Devakshi OS: Tumbling in the Dust
Today was Saturday and Golu and Soha knew what that meant.
It meant dusting day.
The day they had arrived here, Sona and Dev had made a week schedule and because Sundays were a day where they all wanted to relax and enjoy, Saturday was deemed to be dusting day. Soha jumped off the bed and ran to brush her teeth. After having done so, she went ahead to start with a very difficult task, to wake Golu up.
She poked Golu on his stomach and said, "Goluuu Utho naah. Bohot kaam karna hai aaj." Golu groaned and turned other side, "Paanch minute Suhana, phir uth jaunga." Soha slapped her forehead, "Is lazy Golu ka main kya karoon?" Soha thought hard. She had to wake Golu up as soon as possible. She had a plan that they had to execute today. Suddenly she was struck with an idea. She ran into the bathroom, filled a mug with a small amount of water and ran with it to the bed. Slowly she poured it over Golu. Golu sprang up from the bed, " Suhanaaa! Kya kar rahi ho! Apne brother ko water me drown kara dogi kya?"
Soha giggled. "Kya karti? Tum toh uth hi nahin rahey the. Ab jaldi se brush karo. Mujhey tumhey ek plan batana hai." Golu forgot all his anger in a jiffy. "Plan? Kaunsa plan?" Soha winked. "Pehley fresh hoke ao phir batati hoon." Golu raced off at top speed. He didn't want to waste a second when it came to their plans.
In the meantime Sonakshi sat on the dining table working on her laptop, while Dev was in the kitchen cooking breakfast. A notification on Sonakshi's phone alerted her about an incoming message. She checked her message, sipped her coffee and said, " Dev, kal Elena bachhon ko Amusement park le jana chahti hai." Dev came out of the kitchen balancing three bowls at once. Setting them down on the other side of the table he said, "Nahin, koi problem nahin. Par usey kehna ki tum aur main bhi saath chalengey. Yeh dono bachhon ko akele Elena nahin sambhal payegi." Sona nodded, " Haan. Woh bhi sahi hai. Waise yeh dono abtak so rahey hai? Roz toh jaldi uth jatey hai. Ruko main dekhkey aati hoon."
In the past one week that Dev and Sonakshi had started living together with Suhana and Golu things had changed between them. They had almost stopped fighting. They were friendly towards each other and even cracked jokes. Also secretly, they had started to enjoy each other's company ones again but both were too stubborn to admit it out loud. Another significant thing about their slowly healing relationship were Golu and Suhana's antics. They never failed to make everyone laugh and kept the atmosphere of the house happy and content.
Just as Sona was about to climb up the stairs to go get Golu and Soha, the said kids bounded down the stairs giggling mischievously. Sona smiled, "Arey waah. Aa gaye tum dono. Dekho kitna yummy breakfast tumhara wait kar raha hai." Soha and Golu hugged Sona first and then went to Dev. "Papa yeh khana aapney banaya hai?" Soha asked happily. Dev nodded proudly, " Of course. Bohot mehnat se banaya hai. Jaldi baitho sab." All of them piled around the table and took their seats. After having two bites of his Aloo parantha Golu said, " Kya Bigcha, issey achha toh Bigchi ka aloo parantha hai." Soha mock glared at him, "Ei Golu, mere papa ko aise mat bolo. Yeh bohot achha hai." Sonakshi smiled. "Koi baat nahin Golu. Dono ka same hai."
Golu made a face, "Bilkul nahin. Bigchi, aapka zyada achha hai." Soha put her hand up, "Papa ka zyada achha hai." Sona and Dev could feel a debate starting to form. So they looked at each other knowingly and then Dev spoke up, " Oho. Kya farak padta hai kaunsa achha hai. Tum log khana finish karo. Aaj dusting bhi toh karna hai naah." Soha looked at Golu in a way that said that she was indicating something. Golu immediately caught on and said, "Haan yaad hai Bigcha. Aur kyunki aapney hum logo ko prove nahin karna diya who's parantha is better, aaj hum teams me dusting karengey. Aap aur Soha, main aur Bigchi." Dev tried to protest but Golu and Soha wouldn't listen to anything. Seeing that the situation was going out of hand Sona intervened and said, "Achha achha theek hai. Teams me hi hoga. Ab jaldi khana finish karo. Phir we'll start."
Satisfied that their demands had been met, the kids finished their breakfast quietly.

An hour later, all four of them were busy dusting. While Sona and Golu were dusting the drawing room, Dev and Suhana were dusting the bedroom. Because the drawing room was much smaller, Sona and Golu finished first and decided to go up to help the other two. On seeing Golu enter the room with Sona in tow, Soha put on a serious expression and said, "Tum yahan kya kar rahey ho Golu?" Golu matched her expression with his own and said, "Hum yahan tumhari help karne aye hai. Bigchi kitni achhi hai dekho." Dev smiled at Golu's comment and looked at Sona. Catching his gaze Sona blushed slightly which didn't go unnoticed by the other three.
Soha giggled quietly, but quickly turned back to her previous expression. "Theek hai. Abhi hum is big Bookshelf ko clean karengey. Mumma, aap aur Golu left side lo, main aur papa right." After everyone got to their task, Soha winked at Golu to which Golu smiled and nodded. He turned to Dev and said, "Ek competion kare Bigcha?" Dev furrowed his brows, "Competition, kiska?" Golu stopped what he was doing and said, "Aloo paranthe waali baat prove nahin hui toh kya hua, abhi ek game kheltey hai." Golu waited for Sona's approval. When she nodded Golu said, " Aap aur Bigchi upar se second row ko clean karo. Jo pehley apni side poora karega, woh winner!"
Soha immediately piped in and said, "Haan haan papa, mumma. Please karo. Bohot maza ayega." Even though Dev and Sona were extremely reluctant about it, they agreed to play. After all they could never really say no to Soha and Golu's harmless fun. While Dev could reach the row without a problem, Sona had to stand on a chair to reach it. Dev was towards the bed, while Sona was beside him.
Golu and Soha stood on the side cheering them on. As Golu and Soha screamed Start, Dev and Sona got to work. They had to live up to the kids expectations so both concentrated on their work. Unknown to them the chair Sona stood on was slightly broken. So after a point it started swaying, but Sona didn't put her mind to it. Golu and Soha knew it, so they had dragged a spare mattress and put it on Sona's left sid. If she fell, it wouldn't hurt her. They had planned that Sona would fall on the mattress and Dev would come to her, worrying and then Suhana would show them that they still worried about each other.
But Sona didn't sway on the left at all. While reaching for a book too far on her right her chair tilted more than it should have and she slipped. Soha and Golu screamed along with Sona and all three of them closed their eyes. When all seemed too still, Soha slowly opened her eyes to see a sight that made her smile. Lying across the bed was Dev on top of whom was Sona. She poked Golu and said, " Golu! Aankhein khol! Papa ne mumma ko bacha liya!" Golu immediately opened his eyes and smiled, just like Soha.
But Dev and Sonakshi were oblivious to the kids once again. They were so lost in each other's eyes, that they forgot what was around them or what had happened. Dev removed a lock of hair from Sona's eyes and tucked it behind her ear, " Tum aaj bhi kitni khoobsurat ho" he whispered in a trance. Sona was intending to say thank you to Dev for saving her. But his eyes distracted her. So instead of that she said a soft "Thank you" after Dev said that.
Soha and Golu crept up behind them and loudly said, " Khoobsurat!" And burst out laughing.
Sona and Dev jumped up and moved away from one another. Once again Golu and Soha had struck with their antics.
Staying away from each other was becoming very difficult day by day for Dev and Sonakshi.
