10^th Shot

Two hours had passed but still Ragahv was there outside of the airport, sitting on a bench, all alone. Hearing the sound of a plane's engine he looked up to the sky. A tear escaped from his eyes as the plane flew over. I wish you could have changed your mind Kalpana, he said in his mind. He couldn't stay there anymore. He walked toward his car and then drove off to the office.

In the office

Ragahv was leaning on his chair with his closed eyes since one hour. Realizing he had a meeting in an hour, he opened his eyes. He looked at a file laying on his table. He was about to take that file to review, his eyes fell on a magazine where his and Kalpana's picture was on the cover page. He took the magazine in his hand. He caressed his fingers on her picture. "I wish, I could stop you from leaving," he whispered to himself. Though once they were good friends, then became husband and wife but in some point he couldn't force her for anything. He couldn't go against her mind. He respects her decision as much as he respects her. He was so lost in her thought that he couldn't realize when Shatish came and calling him by his name. His trace broke when; he felt someone's hand on his shoulder. Ragahv looked up.

Shatish: Ragahv, are you okay?

Ragahv nodded and said, "Hm."

Shatish: lets go we have a meeting now.

Saying so he was about to go but stopped when Ragahv said,

Ragahv: Shatish, can you please attend the meeting alone?

Shatish could feel something was bothering Ragahv as it was clearly visible in his eyes. Placing his hand on Raghav's shoulder,

Shatish: sure.

Once Shatish left, Ragahv made a phone call to dadi.

Dadi: how is everything beta.

Ragahv: dadi, Kalpana just left for India. Please send someone to pick her up from the airport on time.

Daid: India all of a sudden?

Ragahv: she was missing you dadi.

Dadi: what about her college?

Ragahv: She still has two more months.

Dadi: Why didn't you come with her?

To avoid her question,

Ragahv: Dadi, I will talk to you later. I have to attend a meeting now. You take care of yourself and Kalpana.

Once he cut the call, one of his office staffs entered into the cabin and said,

Peter: hey Ragahv, I was going to lunch, and I thought to ask you if you would like to join me.

Hearing him, Ragahv remembered Kalpana when she would remind him every day he ate lunch on time or not.

Ragahv: You go. I will do my lunch later. Thank you.

Ragahv came out from the office early as he couldn't concentrate on his work properly. He went to the globe where ragna been there several times. Sitting on a bench, he recalled his moments with Kalpana, her confession to him against her marriage, her likes, dislikes about her would be husband, their first hug after the party. He was so lost in his thought that he didn't realize when it became dark.

At home

He tried to eat something as he didn't eat since morning. He went to the kitchen and decided to make noodles for himself. While boiling water, he remembered his moments with Kalpana, how they would help each other while cooking. While thinking about her, unknowingly he put his finger into the boiling water. "Ouch." Looking at his burning finger, again he got lost in her thought, how she took care of him when he burned his finger before. He came out of the kitchen as he didn't feel like eating.

He laid on his bed. Closing his eyes he tried to sleep. All of a sudden he felt someone's lips on his cheek. He opened his eyes quickly. He looked around. No one was there. Closing his eyes he whispered to himself, "I am missing you badly Kalpana. I wish you would be here with me now. I would hold you in my arms tightly and never would let you go."

In India

Once Kalpana reached India, dadi noticed some change in her. She would spend most of the time in her room or on the terrace sitting all alone quiet. Dadi decided to talk to her. She went to Kalpana's room. Once she entered into Kalpana's room, she saw her laying on her bed with her close eyes, placing her one hand on her forehead and the other one on her stomach. Dadi walked toward her bed and noticed that Kalpana was holding a picture on her stomach. Dadi took it in her hand and saw it was Ragahv's picture. Caressing her hair, dadi called her softly, "Kalpana." Kalpana opened her eyes. Dadi looked at her eyes. Her eyes were red due to her nonstop crying.

Dadi: why is your eyes red Kalpana?

Kalpana: Vo, dadi, actually, I couldn't sleep last night.

Dadi: what were you doing with Ragahv's picture? Were you missing him?

Kalpana didn't say anything but just lowered her eyes.

Dadi: Is everything all right Kalpana?

Kalpana: What do you mean dadi?

Dadi: I meant to say is everything all right in between you and Ragahv?

Kalpana hugged dadi and said, "Yes everything is fine."

Dadi: but I noticed you were very quiet since you came back.

Kalpana: everything is fine dadi.

Dadi: Achcha tell me did Ragahv take care of you well?

Kalpana: Hm

Dadi: did he give you enough time?

Kalpana: hm

Dadi: did he take you out?

Kalpana: Hm

Dadi: did he help you in cooking and cleaning?

Kalpana: Hm.

Breaking the hug, dadi said,

Dadi: then what lacks in him so you came here leaving him there alone?

Looking into her eyes, dadi he is a perfect husband and I know no one is 100% perfect in life, but I didn't want him to be perfect like this. I just wanted him to be only mine, Kalpana said in her mind sad. Her trance broke when dadi called her, "Kalpana." Kalpana hugged dadi and said, "Dadi I was missing you that's why I have come here." But dadi was not convinced. She decided to talk to Ragahv.

Once dadi entered into her room, her phone buzzed. It was Ragahv.

Dadi: Ragahv, I was about to call ...

Ragahv interrupted her saying,

Ragahv: Dadi can you please pass the phone to Kalpana?

Dadi: Ok

Saying so she went to Kalpana's room but she wasn't there. Hearing the sound coming from the bathroom,

Dadi: Ragahv, she is taking shower. Call her later.

Ragahv: Ok dadi. I will call her later

Saying so he cut the call before dadi could ask him anything.

After one hour Ragahv called again and once dadi went to Kalpana's room, she saw her getting ready. Puting Ragahv on hold, dadi asked,

Dadi: Kalpana where are you going?

Kalpana: I am going to college.

Hearing this Ragahv said in his mind, why is she going to college? He heard dadi saying,

Dadi: Ragahv wants to talk to you.

Kalpana: dadi I am getting late. I will talk to him later.

Saying so Kalpana left from there.

Ragahv: Dadi, why is she going to college?

Dadi: Oh, I forgot to ask her.

Ragahv cut the call. Is she planning to stay there in India? He thought.

Ragahv was so disturbed as he tried very hard to talk to Kalpana but he couldn't. Whenever he would call her either she was sleeping or taking shower or was outside. He couldn't even concentrate on his work since she left. One day after the meeting he signed a deal with a client without looking at the clause. If Shatish wouldn't make him realize what he did, he would lose lot of money.

Flashback start

During the meeting, Ragahv got lost when the client was adding those clauses in the deal. After the meeting client asked,

The client: So Mr. Singhania, would you like to deal with us with those conditions?

Ragahv nodded and said yes. Saying so without wasting a second, he signed the deal. Seeing this Shatish and other office staffs were shocked. Shatish excused themselves for few minutes to the client and came out of the room taking Ragahv with him.

Shatish: Raghv how could you agree with the client with his conditions?

Ragahv: Why, what is wrong with it?

Shatish: Did you even hear those conditions?

Ragahv: What conditions?

Shatish opened the file and told him to read.

Putting his fingers into his hair Ragahv mumbled to himself frustrated,

Raghav: How could I agree with the client?

Shatish: I was also about to ask you the same.

Placing a hand on Ragahv's shoulder, he said,

Shatish: Ragahv, is there anything that is bothering you a lot?

Seeing Ragahv looking into his eyes,

Shatish: I been noticing you since one week that you are lost somewhere. You are not concentrating.

Ragahv nodded and then left from there. (Flashback end)

While driving back home, Ragahv mumbled to himself, "Kalpana, look what you did to me? Without you my life is blank. If you want me to stay alive you have to come back to me." All of a sudden his phone buzzed. He looked at the screen and saw Katelyn. He didn't pick up the phone and just threw it on the other seat.

At home

Sitting on chair, Ragahv leaned his head on the back with his closed eyes by the poolside. He opened his eyes hearing,

Katelyn: so you are here.

Ragahv: hey Katelyn, hey Robert.

Robert: What's up Raghav?

Katelyn: why did you switch your phone off? Do you know how many times I called you? When you didn't pick up the phone we came here to meet you.

Ragahv: Come lets go inside.

Katelyn and Robert sat side by side on a couch while Raghav in the opposite one.

Ragahv: So what brings you here?

Katelyn: Ragahv, I and Robert decided to marry next month.

Ragahv: congratulations to you both.

Katelyn: thanks but you and Kalpana have to organize this wedding party. By the way where is Kalpana? Call her. I would like to talk to her.

Ragahv: she is not here. She is in India now.

Katelyn: India? All of a sudden?

After thinking something,

Kate: I see. That's why you were sad and were not in a mood to talk to anyone.

After a little pause,

Kate: you know what Robert, when I went to help him to choose something for his wife, he told me to choose the best one for the most beautiful and special person in his life. At that time I realized how much he loves Kalpana.

Robert: yes, that's why he didn't allow anyone else into his life.

Hearing her Ragahv smiled. Before Kate and Robert left they made Ragahv promise that he and Kalpana will organize their party.

In India

Kalpana was in her room talking to her friend Purvi over the phone. All of a sudden she heard the land phone was ringing. She put Purvi on hold and went to the living room. she looked around but no one was there. "Hope this is not Ragahv's call," mumbling to herself Kalpana picked up the phone.

Kalpana: Hello!

Person: Hi may I speak to Kalpana?

Kalpana: yes speaking.

Person: hi, this is Doctor Shethi. I am calling from XYZ hospital. One of your family members had been getting treatment here in this hospital since three months.

Kalpana was shocked. "Prem?" the only word came out from her mouth.

Doctor: yes, it is Prem. He was in coma till yesterday. Once he opened his eyes, he kept calling your name.

Kalpana: doctor, please tell him that we are coming.

She cut the call and ran toward dadi's room. Seeing Kalpana rushing toward her,

Dadi: Kalpana what happened?

Kalpana: Dadi, Prem

Dadi: Prem?

Kalpana: yes he is in the hospital.

In the hospital

Once Kalpana and dadi entered into the cabin, their eyes fell on a lifeless body laying on a bed. Seeing this, dadi's heart skipped while a tear escaped from Kalpana's eyes. Dadi sat next to him on the bed. Caressing his cheek, she called him by his name softly, "Prem." Hearing his name, Prem slowly opened his eyes. A smile appeared on his face seeing dadi and Kalpana.

Dadi: How are you mere bachchi?

Prem: I am still weak dadi. How are you all?

Dadi: We are fine. I missed you a lot.

Seeing kalpana standing near his bed,

Prem: Kalpana, sit here.

Kalpana nodded and sat beside him on the bed. Prem held Kalpana's hand and said,

Prem: I am sorry Kalpana. Because of me you may have suffered a lot. Actually, I was going to home but on the way, I felt my car brake was not working and then somehow I found myself in the water. I heard that someone found me near a river unconscious then he admitted me in the hospital.

Placing her hand on his, Kalpana said,

Kalpana: Don't say sorry. I didn't Prem but you went through a lot.

Dadi: But Prem, who sent that letter to me that you don't want to marry Kalpana.

Prem: Letter?

Dadi: yes.

Prem: I don't know dadi.

Kalpana: how did that person know that you are not coming?

Prem: it means it was not an accident. Someone was involved with this accident. Someone was trying to kill me.

Dadi: I need to discuss about it with Ragahv.

Hearing about Ragahv, Prem said,

Prem: How is Bhai?

To avoid this question, Kalpana excused herself saying, "Let me talk to the doctor. I will be back."

Kalpana went to meet the doctor who did Prem's treatment. Kalpana wanted to know how Prem's condition was. If he was ok then could they take him home?

The doctor: Though his condition was not that good, but still you can take him to home but make sure do not give him too much stress. Remember a coma patient is very sensitive. Take care of his health.

Hearing him something clicked into her mind.

Kalpana: you are a doctor and before taking any step I thought to ask you.

Doctor: sure.

Kalpana: doctor you said coma patient is very sensitive and try not to give any stress. Actually, the day he met with an accident I and Prem were about to get married. When he didn't show up, his elder brother got married to me. And this is still unaware for Prem.

Doctor. I understood what you meant to say. Don't disclose about your marriage with his brother to Prem. He may not take it so easily. You all will be in the same house. So be careful.

Hearing him Kalpana nodded and left from there. After doing all the formalities, Kalpana and dadi took Prem with them at home.

At home

Once they reached home, Kalpana told Prem to freshen up in the meantime she will make soup for him. Prem nodded and then went to his room. While making soup Kalpana told everything what the doctor said to dadi. Hearing her dadi was so tensed as how long they will be able to hide this news to Prem. Dadi took Kalpana's hand in her and said,

Dadi: though it will be very difficult for you but you have to do it Kalpana.

Looking at her pleading eyes, Kalpana placed her other hand on dadi's and said,

Kalpana: Before I became Ragahv's wife, I was one of the family members of this family and I have some responsibilities for this family dadi. I won't let anything happen with Prem.

Hearing her dadi was amused. She placed a soft kiss on her forehead and said,

Dadi: I know beta. I have full confidence in you.

Then dadi thought to talk to Ragahv. She dialed his number but his phone was switched off. She thought to try him later. After making soup, Kalpana went to Prem's room with his soup. Seeing him coming from the bathroom,

Kalpana: Prem finish this soup. I will be back with your medicine.

Saying so she turned to leave when Prem said,

Prem: Thank you Kalpana.

Kalpana nodded with a smile and then left from there. After few minutes she came back with his medicine and told him to take some rest.

After three long hours of sleep Prem woke up. He came out of his room. He looked around but no one was there. Then he decided to go to the terrace. Seeing Kalpana sitting on the swing alone, a smile appeared on his face. He walked toward her. Kalpana looked up when she heard Prem saying,

Prem: you are here and I was searching for you everywhere.

Kalpana smiled and said,

Kalpana: How are you feeling now?

Prem: I am feeling good.

Saying so he sat beside her on the swing.

PRem: Kalpana thank you.

Kalpana: For what?

Prem: For taking care of me.

Kalpana: hey don't be so formal. We were friends once.

Prem: So, how is everything Kalpana?

Kalpana: everything is fine.

Prem: When I didn't show up were you upset?

Kalpana: No, but dadi was so upset.

PRem: you were not upset. Hm, it means you were happy that you didn't have to marry me.

Seeing Kalpana looked at him, Prem started laughing

Prem: Kalpana, I was just kidding.

After a little pause, he looked straight into Kalpana's eyes and said,

Prem: Kalpana, do you know how much of a nice person you are? No one can deny marrying you. I am such the luckiest person in the world to have you in my life.

Taking her hands in him, he continued, "Just give me some time. I will fix everything." Kalpana was just listening to him without uttering a word. She was surprised. After his accident he changed a lot. She thought.

On the other hand hearing a knock on the door, dadi walked toward the door. Once she opened the door, a smile appeared on her face. "Aww I am so glad to have my all children with me now," saying so dadi hugged Ragahv. Breaking the hug, Ragahv touched her feet.

Ragahv: how are you dadi.

Dadi: I am fine beta. But tell me all of a sudden you are here?

Dadi noticed him looking here and there

Ragahv: Dadi, where is Kalpana?

Dadi: She is on the terrace.

Dropping his luggage off on the floor, Ragahv turned to leave when dadi stopped him saying,

Dadi: Ragahv, Prem came back.

Hearing her Ragahv turned his head to face her. He was just looking at dadi without blinking his eyes. After few seconds, hearing, "Bhai," from his back Ragahv turned his head back. He saw Prem was standing on the stair. Then his eyes fell on Kalpana who was standing behind Prem. Again his eyes moved to Prem when he called him again, "Bhai." Prem smiled and walked toward Ragahv and hugged him.

Who tried to get rid of Prem but I m glad because of that into Kalpi's life rags came 😳 but oh no ho Gaya Raghav ko Shock kahin prem na udha le jaye uss kalpi he better act fast the clock is going tick tick. 😉 will Raghav get to talk to kalpi, will she listen to him, I can't wait for the next update bahut impatient hoon update ke bin 😉 😆
