So, as a request from @Cinnamon_Kisses, here's an short OS based on the very comic discussion we had in yesterday's Ajao Saray thread! I wrote this in a hurry so there hasn't been any proof reading, I don't know how good it is. But I hope it's good enough! ❤️
THE LEASE
"Hanuman Uncle!"
"Ke ho gaya chhori, kyu chilla rahi hai aise?
Hanuman Uncle, suno toh aap. Abhi abhi Babes se baat karke aayi hu. Usne kiraye ka naya makaan dekh liya aaj. Bol rahi thi parso tak shift ho jayenge."
What?
"Mujhe kahi nahi jaana yaha se, Hanuman Uncle! Aap batao na Babes ko, rukao usko yahi pe."
"Arre, chhori, main ke bolu? Unka decision hai, unko jo thik lage. Mere bolne se thodi manengi woh. Unko to tu hi convince kar sakti hai bas."
"Meri baat nahi sunn rahi woh. Ek toh aap ki wajah se hi ho raha hai ye sab. Kitna kuch suna diya Babes ko uss din. Aur ab pata nahi kaise zid pe ade huye ho dono ke dono? Itna sab kuch ho gaya but thik se baat bhi nahi karte ek dusre se."
"Veer Balika-"
"Nahi, Hanuman Uncle. Aap baat karo usse. Kuch bhi karo, usko convince karo aap."
"Na, na. Manne na bol tu kuch aise. Mujhse na hoga yo."
"Arre! Aaj subah toh badi badi baatein kar rahe the aap. Veer Balika, thaare khatir to aasman se sab stars utaar ke aise haath pe dhar dunga. Ab itni si baat tak nahi ki jaa rahi aapse? Dhat."
"Par mere kehne se ke hoga? Main kuch kahu toh phir se bawaal mach jayega."
"I don't know, Hanuman uncle. Jo kuch bhi karna hai, karo. At least delay toh karo uska decision, taaki aap dono ko baithke baat karne ka chance mile. Aap ne usko jo bola hai uske liye aap ko sorry bolna hai abhi bhi. Roko yaar usse!"
Was it really yesterday when Minnie had promised that they were going to be with him forever? And now this? As much as he absolutely loathed the idea of the daughter-mother leaving his life, of Veer Balika leaving his life, what could he do? What right did he have to stop Babita? The most he could was request her to stay. And he knew she would never accept the plea. He had hurt her beyond any prospects of forgiveness. May be them leaving him and his house was supposed to be his penance. Didn't mean he was happy about it, though. He wanted them to stay. He wanted to stop Babita in any way possible. But what could he do? Babita had the legal aspects of their situation on her side. They were, after all, tenants in the house. Babita had all the rights to leave the haveli when their lease was up. Wait. The lease. May be...

"Dekhiye, Kirayedarniji, aap yo baat kar rahe ho ghar chhodne ki, woh toh thik hai, lekin ek ghani badi problem hai. Or uss problem ki wajah se main aapko ghar se jaane na de sakta."
"Aise kaise jaane nahi de sakte? Pura kiraya pay kiya hai humne ab tak. Kuch pending nahi hai. Toh phir kyu nahi jaane de sakte? Aur kis haq se rok rahe hai aap hume? Aapko koi adhikaar nahi hai ki aap hume batayein hum kya kare aur kya nahi."
"Ji, baat haq ya adhikaar ki na hai. Baat hai rules ki. Aapko yaad na hai shayad, lekin pichle mahine aap apni ghar ki lease renew kar ke gaye the. Pure 6 mahine ke liye. Ib aap agar haveli chhod ke chale jaaye toh yo toh breach of contract ho jayega, jo ki kanoonan aparadh hai. Aur Inspector Hanuman Singh yo hone na dega. Aap ko law and order toh follow karna padega."
"Breach of contract?"
"Ji, woh kya hai ki, aapne or maine yo jo lease sign kiya hai na ghar ka, woh hota hai makaanmalik or kirayedar ki bich ka contract, ki bhai, kirayedar itne itne mahine itne rent pe iss ghar me rahega. Aur uske jo rules, conditions ho, jo bhi. Ib humare lease ke hisaab se aap aur 5 mahine yaha pe rahengi. Lekin aap ne ghar chhod diya toh aap contract tod rahe ho, breach of contract kar rahe ho aap. Crime hai yo, manne pura haq hai ki main aapke naam pe FIR darj kara doon, case thok doon aap mother-daughter pe. Bhai Lale, jara Kirayedarniji ko bata toh ki Indian Contract Act ke hisaab se breach of contract ki ke punishment se?"
"Sir saab, waise toh penalty padti hai. Lekin jail bhi ho sakti hai. Woh to contract pe aur judge pe depend karta hai. Aur saath me case karne wala Compensation bhi claim kar sakta hai."
"Sunn liya? Toh Veer Balika, samjha de thaari mummy ne, ki yo sab aparadh Patiala Police ke respected Thaanedar ke haveli me na chalenge. Ib agar mhaare hi ghar me aise crimes hone lage toh ke law and order sikhaunga main pure Patiala ko?"
"Haan toh phir kya hua? Lease ka ye jo bhi contract hai, humare bich hai na? Woh contract tod ke naya contract bana lenge. Phir woh kya kaha aapne, breach of contract, woh nahi hoga."
"Aise kaise? Bhai, government ka system bhi toh follow karna padta hai ki nahi? Yo jo lease hota hai, woh karana padta hai register, Patiala Municipal Corporation ke paas. Toh woh register ho chuka hai, unke paas record ho chuka hai, ab yo cut shut, edit vedit, kuch na ho sakega. Contract toh aap ko pura karna hi padega."
This seemed to upset her a lot, justifiably so, since her plans of leaving the house had just been destroyed by simple law and logic.
Hanuman tried to look at the bright side. If they were still in this house, he might have a chance at apologizing for his behaviour. He might have a chance at dealing with the fallout. Whether Babita would accept his apology or not, was another matter. He had to apologise anyway. Other than that, what lay in their destinies in the future would be dealt with as it happened. Right now, he was going to try his best to mend what he had broken.

Note: Just as a clarification from my side, legally speaking, HS and Babita would have the option of rescinding their lease and going their separate ways. However, I don't think Babita knows the law well enough to know this. HS might, but since he's actively trying to stop her from leaving, he wouldn't tell her either.
