Bepannah ~My thoughts ~ep 99 2.8.18 Bitter sweet insanity of love!
Being pragmatic and realistic was Adi's forte. Idealistic dreamer he never was. Still being young and hotblooded made him dabble in love too.He made his dream come true and married his childhood friend Pooja.In time he startled.Woke up to face a nightmare of being cheated by his wife cum best friend. Adi thought his logical mindset would practically pull him out of the ignominy of being the poor man whose wife left him for another man.
The theme of cloaks, disguise, and mask runs through this episode too, Hooda house from top to bottom lies flooded with rainy waters. The heavens conspire to vomit out and expose the secret Anjana keeps hidden in there. A gagged, passed out Sakshi in need of medical attention. Anjana has to mask her secret from being revealed before her sons. The suitcase hides her foul secret. Her smuggle of a bagged Sakshi almost succeeds till Adi's eagle eyes notice his mother wheeling out some dreaded secret out of their house! Anjana's blank face masks a criminal act she keeps obscured from her family. Oddly enough Anjana can never never camouflage her dislike of Zoya. exactly like Wasim makes visible his dislike of one to all Hoodas.
The masked man..The only way Adi could face the world was to mask his grief out from the world. Behind his mask he felt safe, secure and concealed. No one needn't know about his grief as people as close to him like his parents too, failed to grasp the true nature and level of his emotional trauma, that corroded the inner recesses of his heart. In his brother Arjun though, he found solace and often took off his mask and revealed himself to be who he wished to be known as. One angry young man, hard done by nasty elements who very nearly buried the real fun loving, witty ,full of beans Adi.But Adi still keeps his mask handy and when things get too hot to handle! and the going gets tough.He pulls his vizor down as a buffer against attacks that show up his weak side.. an intact pure innocence that would never pick on the weak or the vulnerable.. In fact Adi caged his very heart too, to prevent it from receiving further emotional upsets and damage.
But with time people change and so do circumstances. So when Adi met Zoya it was instant and immediate, grievance, animosity and much conflict due to their disturbingly controversial connection.
In time Adi discovered she was more needy then he was! Every time she stumbled which was countless times, something gave way in him! and made him do such feats that he never even realized existed in him! it was this sweet wimpy wispy, fragile dolly bird Zoya! that began to see him as some kind of messiah. Gradually she and circumstances both inspired him to be her lord protector. Slowly, Adi began to occasionally interact with her without his mask on. He assumed she would flee from his erratic temper tantrums, but he soon learnt that Zoya would give him back as she got from ,insults, taunts, the lot! In short she never feared him in fact dared to tell him all the home truths about himself that he never wished to hear. She was a bitter spoonful of medicine which Adi didn't realize would taste sweet in his mouth! Adi felt that a lot of Zoya's mechanics were rubbing off on him! In turn he began to see his strengths rubbing off on her.Till the time came when they discovered that due to their connected ugly past, now history! they were no longer foes but friends forever!
This episode largely celebrates Adi's revelation that Zoya might be more than a friend to him. He appears shaken. Almost peeved with himself. We see him desperately fixing his mask on his face to shut out from the world what he is beginning to feel for Zoya. He is shifty and nervous about his private feelings, keeps them all to himself. In fact, meeting a sniggering Arjun who fires useless innuendos, at the breakfast table following his night at Zoya's place , annoys Adi! that Bhai must be well fed and well looked after at Zoya place like a damad! Adi puts on his defensive mechanism mask and prefers the peace and quiet of his shower! Not forgetting a black cup of coffee with half a tea spoon of sugar!! Hell! Zoya seems to possess his other half.. what bitter sweet lunacy of love!
Adi thought he could wash away all the insane ideas he was getting about Zoya. But the bitter sweet madness of, erhhh.. love takes charge of his brain cells makes him hallucinate Zoya clad on in bridal scarlet red! Holding the other end of his towel !what wild! devilish thoughts make sport of his mind!! Adi increases the power jet of the shower to clear his head! But its his heart! that makes him see her here! there! and everywhere!
Without a doubt its Zoya who cajoles Adi to don a white shirt her favourite colour! Adi stands before the three way mirror. His reflection that he gives a side glance, listens to the palpitations of his heart which he could have sworn beats, Zoya! Zoya! in every thump! But the real life Adi shrugs off the reflective image as madness of this love bug that he is bitten by! In reality he wrestles with his heart and rejects the idea of the white shirt his delectable ,temptress Zoya offers him and roughly pulls out a black as hell coloured tee-shirt! Rejects his self made Zoya's imaginary advances on him!
Does he wish this hallucination,was true??That Zoya dries, dress and bandage his wounded elbow! as in reality he did it bloody awkwardly almost lost his balance! His madness tells him ,her touch would be soft and magically healing! Adi confesses a mad fever has taken charge of both his mind and his heart! not even a cold shower can cleanse off this bitter.. yet sweet insanity! Still thank heavens for his mask! He dons it and leaves his room refreshed and well protected from the likes of nosy sniggering Arjun! Adi suspects he knows more than he should!
Adi needs to take a walk, to regain his mental composure! Insane thoughts, that fresh air could purge out naughty images of Zoya out of his mind! .This possession suffocates him. Only Adi's actions of going out for a walk in mud puddles and potholes is evidence of an insane idea! Poor Adi lands himself in it.The more Adi wants to run away from the family to hide his fresh unique insanity, the more cupid Arjun blocks his way from leaving! Arjuns words, Zoya heads for Hooda house! weakens Adi's resistance.
Zoya finds Adi left her house abruptly! with a scrawled thanks! without so much as even a bye! So typical of him! Still Zoya is not one to waste time!Duty calls. Besides, if Adi left her, she'll just have to go to Adi's house!
When Arjun tells Adi he has to stay indoors for the scheduled dance practice! Adi thinks not him but its Arjun who is stark raving mad to even think that Adi will dance! How can he ? he is no flipping dancer! He nearly shoves Arjun to leave.
But can Adi push past the figure of Zoya who blocks his way in the door way?? Adi stares at her face. Same dress he imagined her in earlier! Both his mind and heart play games with him ! Adi senses the insane fever rising from his heart to his head and then descending strangely to his dilated pupils! Zoya looks at Adi and thinks he does look a bit peaky! [haaa haah].. struck by something???.. it's amusing, how the lion turns into Zoya's little lamb for the dance rehearsal of which whether he likes it or not! He will be a part , its not for her but for his parents anniversary!
The dummy dance that further triggers both Adi's heart and mind plays more games with his unimaginable side. Figures move and perform dry runs to how the dance should be. Adi sits like a silent spectator. He is a non dancer, with two left feet and that's that! So far so good till Zoya is chosen by the choreographer to demonstrate some key dance steps! Something happens to Adi.. a bitter madness possess him gradually as the close proximity between the instructor is too much to bear for Adi! Suddenly the trial moves become too close for comfort. All he sees is the curve of Zoya's waist being handled by some bloke other than him! Its now or never! Jealous madness makes him barge in! break the dance step! with the exclamation, excuse me ! he needs the practice! He'll do the rest! Thank you very much! Zoya looks up into his eyes.. thought you'd never ask jahan panah...
Adi's mind certainly does the rest! What insanity is this?? that makes his hands rest on her body tenderly.. and his imagination goes hay wire with twirls, whirls, hugs ,embraces, whispering sweet nothings on the smooth back of her neck. in her soft ear.. his heart needs her heart... he cannot but help, being drawn to her.The rest of the world evaporates. Their souls too along with their co-ordinated bodies, glides to loves songs that strum against their heart beats! Soft flowing drapes pamper them, hide them! then reveal them! As Adi and Zoya float around space like a burst of iridescent weightless bubbles!
The sound of loud applause brings home reality to Adi! what sweet madness makes him haul Zoya off her feet! against his sturdy lurched body? she reminds him , practice ends..
But for the audience, headed by the lovable cupids. Adi the non dancer ! along with his dance partner Zoya get given the title of being the dancing pair of the present times! Adi growls he needed to clear his head, and yes Zoya is right he does flee from situations! This dance practice situation was mad enough for him to pull off his protective vizor! What was he thinking? That the world.. Zoya, cannot work out the mad passion his soul feels for her??? he is a basket case for sure! Adi storms off! Zoya wonders, deep down he continues to suffer some excruciating pain..
Adi is plagued with the same infirmity that Wasim suffers from.. Zoya and Adi's growing friendship may easily evolve into love. Could this madness be averted?? Wasim has a solution. Some Arshad bloke. Adi however begins to sense.. much may he try to cloak his true sentiments towards Zoya. Yet even this present bitter madness that casts a spell on him tastes sweet.. Zoya.. and she conjures up before him yet again! Hamlet53 3.2.18
