Salman Khan's Sultan makes way for Great Grand Masti in theatres, thanks to Aamir Khan & YRF

Actor Aamir Khan called up Aditya Chopra to request him to let go of some screens for the Indra Kumar directorial in an effort to fight online piracy.

Filmmaker Aditya Chopra, head of Yash Raj Films, has shown support for anti-piracy in an unusual way at the cost of his blockbuster Sultan. The Salman Khan film is on its way to creating box office history, having already made Rs 100 crore in five days of release. Sultan released in thousands of screens at multiplexes and standalone movie theatres. So, Aditya Chopra could've easily continued with that for the next three or four weeks, with no big-budget Bollywood films releasing in this period. That way, Sultan would've earned more crores at the box office to boast about.

But in a rare effort for solidarity, Aditya Chopra is willing to grant some screens of Sultan for the rescheduled Great Grand Masti, reports DNA. Apparently, actor Aamir Khan called up Adi Chopra to request him to let go of some screens for the Indra Kumar directorial. This happened at a meeting between Aamir and filmmakers Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor to discuss piracy, reports the daily.

The release date of Great Grand Masti was changed from July 22 to July 15, 2016, after the complete film was leaked online. After Udta Punjab, this was the second film whose censor copy was leaked by pirates. What's more, Salman's Sultan is also available online, although YRF is usually very strict about even a picture or song from its films being used without permission.

So, this is how Salman Khan's Sultan - a film that has met with stupendous applause from critics and audiences alike - has generously made way for Great Grand Masti in theatres. Hope its worth it! However, there is still no solution for online piracy yet.

Meanwhile, also showing support to the Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani and Vivek Oberoi film is Madaari director Nishikant Kamat. Madaari was shifted to July 22 from July 15 to again make way for Great Grand Masti. Kamat said in a statement, "I think the film industry needs to be more supportive of each other. While we were apprehensive to shift our date again to July 22, we felt strongly that the cause of piracy owing to the leak of Great Grand Masti was more crucial, and as creative people we must all support each other and create an eco-system where we hopefully can survive through such tactical ways to fight back things like piracy."
