Muralidhar is a paradox. He thinks he loves Neha but it looks like infatuation to me. Infatuation happens in teen years not in adulthood. Who is responsible for him turning out to be a repressed man? Dadaji, who didn't have any flexibility or his parents who couldn't see the adverse effects on their son?

He is simply immature and incapable of having an individual state of mind. He might be older to LD in age as number, but is right at jhanvi level when it comes to his brain age. Like you stated, he's showing signs of retaliation one would see in teenagers. LD seemed way mature than him even in the initial college episodes.

Oh and to answer your question, it's probably a combination of dadaji's suppression of his freedom and his parents' lack of giving him fodder for his individual growth, even if that meant standing up against dadaji. Can't always blame his mother... His father should be held more accountable than just his mother alone.

He keeps blaming the mother probably because she fought with Dadaji to get LD educated outside Mathura. Muralidhar feels that she did not do the same for him. Neither Muralidhar nor Leeladhar seem to have any relationship with their father.

And he can't spend the rest of his life complaining. We all had some short comes on our upbringings but trying to make the most out of our lifes.
