Ashok was never in love with Shagun. He had always lusted Shagun, he fell for Shagun's beauty, but not for Shagun as a person. He had the habit of getting whatever he desires and Shagun was out of his reach as she was married and had two kids. So Ashok who loved challenges took it upon him to get this banned fruit.
It did not take long to taste this fruit as it was easily pleasable with expensive gifts. Ashok had it to his full and wanted to discard it but by then, the actual owner of this fruit which was Raman came to know about it. He got angry and pleaded him to spare his house but that made this game more exciting for Ashok and he encouraged Shagun to leave her home and come to him by luring her with his riches.
Shagun who was greedy did just that. She loved the attention which she got from both men and berating Raman and never noticed that Ashok had never loved her, he kept her only to insult Raman as Raman's constant try to win her back from him and defeating Raman at every stage gave his ego a boost and Shagun's beauty appealed him more. It made him feel like a king who was enjoying a fruit which the owner of the fruit himself was devoid of.
This game made him keep Shagun with him for 6 long years otherwise he would have dumped her long back and now when Raman has lost all his interest in her and has moved on in his life, there is nothing appealing in Shagun to keep him in a trance - she is dumb, egoist, doesn't work, no family, no rich business, has a son as an add on baggage - she is just a liability to him and on top of it the girl had the audacity to show him attitude during Accident case and sidelined him, this hurt his ego terribly and he decided to teach her a lesson before he let's her go from his life.
