After eight years of run "Balika Vadhu," the longest running Hindi fiction show, came to an end on July 31. While the show gained immense popularity with its unique concept of child marriage, the post-leap drama of the daily soap that introduced several new faces failed to connect with the audience.

Ruslaan Mumtaz, who played the male lead Krish on the show after the time jump, is disappointed with the fate of the show. Ruslaan, who expected the show to run for another year or two, pointed out that there were several factors, which affected the show's ratings.

"See, there are many reasons behind the failure of the second season of Balika Vadhu. First of all, post leap, the series shifted its focus from the issue of the evil social custom, child marriage. Naturally, the audience didn't connect with the new theme of the show, which was more like a love story. Moreover, none of the actors from season one was there in our show, automatically for our viewers it became an entirely new show," he told Tellychakkar.com.

It is believed that the show timing, which was shifted from 8 p.m. (prime time slot) to 6:30 p.m, was also another reason for the dropping Television Rating Points (TRPs).

Talking about whether he had any insecurity while shooting for the show since the post-leap drama of "Balika Vadhu" had two male protagonists, Ruslaan said: "On the contrary, I was very happy as I thought that the work load would be a little less but his track also changed. I only wish it would have worked out well." The actor, however, is happy that he made two good friends on the sets, Mahhi Vij (Nandini) and Avinash Sachdev (Dr. Amit).

In other news, the former cast of "Balika Vadhu" including Avika Gor, Shashank Vyas, Toral Rasputra, Surekha Sikri and others, who gained recognition in the industry with their excellent performances on the show, recently had a small reunion to mark eight years of the show

Hey thanks for sharing
------
I agree with Ruslan's thoughts. Season 2 was like a whole new show with all different actors and theme.

Plus it was regressive in every sense. Right from the back drop to the character sketches and the storyline.

It was so hard to believe that the children of two influential families would have this fate. So of course the old viewers wouldn't want to watch a show that had no connectivity or quality.

New audience and fan followers of the new actors came in, to support the show, but extremely poor performance by the lead actress and others, was a huge disappointment for those willing to support the show.

Hopefully, this failure is a good learning lesson for TRP seeking producers and their creative team.

Finally sense seems to have dawned on Ruslaan Mumtaz.
There was total lack of connectivity between season 1 and season 2.
But along with the disconnect poor writing and poor performances also were responsible for the resounding flop of season 2.

To be honest the love story with hospital and medical profession as a backdrop is not a bad idea at all.It would have worked well as a new show or if they had taken pains to establish a proper connection between the two seasons.

I stopped watching it because of these two reasons ;bad job from new team behind the screens as well as on the screen and no proper connection between the two seasons.

My SIL who watched season 2 regularly felt that disconnection was the most jarring thing. She said she felt that she was watching a new show until Kundan came along😆May be many viewers felt that way.

I really hope the channel and PH have learnt some lessons from this debacle.

In fact the channel and PH in their desire to get most number of episodes they ruined three stories.

They sidelined Anandi's story to make way for Jhalra story which they thought would make Nandini into another lead and then they ended that story abruptly by finishing off the characters in an abrupt manner to bring in Lamhe Pyar ke.
While Anandi's story had been the most impressive of the lot even when it was at it's worst Lamhe pyar ke and it's female lead could never measure upto the original Balika Vadhu all because of poor selection of cast, bad performances and worst possible writing.

Had LPK captured people's attention the shift in timing of the program would not have mattered at all.

The funny thing is that he never mentioned the main factor that led to the collapse of the show, which is poor direction and poor acting by the so-called lead actors.
No one ever hates to watch a blossoming love story if shown in a proper realistic way...  But who will watch the love-crap of a young 23 yr-old Intern, who was more immature than a 10th pass boy, with his 29 yr-old doctor supervisor who looked old enough to be his mother ?

So what if old viewers could not connect??  if the actors did their job well, they would have found new viewers... The show failed only because of poor acting by the cast. ðŸ¤¢ why blame the time slot and the theme?
