Does Shravan love Sumo. Really?

Posted: 7 years ago

This question has been hovering at the back of my head since the suicide track.

Sumo loves Shravan unconditionally.  Yes she was insensitive as a teenager, but Shravan had his revenge and all is fine.  But around him she is seems to be walking on glass.  She is scared to push the wrong button, does every thing with no expectation.  What does Shravan do in return?  Shouts at her for the smallest thing that goes wrong.  Ditches her when she hurt her foot.  Angry with her almost at all times, the anger has many names to it... jealously, insecurity, child man etc.  But end of the day he does not treat her well.  Yes he did her a big service during the Khosla track but does that justify his acts 😑?

Everyone is talking about Sumos acts as rash and tactless.  But how else could it have been done.  Here is a son who runs away just like his mother.  She sure was short of time... as she is either with a stone or the dog.  You need both at the same place to hit the dog!! πŸ˜†

Sumo cannot introduce Nirmala to Shravan without hurting him. Plus how would she explain everything to him when he comes to know that Nirmala was at Tiwari villa all this time?  Assume that Shravan DID confess to Sumo. What would she do when she sees Ramnath manipulating Shravan and how it hurts him?  So one way or the other this bomb had to explode.  Masala was required so R&K arrived in time to create havoc.

But I am not liking Nirmala being portrayed as this abla nari.  Is she not running  a big business?  Where is her spunk?

Back to Sumo, now Shravan has said he hates her?  I can understand her going to him to apologise.  But how long can she just keep going after him?  Shravan wants Sumo's trust, belief and commitment in a platter.  When is he going to return all those to Sumo with interest?

I know guys, Namik is a hunk and we all go "blaa" in front of him.  But for some time think about Shravan without thinking about Namik πŸ˜†  I know its a tall task but, do tryπŸ˜‰ and tell me what next...

I absolutely adore how you bring a new viewpoint to the table!
I agree, to a degree. I feel as if the pct demolishment track will help Shravan realize this. When Suman for the furst time does not trust him it will hit him heart. The girl who trusted him to stop her from jumping now does nit trust him.
Shravan will start to trust Suman, while Suman will start to hate Shravan... Shravan will have to win back her trust.

I totally agree... Sumo is more stable emotionally than shravan... When it comes.to serious matters she is a.matured lady and shravan is a man child( a giant one)...
Shravan is gonna have a hard time getting sumo back cpz unlike shravan suman actually knows how to move on and to be strong from inside...

Problem is Poppins we cannot think Shravan as not Namik. It is a tall taskπŸ˜†πŸ˜‰
On a serious note, you asked does Shravan loves Sumo? And this can be answered by what Sumo said the other day: "You will not fail me"

Has he ever failed her yet? If yes... I will only ask you to watch the future track.
If you do not feel it likewise, then we can chat (though tomorrow.. feeling sleepy)

I have always identified with Sumo. Come on, she is just like any of us here. Independent, educated. With opinions and convictions of her own. An identity of her own.

She is actually my favorite character, and the main reason why I watch the show.

However, today, I think unilaterally all of us felt bad for Shravan because it was sad to see him manipulated by his own dad.

I totally get what you're saying about being biased towards the male protagonist on account of his appearance. I have seen it myself in other fora too, where fangirls will support every action of the hero, be it right or wrong.

But today, i did objectively feel that Sumo was rash- not in her thought processes, but her actions. Her impulsiveness and impetuosity have always been her downfall.

But I love seeing her this way, because it is her personality trait. She is not a perfect "angel of the house", as is the case with most TV heroines these days. She has flaws, and that makes her so real. And relatable.

I totally agree about the part that Suman always has to walk on eggshells around Shrav. But that, i guess, is part of the template- right from Elizabeth/Darcy- to all the Mills and Boons written to this day- the hero is the dashing, tempestuous figure, a brooding, sullen, and unapproachable personality. And ultimately it is the heroine who wins him over and transforms him with her wit, her love and her patience.

It might be an unfair template- but it always works. Just look at all the top romance dramas in the Hindi TV industry itself- like IPK, QH, YHM, etc. They all have this template as the foundation.

I'd like to think that what makes EDKV different is that it doesn't brush away the hero's actions under the carpet. It makes the hero introspect, and rise to the occasion when needed. And it acknowledges something very vital- the fact that a woman can have self-respect and can fervently protect it at the cost of great personal sacrifices.

That being said, I'd love to see a track with a vulnerable Sumo and Shrav who has to walk on eggshells around her and turn her around. The potential is very much there. For eg- who'll support her in her family after her Nanu passes away? And a question that has bugged me throughout the series- what's the deal with Sumo's dad? Nothing much is revealed about him- just in bits and pieces. I'd love to see some angst from Sumo proceeding from that area- and Shrav being her rock in that time.

Sorry for the essay! Lovely topic, BTW!πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

Lol... I know that tooo... but no guessing games till you reveal all the cards Indrani.  You are not telling us the story ahead yet πŸ˜†

Anyways... am not predicting, many people have already done that... but going only with the story so far.  Hopefully we will see a Shravan redemption track soon.

Tall task to chat with my toddler around... but will try sometime πŸ˜†
