SPM  ~ My musings 10.5.19  Tongues of fire !

Fire is love, a passion that consumes. A devotion that burns,  refines ,purifies , and turns to ashes that which comes in its way. Fire is a source of heat that feeds creation. Fire speaks a language that all fear.  Fire burns, and reminds devotees  of the presence of the eternal flame. Sacred  flames that represent a higher deity.Fire  is light, that which  dispels the darkness of ignorance and  leads to the path of knowledge. Fire is the glow of a candle, a diva, a chirag  lit in the house of god  by believers.

Fire also becomes the stubborn ardour evoked in lover Zaroon’s heart for his beloved Saltanat .Fire also changes into a burning inferno of Kainat’s un-requited love; a sense of being rejected. Fire also acts as Kainat’s blazing release of age old pent up emotions; of being second best; a routing of her  upcoming desires and  dreams!

The episode is about a serious fire incident that transpires in the Shah household, where the excitement of a forthcoming marriage is a hot topic between the families. A burning emergency  that speaks for itself , but  still leaves room for varied  questions and interpretations. Was it a mishap? similar to when Zaroon  ends up meeting the wrong girl  Sultanat, insteadof Kainat ? or was the fire deliberate, engineered by Rubina to snap the good catch Zaroon for her daughter Sultanat?

In the midst of Humza and her sham wedding preparations. Kainat’s cold bland exterior conceals within her a heart that smoulders at seeing the fleeting love torn exchanges between Zaroon the  visitor, who came to India for her,but lost his love to her very own cousin sister Saltanat. Over a period of time Kainat  has learnt the knack of keeping in check  her fire of discontent and fresh  grief that, Rubina and Ghazala both load upon Kainat’s head as blessings  disguised as adding fuel to fire that burns her sense of worth!

For even the strongest, most humblest of young women ,  find  being rebuffed, discarded , rejected by a man  hard to swallow. To face elimination from a man spoken for her, that too at a tender age is a quite big blow for Kainat’s self esteem. Despite her moral and faith education , she is far from worldly wise. Zainab has  kept Kainat tied to her apron strings! We see the mother and daughter sleep together in one bed. They really are each other’s  back bone.  As much as mother and daughter are  close. They  also carry many disappoints  on their own also, to avoid conflict within the joint family.  We see wherever  possible, Kainat, shields  her mother from any caustic, acidic actions that  Rubina in particular  fires at Kainat.

Rubina’s scoffing swerve of Sultanat’s chunni meant for Saltanat’s head from Ghazala, upon  Kainat’s head, ignites further  the embers of having to accept the unwanted off casts of Sultanat. The whole affair o fRubina in particular , gifting Kainat , Sultanat’s  engagement  garbs, is meant to hurt  Kainat. It’s a  burning reminder from Rubina, to  Kainat, that she is responsible  for the snags between Saltanat and Zaroon’s alliance, which could have been carried out smoothly, had it not been for Mainjaan looking out more for Kainat’s consent,  for her daughter Saltanat .

I suspect Rublna is also bitter more so, upon her own daughter Saltanat , for fighting Kainat’s cause. Often a much frustrated Rubina finds .That perhaps too much liberalism granted to her daughter Sultanat by her, now turns out to be a rod for Rubina’s own back! The passing over Sultanat’s clothes to Kainat is to me, a scene, where Rubina tends to vent out yet again at Kainat, making Kainat fall in herown eyes.

What the almost partners in crime, Ghazala and Rubina   are unaware off, is that a time bomb begins to  tick already in  Kainat’s heart. Any moment the volcano of her patience will explode!  For the tongues of fire will send blazing messages  to all!  Where  words fail her. This blessed fire will become her a  most poignant form of communication. Let the onlookers read between the lines of this bonfire.

Kainat sets Sultanat’s symbolic garbs alight! She is desperate to  burn, the warped  turn of events where the one meant for her, was won over by another. Kainat ,probably feels  that had Sultanat not given Zaroon the eye, she would have  stood chance. The fire engulfs her in the kitchen.. the fire mirrors what goes through Kainat. Can the tongues of leaping fire tell her tale of being discarded?  Speak for the passion of love she feels for Zaroon? who was for her. Can the dancing hot flames speak about the pangs of heartache she has to muffle.. when she actually wants to scream! Well here in the kitchen let her ignited  fire , allow her silence  to speak for herself!!Today through the fierce menacing fire she will watch from the blazing kitchen, and listen out for her families members reactions..

Today silently , amidst the  fire , Kainat  will wait for her  saviour. It’s as if she is confident that out of all , he will be the only man present there! who will cross the threshold of the burning door frame! Her waiting is rewarded.. His words to Sultanat strike back at her… that to even touch Kainat is haram! forbidden! for him.. yet In great haste! he comes ! disregards danger to his own life. Forbidden or allowed! Zaroon comes to save her life! his hands swerve her chunni and symbolically throws his protective mantle over her head.. Kainat hangs on to the giddy feeling of being alive in the passing passion of love. Zaroon’s protective  arms interlock on  her back.. the fire may rage she wouldn’t know.. all she knew  that she was rescued, as she had dreamt ..by Zaroon

Of course smoke inhalation takes over her. Zaroon is fine bar the small scald he receives on one of his hands. Was he punished for touching the woman he had declared forbidden to him?   For Kainat it was  going through extreme measures to  purge out what went through her.. love, hate envy. The fire  also makes her realize that Zaroon too risked his life to save her.

Mind you, Zaroon, risked his life for two reasons. One  to score  points before Saltanat,  saving her sister whom she is much concerned about. His reward is a kiss it better! from Sultanat  on  his scald that both sisters give the gallant lover Zaroon!  The second reason ,is a plus point in his character, he tastes the joy of saving someone’s life..  so he could have endangered his life for anyone? not just Kainat?

Rubina and Ghazala are hell bent on catching Kainat out. Both scheming  busy bodies,  have the goods to  bribe the maid  into telling them the truth about the fire incident. Money can buy them the information , which can expose the true nature of Mainjaan’s favourite grandchild. Sultanat  too, can almost predict when her mother is up to no good in creating fissures in the family unit. Saltanat’s timely arrival diffuses the situation where the maid could have spilled the beans. Thus once more ,Sultanat  covers up for Kainat’s misdeed of not only putting her own life at risk, but if not contained  in time others, may  have come to harm also.

Kainat remains a vital link, a reason that enables both Saltanat and Zaroon to interact with each other.

In the precap, although Saltanat weighs the intensity of Kainat’s love for Zaroon, against Zaroon’s self proclaimed love for her, which she defines as just mere words, words!  Sultanat mocks Zaroon , that Kainat’s  single  action has sounded off louder than all his words!

But what Saltanat fails to take on board is a common feature  that can be seen in both Zaroon and Kainat,in this particular episode. This common trait  is that  both Zaroon and Kainat are ready to put their lives at risk for the sake of their love. Do opposites attract?

Another facet akin to both, Zaroon and Kainat ,is the deep intolerance both have towards  facing  rejection. They react rather strongly about being disregarded, by  those they care about. Kainat reacts rather dangerously due to being spurned aside by Zaroon.Zaroon  too has entered into a spate of  run ins  with Saltanat on the basis of  suffering a public rejection by  the girl he has  Sufiyana love for!

But Fire also turns to ashes when it’s put out.  But beware of that fire of Sufiyana love! that may on the face of it seem contained.. but may still carry embers  that can scald! concealed in  its ashes…I quite liked the episode from reviewing point of view. 11.5.19 hamlet53
