Bepannah My thought ep 171 9.11.18 Making the enemy dance to your tunes
Have to say loved this episode that in particular, touches upon two out of Chanakya's four strategies of Saam, Daam, Dand and Bhed. suggested for maintaining peace and insuring good governance in an establishment ; a kingdom or even within social setups. To explain briefly, Saam relates to giving and receiving advice to advance one's knowledge. Includes, negotiating information plus reconciling if the need arises. Daam is to both give and take . Offer or buy to get things done. Dand is to use, threat or punishment, to assert authority, assault or attack to get ends met. Finally we have Bhed the last of the four expedients, Bhed is also about, breaking, dividing and separating. Sowing dissensions in an enemy's party to win one over to one's side. This is the last means of success against an enemy.
Adi and Zoya s lives reveal a pattern that revolves around these four expedients. I would say all along since they got married they have both readily tried to keep things pacified and calm within both their families. Both are seen negotiating , supporting each other , working towards reconciling their opposing families.. they achieve temporary success ,but not for long!
With the arrival of Rajveer and nani in their lives.. Adi and Zoya are currently working together in meting out their agreed to, Dand as reply to those who have got in for all the Hooda's. This episode is an interesting show of how Adi and Zoya both make use of the devices and manoeuvres of Dand and Bhed.
During worship their family is quite unaware of the predicament Adi and Zoya find themselves in fending their family from the likes of Rajveer and his alcoholic Nani.. Both have kept their eyes and ears open to any excuses and ambiguities their enemies leave them with. The big one that Nani is an alcoholic is a weakness that Adi and Zoya stumble across in the two previous episodes. Adi certainly plans on exploiting this weakness of nani by far!
Interestingly enough they both get a divine sign from the Deities as well when the priest reminds all that every means fair or foul can be taken to exterminate evil principalities. In one exchange of glances between Adi and Zoya. Adi inspires her and Zoya whispers an idea crosses her mind! So really both think alike and make use of the expedient of Saam ,where they seek each others ideas and expound on them!
Aditya has the spark within him and Zoya further ignites him into action. If its about blending into the environment to become less visible, than Adi along with Zoya don camouflage techniques to trick the enemy into believing that Zoya is on their sides and an enemy to the Hoodas. Adi then charges on the infantry assault. Disguises himself into the Rustom Rajveer and Nani's ageing landlord! To dupe Rajveer into a quandary by making the shrewd cop, into believe that he has just knocked over their vulnerable old landlord!
This disguise is to allow Adi to get a one to one with nani. Adi pulls a fast one shocking act. Plays the victim to make Rajveer an victim. He puts Rajveer in such a situation whereby Adi turns Rajveer into a puppet dancing to his tunes. The act makes Rajveer into a culprit to an accident! The funniest bit is when Adi turns Rajveer into his skivvy! makes him spend his money to get his favourite Chinese take away meal! Adi acts up hit by Rajveer's car! What a performance Adi gives! The idea is while Adi works on nani inside the flat! Outside Zoya will follow Rajveer around to keep Adi updated on the cops whereabouts!
Adi applies Bhed to the full, he knows how to make use of nani's alcoholic problem! Tricks her into leaving the bottle of whiskey
bone dry! Feigns compassion, plays along drinking with
her, all to learn the truth, that they
hailed from Pune and her heart belongs there even though they moved here! Adi acts as the pretend landlord
so he can ask her from whence they came
from before they moved to their property..leave the foe no chance of becoming
suspicious!
Its amusing to watch, that all the medication that Rajveer offers, Adi rejects with great suspicion as the man's intention seem wily!! but is willing to accept nani's soothing medication! All to wrangle information out of her! Whle she passes out ! Adi rummages around the house in search of more information regarding this nani and Rajveer! finds two bills in the name of Kalapna Dadhich ! Adi takes a picture ONE photograh ! loved the way he uses nani's hairpin to open a locked drawer.. seems that poor Nani will get blamed! If Rajveer finds out that he some one rummaged the files.. so a thief did come into their flat to steal information! But all for a good cause in which Zoya and Adi work together! To save their family! From the evils plans of their counterparts Rajveer and Nani!
Outside Zoya is on the lookout for Rajveer! Once he collects the take away.. ready to return to his flat..
Zoya prevents him by ramming a parsnip! in the exhaust pipe of his car to prevent it
from starting
! so foul play! A means to a good end! Zoya
warns Adi.. in due course, she covers his back! and also pulls out the
obstruction in nick of time!!
The sound of his car is enough to alert Adi he settles in the bath tub holding on to the bottle dead drunk! and yes Adi kept throwing his shots in the flower pot! to keep his wits about him self!
Rajveer finds a dead drunk! asleep glass in hand Nani!
Fumes the old biddy drank again! Seeks
the landlord! finds him stoned as a fish
! Adi makes a quick get way! Has no appetite! has to go home! Rajveer is utterly
duped ! he decides its pointless talking
with a drunk! See both him and his nani have fooled Adi,Zoya enough by their threats! Now its their turn to
be spun in a web of deceit that Zoya and Adi spin around them unsuspectingly
! To stamp out their evil plans!
Arjun back at home has to deal with his stressed mother who feels all went well with the worship. Even Adi and Harsh sat together.. only Zoya this time too created problems yet again.. Arjun advices her to leave Zoya to Adi!! and that she take care of her self. This mum is needy .. but I loved what she tells her son, looking after herself means.. her family is well too!! But Anjana is hell bent that Zoya will yet again create a bigger problem! has low expectations of Zoya. Anjana's seemed to be on the mend, but she seems to continue having issues with Zoya! Mind you it gives fair enough reason for Zoya and Adi to continue!their undercover assault against their foe!
Adi wastes no time they have to act leave for Pune
right away Zoya advices him leaving together will raise suspicion..
she'll leave tomorrow he reminds her its
Lakshmi puja tomorrow.. she says she
will surely bring light to their home this Diwali.. they agree on setting off early in the morning and be back for the
veneration in time!
Both raid rajveers house in Pune. They come across
family portraits ..one man's face is blotted out all photos.. this raises their
suspicions towards this hidden ,phased
out face? Seems deliberate. ..
So now that Adi and Zoya have behind the scenes joined forces! We can anticipate that they will use all means to fight evil in which ever face it comes before them.. with Rajveer and Nani already the strategy of dividing and breaking them apart Adi and Zoya have reversed it back to them! it'll easier to break them separately!
Harshad as Rustom the Parsi landlord was hilarious complete in his get up and his
idiosyncratic mimicry of the accent!
