Well Guys,
Chandragupta Maurya was born to a common family & grewup in between commoners, so he knew well the problems faced by a common man in daily life, which helped him to become a great ruller when he became Emperor Chandragupta at behest of Chanakya.

Even Ashok the same way, born & spent early childhood within common people. So when destiny united him with his father & when he got a chance he tried to solve the problem of common people & he could understand them.

But for Bindusar when he was born his father was Emperor of Magadh Empire. He was brought up in between protected walls of Palace inside Patliputra & rarely came in contact with common people. But his father & mother took care that he was aware of his responsibility that helped him at least maintain the Empire as it is until Ashok took over.

As for Sushim same like Bindusar, but Sushim's mother made him a spoilt brat.

CAS Ashok is portrayed as a commoner. But the real Emperor Ashok was born in a palace and brought up much the same way as Sushim.Perhaps not as much indulged and a little ignored since Sushim was definitely Daddy's darling.

Yes, he grew up in the palace but was apparently ignored by his father, at least that's what I heard
