Sidharth Malhotra made his Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's Student Of The Year in 2012. Today, the actor is celebrating his 33rd birthday and Karan made sure to be the part of the actor's celebrations last night. The two were all smiles while posing for the shutterbugs. While Sid looked dapper in a cool black and white tee with denim, Karan chose to go all denim way as he was seen in a denim jacket, ripped denim and a black round-neck T-shirt.

On the work front, the actor is currently on a promotional spree for his upcoming movie Aiyaary which is directed by Neeraj Pandey and stars Manoj Bajpayee and Rakul Preet.
Over the course of five years, Sidharth has explored different genres like romance, comedy, thriller, action and more. During an interaction with a leading website, Sidharth was asked if it was a deliberate move to try on different genres. To which he replied, "Absolutely. Right from the beginning, I have tried to do that. My first three films were of different genres. My first film was Student Of The Year, and obviously, you don't choose your first film. After that, I did Hasee Toh Phasee, a quirky, offbeat love story. Then Ek Villain happened, which was totally different from the previous two films. And when something like Ek Villain happens, it gives you a lot of hope and confidence to keep changing genres because you don't know what works, what clicks with the audience. They might accept you in a certain kind of movie, they might accept you more in a certain kind of role, get excited etc. After that, I just kept reacting instinctively, trying more zones."
Sidharth further said, "In my head, I still don't think I am in any particular zone. When Ek Villain happened, I wanted to try out a more intense, action zone, and it just happened, yaar. All the films I have picked were an attempt to try new things because I am not a trained actor, I have not done theatre. Also, this is my way of pushing my limits because I still don't know what I am capable of or what zone I can do best."
He concluded by saying, "Sometimes, I get very excited and I think that's what you need for a scene or a situation you have never been in. For example, as opposed to this film, I have never been in jail. But I was playing somebody who is being interrogated for murder, for lying or maybe not lying, that was very challenging and exciting. That is what I am pouncing on. Whenever I see something challenging or exciting in a script, I pick it up. And I have been lucky to have different kinds of movies come to me. So I am hoping that, years later, I will have a great variation as opposed to one kind of movie."
