What a fabulous fabulous NaiRan scene!!! Samridh Bawa take a bow! Today he was just another level. I know NaiRan scenes are always something special but today was a class apart. Everything was perfect, the build up, the break down, Karan's feelings, Naina's inner thoughts, just everything. Today is a real milestone for them. They both let each other into their thoughts, Karan obviously more but Naina too in a small way. And it was simply sublime.
It started with Naina entering the room and seeing everything broken and scattered. She was looking for Karan and found him by the window, playing his guitar. How broken did he already look?? It was so painful. But he still had some semblance of control over himself. He apologized and she thought it was for messing up the room. He said it was because she , who always came first, lost because of him today. And Naina was slightly taken aback. She tried to say that it wasn't so bad, they also got a prize but he countered that it was not winning it was simply a consolation. And that is from where his breakdown started. And Naina could only stand and watch him go to pieces.💔
Gosh Karan was just let everything out today and it was so heartbreaking! Everything he said today, all his years of frustration and disappointment just flowed out in waves. How he is the one who always loses, how he always is doing fine and thinks he can win but something happens and he can't win, how while everybody goes through ups and downs, his share always has defeat, how that is why nobody has any expectations or love for him. Samridh totally owned this. You could see the transition so clearly of him trying to hold on and then slowly letting it go, it was mind blowing.
Then comes the most heartbreaking moment. Naina is looking at him and he says she must be thinking that he is not happy for MeghNal but that is not the case. "Main unke liye bohot khush hoon Naina. Par ek baar, bas ek baar main bhi dekhna chahta hoon ki jeet ke kaisa lagta hai yaar." THIS. You have no idea how much my heart broke at this. 🥺All he wants is to win one time, just one time to see what success is like, what appreciation is like. I can't even imagine how much this has hurt him.
He says how Maasi Ma has always told him to stay away from things that don't give you pain and that is why he doesn't participate as he always loses. Naina interrupts at this and says something very interesting. She says that all her life people have compared her to her sister and she has always been lacking but that doesn't mean she has given up participating. This was the insight I was talking about earlier. She didn't say that it never bothered her, which is what I was expecting, but that she never gave up. Seems like there is some story there also, that despite the love for her sister, there have been incidents or moments of doubt for her too. I think this will come up later, and will probably help NaiRan understand each other more.
Karan counters that yes but she always had a loving family to support her, nobody blamed her for small mistakes, nobody scolded her for everything. If she didn't come down for four days... he faltered at this and his voice broke further it was so sad buy Samridh was brilliant. He continued that not 4 days, if she didn't come down for 4 hours then somebody would come and ask her if she was alright and if she was not upset. This was so painful! In face of all the manipulation and misunderstanding, he has really been so hurt. It is so sad!
Naina then says that she doesn't know if running away from things gives him happiness. She asks him is he happy? Then comes another one of those heartbreaking dialogues. "Main khush nahi hoon. Kyunki aaj meri vajah se hamesha jeetne vali Naina, haar gayi." THIS. What is adding to his misery about losing is that she also lost with him. He feels he has let her down. She really has come to mean a lot to him.
He reiterates that she should stay away from him because his dark shadow will always haunt her. She says that she never runs away from problems and he is not even that, he is her close friend, why will she run away from him? By this time, Karan's strength has given away. He just cannot say anything anymore. He gives her back the plastic gloves and asks in a very broken and low voice, "Please. Akela chod do mujhe." Both of them have tears in their eyes, both are hurting, for themselves and for each other. She goes outside and he shuts the door. Both of them lean against it.She has flashbacks of all the happy moments with him, now only memories because they are back to square one. That last shot was so brilliant! Both of them against the door, with tears in their eyes, just a thin partition between them. So heartbreakingly beautiful!❤️
You just have to see this entire sequence. I have written so much but nothing captures its beauty or brilliance.
Elsewhere, Khyati is finally considering that Naina and Vishal want to help Karan. Yay! About time.😆
