The forum is heated up over Dev and Sonakshi. So let's take a step back and let me tell you a story.
Yesterday after work, I was supposed to meet Pehchaan.Kaun aka Guddi. Since we both work in the vicinity of Eaton Centre, that is usually our choice of location to meet.
Those of you not familiar with Toronto, let me give you a brief sketch.
So there are two streets in Toronto which runs parallel - Yonge Street (pronounces Young Street) and University Avenue. So draw two parallel lines in your imagination.
Then take the bottom of the lines and join them in a uniform "U" shape. That is Toronto subway line 1.
So Line 1 goes down Yonge, then at the bottom, turns and goes up University Avenue.
So any streets that intersects those parallel streets have two subway stations - one on Yonge intersection and one on University Avenue.
So for example, on Queen Street, we have Queen station at Yonge and Queen intersection and Osgoode station at Queen and University intersection.
On Dundas, we have Dundas on Yonge and St.Patrick on University. Guddi's office is by Dundas subway station.
Why I am telling you all these?
Coming to that point.
So Guddi and I met and I told her that I know a great Indian restaurant which makes awesome Biriyani so we could go there. She agreed.
So I took her to subway and told her that from her work, she has to go six stops total southbound. So three stops down on Yonge and then after the subway turns three stops up. It took us 30 mins. Remember this.
We got down the stop and I gave her meticulous instructions on where to get out, which direction to walk.
Then Guddi tells me, "Ummm Tia, this place is looking very familiar to me."
So I asked, "Oh, have you been to St. Patrick station before?"
Guddi said, "No. But this street looks very familiar."
Anyway, I took her to the restaurant. She said that, "Tia, even this restaurant looks familiar to me."
And I was on my analytical mode, "Ooohhh... May be this is like those Deja Vu feelings."
Anyways, we get our food and suddenly she uses Google maps and says, "Tia, we are only 5 mins walk from my office."
Now think of my explanation. When in a "U" shape, you get three stops down and three stops up, you are basically on the same street. So we wasted 30 mins to land on the same street.
Yep, that's how great my direction was. I am directionally challenged. Which means, I never veer from the way I know because I am afraid of being lost. But poor Guddi had to go all the way down to all the way up to land up where we started.
I told my husband what I put Guddi through. He said one of his over-used lines with over-used heavy sighs, "That's my Tia".
Moral of the Story: Use Google maps.
