Not defending her but what Raman did is not romantic nor shows the mature behavior of a husband.

Any sensible married woman would know what Raman's intention was. Romi, Vandu knew it and even Mani sensed it in the end. But Ishita remained oblivious. Raman never made fun of her birthname Mathangi openly, never ridiculed her about her horrible pasta in front of others. Ishita wasn't like this either but since the introduction of Mani she's behaving out of her character in the name of having fun.
