For that edit I colored each one separately using clipping mask.
Any pictures that has the yellow background and black and white on the subjects, I used what is called color splash. I isolated only yellow color by using Hue/Saturation adjustment layer. Move all the colors to 0 saturation except for the yellows.
Any pictures with all black an white, I just used Black and White gradient instead of Black and White adjustment layer because it gives more contrast and depths.
And the middle picture is regular coloring.
I alternated the coloring on the edit so it looks more unique...1st picture from the top left has color splash, 2nd picture Black and White , 3rd picture has color splash...etc.
I hope all of this make sense.
