They say go take a walk! Walking is one fine way to mull things over , retrace and iron out niggling issues which loom over one's head. Walking relaxes the mind ,gives one the chance to keep ones own company. Often people walk away from situations that have the potential to turn volatile. Lucky ones survive accidents and walk away, from a near miss brush with death. There are some who walk away from their true selves. Then there are also those who out do, and defeat others without much difficulty and walk away victorious. Not forgetting ones who without batting an eyelash abandon bonds. Walk away, abandon from established relationships to forge new ones.Adi should know this one well, it happened both to him and his new found friend.
Yet for Adi this walk that he takes is one tailored made in the main, to makes him walk away from Zoya. She had suggested something on the lines of reaching out, and rebooting one's self. His directionless footstep reminds him, despite jumping through the hoops, he still feels hard done by the way things turned out for him. He was lost. Zoya did put him on track, but from now he himself should identify his bearings.
His stroll churns up all the fast paced of events he experienced today. By no means easy. His tired feet echo the fatigue of his parched soul. He is drained of emotions as he used up all he had. Mostly he achieved the unachievable. But his whole being continues to feel numb. The confessions of his shortcomings were over and done with. So was the sad parting with his past. Yet his lost in thoughts walk, is evident of that melancholia that often sets in, after one completes the last rites of a loved. Adi too feels an onset of panic , how as a person left behind, would he cope with Pooja's absence? Yes he willingly submerged her in the waters. Yet still, its hard to come to terms with the act of letting go of relationships that dates back to many year. Along side, Mixed feelings, flash of images of Zoya too walking away with her back to him gives his spirit a sudden sense of being further emotionally drain. His soul thirsts for a drink.. to cure his exhaustion and enable to walk on the road of life.
Adi and Zoya may crumble and crackle, long for a drink to quench the thirsts of their souls. By some miracle, the heavens open and pour down on both! The bounty and boon of the local seasonal rains!Symbolises their sustenance and bloom in times to come. The rain comes down! brings in much novelty and festivity! for Zoya. She pre-empted the weather, which highlights her recently acquired cautiousness and thus unfurls her umbrella to protect her from getting soaked.
Adi on the other hand continues his walk in the rain still submerged in his thoughts. He recalls how his interview with the press rained many praises on him for his courageous effort. But he also recalls how previously he had rained many curses upon the heads of his best friend Pooja and her lover Yash. He walks on drenched. still quite unaware of the rain. He is unable to walk away from his guilt and feels not the life giving energy of the heavenly waters!
But the skies pour down on them. Gives them both a god sent ablution to cleanse away their past mistakes . Purifies them, makes them transparent as the sheets of rain. Zoya receives her healing from all her blemishes of her past. But Adi fails to notice that he too is now squeaky clean and continues to walk in the rain weighed down with residual sorrow. His wounds continue to fester as he takes a walk down memory lane.. and thus his healing process stands delayed.
He can catch his death due to prolonged exposure to the constant heavy monsoon showers.. nature has to arbitrate! Zoya is Adi's canopy of shelter from water,fire or come what may! She is destined to be his shield of protection come rain or shine! or under any circumstances! Zoya is the chosen one to be nearby Adi!! .
In the rain scene it's her umbrella that is literally forced out of her hand by the gust of wind and blown towards Adi ! dropped by this side. We see he turns and stares down at the brolly! hesitates, then choses to accept the heaven sent help, to protect himself from the rains! Once again the water energy unites them! Becomes a source of interdependency between them. The beauty of this scene lies in the fact that without actively expecting or asking for help. It still arrives from Zoya. Like the falling constant flow of rain droplets. Zoya and Adi's support for each other is always there as right as rain itself! They seem connected like the rain is to the foldable. portable, contraption that forms a canopy of protection both in sun and rain.. both in good times and bad. All the symbols used, the rain, the umbrella, the wind , point to the fact, that whenever either of them are at risk, even distance fails to stamp out the intuition they both sense that the other half is in danger. If possible they fly to each others need! or in this case nature facilitates ! cv's make good use once more of the technique of pathetic fallacy.. here they use the falling rain, in place of a raging storm, to reflect the thousands of tears both Zoya and Adi cried after learning how their trust was badly betrayed by their partners!!
Children's shelter after being caught out in the rains is usually their return back to the dry warm comfort of their family home. Both Zoya and Adi too return home. The rains have a varied effect of both. The Mumbai rains wash off doubts in Zoya's mind! She finds new life, wants to extend her strengths in running Zosh. This time not for redeeming Yash s name thanks to dear friend Adi he's sorted that one out for her. This time she wants to see how far she can reach out to realize her own strengths!
Adi returns home as a man! The rains wash away the needy child in him. Mind you he can see the home environment still has the danger of pushing him back to being a child. Anjana molly coddling him, offering him the wrong stimulant a cup of tea ! is too much. Then fussing over what Arjun suggests.. by giving Adi the right stimulant to work with Zoya at Zosh! before Adi s compassionate pilot leave to an ends! Things get too much for Adi , he walks away from his family to mull over Zoya's words in the solitude of his room. To sort himself out , like Zoya suggested he needs to face all his good and bad memories of Pooja and him.. to begin life anew!
Adi's shower scene is yet further purification of his body, after burying.. submerging the ashes of Pooja's memories!.. But its mind he needs to purge more than his body! rid himself from the grief of losing a friend who was part of his life since childhood! Like Zoya had said purging himself would be according to his differentiated needs! Adi makes his mind. He will have to walk away from, the setting where Pooja's memories, his follies, mistakes surround him. Walk away from, everything, every one, that serve as reminders to Pooja and his own weaknesses.. he needs a change of scene. The walk in the rains cleared his thinking regards his next step!
Zoya smashing the lock opening at Zosh boasts of her new found intrepid spirit! courtesy of her dear friend Adi! who taught her to be more assertive in life before people walk all over her! Key and lock, again like the rain and umbrella are matching symbols that complement each other. Just like Adi and Zoya.. both incomplete without each other.. a most random match.
Party planning for Adi is a somewhat a reminder of Pooja planning a party with Yash at Zosh! now the two are out of this world !out of this equation. Now the management has changed. A single woman is at the top! She decides what she plans to do! In the first instance! A thank you very much! party for the snorting bull of a man! who grew on her and is now her very dear friend!
Planning a party for Adi at Zosh is Zoya's way of showing how much he means to her as a friend! the party planning is a dead giveaway to both Arjun and Noor that Appi and Bhai are rather enamoured by each other!
The corn on the cob.! are Adi, Arjun, Zoya and Noor.. the sweet unripe , tender ears of maize.. from two families.!Hooads and Siddique's. The off shoots bonding is sweeter than sugar, without the ,jaw breaking hardness of the ripened maize.. Even within these four the fondness and sweet cheekiness remains. Every time they interact the sweet , unripe memories of childhood pranks keeps brotherhood and sisterhood strong. Adi words to Arjun are an old brothers reprimand plus a foreboding of times to come. What Adi refrains from sharing with his parents, for fear of reaction he informs his brother Arjun! Once more Adi walks away ,leaving Arjun in charge of the camp.. while Adi is away fighting his own battles! the hardest ones to fight. What Arjun does is to send warning signals to Zoya !
Zoya does what any friend would do for a vulnerable friend! She races against time! Against destiny and barges into the airport! They miss each other she hasto stop him from leaving the country! Zoya blinded by her love for her dear friend fails to read the writing on the wall.. Let him go Zoya.. if he is your true friend he will return to you in a wholesome state than he is in now... destiny takes him away and destiny will restore him back to you!! will she wait for his return?? The ear phones; the tickets and boarding card falling, and finally the plane taking off are all omens to indicate.. Adi did the right thing by walking away from it all..in this instance.. hamlet53 11.7.18
Pacey episode with lots of food for thought content.. Zoya's Qubool hai.. suggests things have really moved on for her.. and for Adi..?? all will be revealed today???
