Bepannah ~My thoughts ~ep 72  26.6.18.   Moral compass

Zoya was the pampered princess without realizing it. The need to tackle  life's ways never really arose.in her tranquil life up in the hills. She received in abundance whatever she required.  Taking decisions were not really her forte. Those were taken by her father and she in role usually  confirmed  to them, as they always, were tailor made  and pandered to her needs.  All was comfortable, till she feel in love with Yash ,and made her  first  landmark choice of eloping with the man she loved. Since it was the issue of love culminating in the sacred bond of marriage, Zoya was directed by the moral compass of  virtues, , good value and ethics. However with regards to honouring her parents, she may have faltered in the  manner in which  she approached and  solemnized  her nuptials with the husband of her choice. Her atonement for her action was, that  her marriage remained denied of  her parents blessings. Plus  her father harboured an aversion towards her husband Yash. Thus there existed a certain aloofness between Zoya and her family,  after her clandestine marriage,  especially with her father who remained dismissive of Yash even after his death.

But all along Zoya set her life to follow the sound values and virtues her parents gave her ,despite becoming rebellious and self-willed  in marrying Yash.  Zoya suffered her fair share of being betrayed by the husband she loved. By being vehemently rejected by Yash's mother and sister. Yet Zoya   still keeps in practice, her sense of  correct virtues, her defined  knowledge  of  right and wrong .  Even after Yash , her so to speak cheater husband's death, she continued to  revive  Yash dying business, which was evidence of loyalty  not only for the venture  Yash started, but she kept her believe also, that his up and running business would be financially beneficial for  Yash's mother and sister.  Putting others first after Yash's death has become a moral standard she feels she has to maintain. Perhaps keeping herself less prominent, will wash off her yester years selfishness? When life only revolved around princess Zoya. Now Zoya still half given the chance, would like to see Madhu and Mahi live in the manner befitting them.. the way Yash would have liked to see them live in. All along in her recent harrowing experiences  she has maintained a clear moral standing, in how she responds  to both people that she comes across and the occurrences she faces.  Goes without saying that her moral standing has more than often made her come across as obdurately too perfect to be real ! but that in itself is a personal battle  for Zoya to fight..

Today's episode emphasizes   what moral high ground Zoya takes and the reasons she gives  for doing so. She does appear morally superior especially in comparison  to differing viewpoints she. comes across Its decision time. After much consideration Zoya concludes that she will reopen Yash's  to  challenge  false charges of   Yash  suffering from mental illness, committing suicide ,alongside  murdering  Pooja Hooda as well! We see in the previous episode and in this one too, how no stone is left unturned to  coerce  Zoya to   accept  the  acquitted   case as it stands.  All three families reason with her, convince her  its pointless  to reopen the case as it will cause  emotional grief to all three families. Best let sleeping dogs lie. But we get to see Zoya stoically abide by her decision. What strikes me is her stalwart belief in her morals, which  gives her the confidence to openly disagree with Harsh Hooda  upon the false charges  he brought out against  Yash.

What impresses me is that Zoya has moved ahead of this poor cheated wife/ widow tagline.  To me Zoya could have turned into a bitter woman, hated Yash for cheating , belittling her as a woman. This attitude  could have  turned her into an emotional wreck. But due to her moral compass that directs her, she opts for the noble way, of redeeming Yash's image and his family's honour! Which will grant forgiveness for Yash from her, and usher in that tranquillity for Zoya that comes in from forgiving those who have emotionally injured you. So really, Zoya does herself a favour by choosing the better option..

Throughout the episode there is an invisible battle going on between the moral and immoral fronts.  Within the Hoodas as with the Siddiqui's, care is taken that open war is not declared to shake the foundations of the family itself.  Aditya continues to do his fathers dirty work and tries to convince Arjun that dad  knows best  when he goes against the idea of reopening the case. Arjun clearly disagrees with both Adi and his father. Arjun is the silent  force of truth amongst this family, who continues to maintain his higher moral ground. Arjun follows more the voice of virtue..

Whereas, goodness too is feigned to gain an ulterior motive. Anjana patches up with Zoya's mother, keeps her sweet , kill with kindness, so Roshana  discourages her daughter Zoya from reopening the case.

The episode also deals with the issue of Zoya being singled out on account of her moral stance about protecting Yash and his family's wronged image before the world. The more she is subjected to both soft and hard pressure into abandoning her objective of reopening the case. The more Zoya  draws upon her inner strengths to resist outside  influences.

Her decision serves as a learning curve for her too. She has to accept that the two men, Adi and Waseem, both, are unclear about her decision. Both try to influence her to revisit her decision. Waseem does so as her loving father, when he reminds Zoya that  in court she will have to accept the disgrace of being the  wife  spurned aside  by her husband for another woman.  Accept Yash  Pooja EMA to prove Yash's innocence . Adi, influences her judgement bringing in their  newly established friendship bonding. For Zoya in both cases, she holds herself morally failing her responsibilities ,  both as a wife and as a friend, to her dead husband. To me she not only sets out to expose lies and liars, but also puts herself on the gallows.

But Zoya feels accountable to  one person.   One person she wants to pass by the independent  decision she has taken after careful consideration.

The meeting between Zoya and Adi was long time coming. He expected to get a visit from her. Again water becomes the source of their meeting.  This meeting will cleanse away many doubts, and clarify many issues between them.  Zoya's face is sullen and sober, the way she supports his hand from underneath and then briskly pulls it back, speaks of her being his support in his hour of need. But there is reservation from her side, if Adi will support her too, after he hears her out? Adi  senses her distance. Seeks to reduce it. Thanks   her, for side-lining her own pain by   saving his family from the bomb. Adi tries to deter her from reopening the case, as  the repercussions can be far reaching. Zoya shares in all honesty that their lies a connection between them, which invariably makes them support each other in dire straits!

The sudden gust of wind that flings upon the windows, is symbolic of the storm of  conflicting views  that  is about to unleash between them! Zoya in  a low and firm tone maintains, that  yes they continue to be each others support.. but wrong is wrong! As she has decided to reopen the case  to reverse the wrongs that have been said about Yash! Adi is livid and he points out how knowingly she fights the case for a dead man who cheated her in the first place!

Adi uses the pivotal reminder, that as a woman she was scorned and spurned by her man! Only for Zoya  it becomes a  good enough reason to  share with Adi her inner most  emotions, her guilt  that plagues her. For once, she holds herself responsible  for falling short of being a good wife .One  that a husband trusts and  shares his emotional problems with. It's interesting  when she confesses before Adi that  she was preoccupied  in her world of pottery making.. reference to clay, a malleable material, symbolic of how she was at liberty to mould and live life the way she wanted!  How she,on the other, ended up being an attractive pottery ornament, used to enhance the dcor of Yash house, but  not  alive enough to share Yash's troubles with him.  Zoya in all sincerity tries to stand up to Adi's short tempe , and gives him  another reason morally valid for her. About fulfilling her vow to Yash's mother about avenging the  tarnished image of the Aroras.

Zoya opens her heart and mind before Adi , on the pretext that Adi of all the people would understand where she is coming from.  He does understand her words, but only so much, that relates to his family being used as a pawns by her!  when she reopens the case  of Yash's death.  Adi by now can see that Zoya's decision is not for turning. He watches her leave.. and alone he to faces that he was unable to accomplish the task his father gave him to undertake. The Hoodas, are surrounded by fear of being exposed. Zoya leaves with mixed feelings, she got it off her chest, and that too before a man she still trusts her dear life with. Zoya's support system Arjun,  gears himself to support Zoya in a big way to fight the evil forces. Arjun and Noor can now be declared as a couple. Two more allies , in place to support Zoya, In her heart she has faith that one day Adi will understand and so will her father, that in reopening Yash's case she's not doing others a favour! But fighting a war on her own moral front.

To appreciate the full worth of the content and performance of the lead actors, watching the episode is strongly recommended.  Hamlet53 27.6.18

loved your analysis of the episode and totally in agreement of Zoy'a moral standard. It is and will be difficult for others to understand Zoya's view point. I did feel after watching the episode that Adi did understand her view point but was hoping she would support him over Yash.

Beautiful analysis ...it is interesting to see that Zoya lists her shortcomings before Adi who understands but at this point never connects the dots that even he had  similar  shortcomings ..he was too engrossed in his friendship zone equation to b a good husband ..Adiya are similar in more ways than one  n a time will come when they shall unite ..both were in deep pain to lose each other's support both were yearning to b on the same platform .to b  together in every situation .Aditya definitely was more saddened to see Zoya up against him than the repercussions of reopening the case ..Zoya's face fell n her hopes were dashed upon hearing Aditya's angry words ...already they are entwined emotionally...they are not yet a couple yet  even then the intimacy of emotions was far more palpable than all the flashbacks of their " married partners ...
We shall cherish  watching these wonderful actors  Harshad n Jenny πŸ‘πŸ‘

Hey Hammie!! πŸ€—

I have been harping since the day they got acquitted that Zoya's conscious will not let her live in peace. Indeed she has a very high moral compass. Right now she is shackled with Yash, even after being dead he still holds her prisoner through her guilt. Till she assuages her guilt she won't be free. She told Aditya that she made a promise to Madhu, She could even break it. But how could she break a promise which she made it to herself? She would fall in her own eyes. She was imploring Aditya to see from her point of view. Her emotional state is such that she has to cleanse herself from the tag of being a failure wife.
Whereas Aditya being the practical one, is afraid for his family. In fact he is equally worried about the Siddiques and the Aroras. And specially for her safety. If he would have been alone he wouldn't give a damn to the world and would have jumped into the wagon, but he is very well aware of the repercussions. So both are right in their own places.
Both are hurt right now. He, because she is choosing a dead cheating husband who did not give two hoots for her and not him who is living breathing and had been through thick and thin with her.
She, because he has always been her strength and emotional support, but now is unable to understand her pain and is siding with his dad.
The little scene of Arjun and Noor was sweet and indicated that both will become a support system to Zoya.
Aditya by siding with his father send his best soldier to fight for Zoya , Arjun Hooda.
I think that if anyone can defeat Harshvardhan Hooda in his own game (the court), It is Arjun.

I have been waiting since yesterday for you to post. And Boy!! Is the wait worth it!!!
Lovely, lovely post Hammie!!
Zoya is finally going to read Puja's Diary.

helooo zam123, πŸ˜ƒ welcome to Bepannah and my thoughts.. it was a powerful episode content wise.. loads of honest  admission from Adi and Zoya before each other..  they owed each an explanation... that in itself speaks for itself.. they matter to each other! Adi' expressions showed he  was moved by her words.. but he was towing his dad's line too... and yes his cry.. aur main?? craved her attention.. sigh...  thanks zam, for a thought provoking comment... much love hammie

hello mm260314,πŸ˜ƒ lovely to see you on Bepannah and my post
Beautiful analysis ...it is interesting to see that Zoya lists her shortcomings before Adi who understands but at this point never connects the dots that even he had  similar  shortcomings ..he was too engrossed in his friendship zone equation to b a good husband .
you are so right... he was  too much of a friend.. and she was not the friend  Yash needed.. both lack the balance being married and still being close friends with their partners..
.Adiya are similar in more ways than one  n a time will come when they shall unite ..both were in deep pain to lose each other's support both were yearning to b on the same platform .to b  together in every situation .Aditya definitely was more saddened to see Zoya up against him than the repercussions of reopening the case ..Zoya's face fell n her hopes were dashed upon hearing Aditya's angry words ...already they are entwined emotionally...they are not yet a couple yet  even then the intimacy of emotions was far more palpable than all the flashbacks of their " married partners ...
his  fury was so obvious of his frustration over losing her.. only just when he had begun to live life again.. Harshads near to tear expressions were  so credible ..
We shall cherish  watching these wonderful actors  Harshad n Jenny πŸ‘πŸ‘  indeed  they brought out the best in each other...    thanks so much for sharing your engaging comment... much love yours hammie
