..he just cares about TRPs clearly..now he is defending his stupid track of bigamy and remarriage,divorce,again marriage..he makes a mockery of marriage and relationships in his every track..

at one time this serial tried to depict the sanctity of marriage- and now the fiasco of marriage= the CVs need to understand that the fans are an intelligent lot not dumb to buy any story.

i honestly thought marriage wouldnt happen because at the last minute somehow kartik will see all those small clues they kept promoting where you can see naira is alive... like in goa that picture kartik took with kairav and the video when aditya came to show kartik the memory chip fell in the house... i legit thought those scenes were important hence the emphasis on them... so i dont get why show those and then change the storyline completely... like stick to what you show

I agree about what he says about the character of Karthik and this story was not trying to portray bigamy. It is just a complicated situation that came into Karthik's life and the series of events that took place.

“Kartik did not know that Naira was alive when he married Vedika”. However Rajan Shahi, you as showmaker knew that, so why did you create this bigamy mess?

He ruined everything and makes far worse with each week and has got the nerve to say Kaira are soulmates, best couple blah blah..in my TV watching experience this got to be the worst couple ever and will be the worst couple.

I hope they can annual Kartik-Vedika’s wedding since it was done in ignorance. Ignorance of not knowing that Naira was alive.

In the upcoming track I would like to see that Kartik-Vediaka already annulled their wedding after Naira was found alive. Now Kartik is just pretending to be still married, to get Naira back home.

It sounds good. I definitely wish something like this happens. But again I do not want to have hopes from yrkkh team.
