"Yet each man kills the thing he loves,
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!
Some kill their love when they are young,
And some when they are old;
Some strangle with the hands of Lust,
Some with the hands of Gold:
The kindest use a knife, because
The dead so soon grow cold.
Some love too little, some too long,
Some sell, and others buy;
Some do the deed with many tears,
And some without a sigh:
For each man kills the thing he loves,
Yet each man does not die."
--Oscar Wilde (The Ballad of Reading Gaol)
This is from a very old, veryyy long poem, and a few lines from it kept echoing in my head when I saw the promo where Yuvraj insults Suhani.
The relevant lines are, ". . . each man kills the thing he loves. . .some do it with a bitter look/ Some with a flattering word.. . .Yet each man does not die."
Yuvraj does it with a bitter look AND bitter words. Rohan is no better, because he causes the bitterness, and for all his "flattering word"s, he is part of the 'killing'.
Yuvraj will (I hope) suffer for it, but what about Rohan? He will be indignant on Suhani's behalf, but he won't suffer, not even from her pain. Whatever his motives, good or bad, this was wrong, unnecessary, and unjustied.
Be mad at Yuvraj, he deserves it, because he's a thoughtless, ill-mannered moron, but he is (supposedly) acting out of love, however hidden. Isn't this what was needed? And if you're thinking oh why now, he was just beginning to Realize--if you know the cvs, you'll see that he's beginning to realize BECAUSE this was coming. Nothing in SSEL goes right for long.
So stop getting too agitated, just let's hope they don't do their usual disaster again.
