Life OK, India's popular Hindi general entertainment Channel presents an unconventional and timeless love story with its new show 'Ek Tha Chandar Ek Thi Sudha'.

The show launching on 21st September 2015, is based on the iconic novel, 'Gunahon Ka Devta' written by Dharamvir Bharati. The legendary author who was awarded the Padma Shri in 1972 is also known for his creations like Suraj ka Satvan Ghoda and Andha Yug. 'Gunahon Ka Devta' was published in 1949 and 71 editions of the book have been published so far.

READ: Rahil Azam is back on TV

The novel was written at a time when Indians were moving from colonialism to independence but were still engulfed by regressive norms within the country. 'Gunahon Ka Devta' was path breaking as it was the first Hindi novel that honestly talked about tabooed subjects like sexuality, caste and religious discrimination. The book boldly questioned the place of sex in ideal love, an untouched and controversial topic that resonated deeply with the youth of that time. The book written way ahead of its time inspired an entire generation of writers and movie makers to court the conflict between physical and platonic love more openly. In the last 65 years, multiple film makers have tried to adapt the story, but have found it extremely difficult to portray the complex set of relationships on screen. The only known adaption today is a movie with Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri and Rekha in the lead roles, but the film was never released.

Set in the backdrop of Allahabad, it is the story of the young, fervent and mischievous Sudha and the gifted researcher Chandar who is a protege of her father. The bond that Chandar and Sudha share is that of two good-humoured, inseparable friends, and neither understands that their relationship may have a name. It is only when Chandar is asked to convince Sudha to get married to a man of her father's choice, that it is apparent how the two pine for each other. The story questions the boundaries defined by our society and redefines the very idea of love. The love between Chandar and Sudha transcends the realms of physical proximities. It's a tale of unadulterated, self-sacrificing and overwhelming romance that is as relevant today as it was six decades ago.

Watch Chandar played by Rahil Azzam and Sudha, essayed by Umang Jain; as they redefine love in an adaption of this book through the upcoming show 'Ek Tha Chandar Ek Thi Sudha' starting 21st September every Monday to Friday at 7 pm only on Life OK.

We also asked Rahil why he keeps disappearing from TV, and he said, "TV is 90% a women-dominated medium. Male actors get to work in only 10% of the remaining space and there's only 2% of creative space left in that, which I work in. I am not a machine and I cannot do run-of-the-mill stuff. I keep getting offers but I don't take them. I am a software engineer by profession and I have my family business in Bangalore, so I keep myself busy with that," he added.

LOL@bold.  I am gonna check out coz of him and him only. Trusting him on what he says, at least for the initial month...and hoping for the best.

Zee TV is taking viewers back in time with an epic periodic love story, Lajwanti. After the huge success of Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani, the channel is now coming up with this exciting show, which will have a periodic setup that revolves around India and Pakistan's partition.

Tellychakkar got in touch with the lead of the show, Sid Makkar, who was earlier part of Epic's Dariba Diaries.

Talking about his role, Sid shared, "My character Sundarlal is from Lahore. He is fiery-tempered and the story is based in 1947 where he falls in love amid the chaos of partition."

What was your reaction when you got to know that Ankita Sharma was your partner? "I was cast before Ankita and I auditioned with a couple of girls. But I think Ankita is the best. There is some rawness in her face, which is very rare to find. I have to admit that she shocked us all with her amazing performance," she said.

Give us five reasons why viewers should watch this show... "Chemistry, rawness, progressive periodic drama, unique love story and a very well written story," he added with a smile.

What made you to choose this show? "Frankly speaking, I gave a very bad audition deliberately as I wasn't interested in doing TV. Later Ila (producer) asked me to give a second audition, which was pretty good. It was Ila's conviction that got me in the show," he said.

Lastly, any message for your fans? "Well, I would say that do watch our show to experience a different kind of love story," he signed off.

He right about Ankita having a rawness in her face, but I don't know if she fit the role. I'll have to watch to see, cause Ankita doesn't do well in romantic roles but let's see. I just don't know but check out her pic below 😆😆😆

You scared me, dude.
I was like, wait whaaat? It's Ankita Sharma..  Nooo

No, it's apparently a newbie (also named Ankita Sharma).

The promo doesn't do justice to Sid Makkar's beautiful face. Bu you can clearly see that's not the Ankita Sharma you're thinking of...
