Sorry this isn't proofread or coherent, I just loved the episode so thought of writing something and now I have errands to run so don't have time to make this a good read. Apologies in advance.
Chronicles of a love foretold
I blatantly stole from the genius of Gabriel Garcia Marquez whilst choosing a title for this very short and incoherent post. Mr. Marquez wrote a classic novel called, Chronicles of a death foretold' dealing with a lot of dark issues facing our society. This post is not going to be some literally classic even though the title is borrowed from one, this post is just going to narrate the chronicles of Ishita-Raman's love, and their story being foretold. Foretold, is the past participle of foretell meaning predict or tell beforehand.
And this beautiful story and today's tender and subtle episode reminded me of the ever popular ghazal called Aaj jaane ki zidd na karo.
Aaj jaane ki zid na karo
Yunhi pehloo mein baithe raho
Aaj jaane ki zid na karo
Hai mar jaayenge, hum to lut jaayenge
Aisi baatein kiya na karo
Today, do not insist on walking away
As you are, sit by my side
Just the way you are, sit by me
Today, do not insist on walking away
Oh! I will cease to be, I will be robbed,
Do not say such words.
Today, do not insist on walking away
Today, do not insist on walking away
What can love do to one's senses and sense of being. Ishita and Raman so totally in love but hesitant, struggling with their feelings, scared of these new feelings, their hearts doing somersaults trying to find that courage to voice their feelings. These feelings that are making them impossible to function as a human, she stands in a room lost in his thoughts, he sits in his office lost in hers. With all the angst and trepidations that these two souls are going through, there is also a beauty in this time of angst where one tries to muster up the courage to profess their love. Ishita sitting in that room going through myriad's of emotions not able to contain her happiness at the sight of love in her life, she wishes time would go slow and this moment would freeze. Aaj jaane ki zid na karo to this moment, hope this moment sits close to Ishra so both can savor the beauty of love a little longer. If this moment passes by any faster, the will cease to exist and their love will be robbed of the beauty of this lingering moment.
Waqt ki qaid mein zindagi hai magar
Chand ghadiyan yehi hain jo aazad hain
Inko khokar mere jaan-e-jaan
Umr bhar na taraste raho
Aaj jaane ki zid na
In the prison of time sits life, trapped, and yet
These few remaining moments are the only ones liberated
In the prison of time sits life, trapped, and yet
These few remaining moments are the only ones liberated
After losing them, my life of life, do not eternally pine for them.
Ishita and Raman both are caged in the prison of time, where everyday life beckons their attention. They are parents, they are siblings, they are children to their parents, and they are bosses to their employees. In all these roles they are lost to each other but today when they both insist to savor this lingering moment of love and realization, they want to break the barriers of time and steal these moments for themselves. So Ishita forgets being a mother momentarily to be in the moment of love with Raman, her sole attention, time, thoughts and her soul for those two minutes belonged to Raman. Raman forgets to be a father momentarily as he focuses on Ishita in that picture, his sole attention, time, thoughts and his soul for those two minutes belonged to Ishita. What lyrical beauty by these two in abandonment of their daughter, they steal a moment of togetherness.
Kitna maasoom rangeen hai yeh sama
Husn aur ishq ki aaj mein raaj hai
Kal ki kisko khabar jaan-e-jaan
Rok lo aaj ki raat ko
Aaj jaane ki zid na karo
Yunhi pehloo mein baithe raho
Aaj jaane ki zid na karo
What an innocent hueful meeting this is
of beauty and love, they rule today.
Who knows what lies in tomorrow,
Let's make this night stand still.
Don't insist on leaving today,
keep sitting beside me.
Don't insist on leaving today
What a mesmerizing sight it was to witness a woman in love lost in the passion of her beloved deciding to confess her love, to take the step and to put an end to this game of trepidations. There was innocence, love, purity, a sense of belonging in that moment. Ishita for a first time felt she had a purpose in this life, she felt like a complete woman, a woman that a man desires, a woman that a man needs to make his, a woman that man wants to serenade. This moment, this feeling so pious full of love and passion is here to cradle Raman and Ishita in the slumber of dreams and togetherness, both hoping for this moment to linger on a little longer. If they could halt time, and tame this stubborn time not to pass by faster so they can sit next to each other in beautiful serenity of their feelings, to give their hearts a chance to soak in the love, to give their minds an opportunity to make memories. If only they could say to the fleeing moment, aaj jaane ki zid na karo'
Today for the 1st time we witnessed these two lost lovers savoring their present, this moment of love and their togetherness, not worrying about the past or the impending future. We knew that his couple with all it's flaws and imperfections were headed towards each other with force unfathomable to the ones not in love. We could foretell the chronicles of this beautiful love story; it was the matter in which this chronicle is unfolding that makes our heartbeat skip and lose our senses.
