In a far away heavenly kingdom, there resided a girl named Punjikasthala, who was Brihaspati's attendant. One day, a saint named Angira came to visit Indra, the king of heaven, and was welcomed by a dance presented by Punjikasthala. The saint was not familiar with that type of dance and did not appreciate it. Offended, Punjikasthala insulted him and thus he cursed her to be born on Earth as a female monkey. However, when she pleaded her forgiveness, the saint blessed her that the curse could only be removed if she gives birth to a son. who is believed be an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
She took birth on Earth as Anjana, the daughter of the king of moneys, Kuniar and later married Kapiraj Kesari of Mount Sumeru. Many years later, she give birth toHanuman on the 14th day of Chaitra in a cave on the Rushyamuk mountain. With the help of the five divine factors: such as a curse and a blessing from the Saint Angira; the blessing of the God of wind, Vayu, who graced her with a son; her prayer and blessing of Lord Shiva, who agree to incarnate in her womb as her son; and Putreshti Yagna's fruit.
Upon the birth of Hanuman, she was freed from the curse and was able to return back to heaven.
Hanuman Jayanti celebration is very important to all; however, brahmacharis, body-builders and wrestlers are especially inclined towards this celebration. His devotees also have many names for him such as like Bajrangabali, Pavanasuta, Pavankumar, Mahavira, Balibima, Marutsuta, Anjanisut, Sankat Mochan, Anjaneya, Maruti, Rudra and many more.
Hanuman is consider as the 11th avatar of Lord Shiva due to his great devotion, knowledge, strength, divine power, intelligence, bravery, and his spirit for selfless service. His life was devoted for his Lord Rama and Mata Sita.
Lord Hanuman devotees always pray to him to be blessed with knowledge, strength and courage. He is worshipped in many ways; some devotees meditate while others read Hanuman Chalisa.
