JA episodes are like oysters with pearls hidden inside. These pearls are available to those treasure hunters who can discover them through tenacity and persistence. πŸ˜Š

Abhay illustrated one such pearl (the shloka Jodha recited at Atga's death) in an earlier thread:

HE Questioned "HIS Shadow" BUT Answer Came from SOUL [ https://india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=4147635]

- now closed.

There have been many such instances in the past when JJ have sought comfort and solace in their / the other's faith. For instance, Jalal lit the diya for Kanha when Jodha was battling the spread of poison through her body.

(Side Note: Feel free to share nuggets you may have discovered in JA till date. πŸ˜Š)

Yesterday's episode had one such special moment. Jodha chose the Prophet Muhammad's grandsons' names for her to-be born babies. This was a heart-warming moment because Jalal was just then telling Ruq that one of the babies must have a Rajput name. It was so enthralling to watch JJ cherish each other's culture and ethos in such a beautiful manner.

Why these names only? Has anyone thought about this?

The names, Hasan and Hussein, are sometimes bestowed on twins. Both names mean beautiful. Hasan and Hussein were destined to be martyrs from the beginning. The Prophet was therefore both sad and happy at their birth and took their care upon himself and tried to protect them from evil. Their mother, Fatima, was a deeply knowledgeable and chaste lady.

If we compare this with JJ's situation, then, the twins were destined to sacrifice their lives for their father. Their mother, Jodha, was also a knowledgeable and chaste lady.

It may be possible that Jodha consciously chose these names for the babies, as a loving gesture of her acceptance of Jalal's faith. It may also be that the thought (of the names) was implanted in her subconscious by a Universal Force.

It is a belief in some communities that the destinies of a parent and child are sometimes linked together, esp their lifetimes. There is a popular story of how Babur laid down his life to save Humayun. May be the twins took on the danger that was to befall on Jalal upon themselves and died in his stead.

Jalal was mesmerized by Jodha's ability to rise above the mundane and think of evocative things. To him, at that point in time, Allah and his Prophet were of prime significance. When Jodha chose names that were so close to the God he prayed to, he was stunned. By selecting these names, Jodha was declaring her commitment to him and his beliefs in strong terms. Just as Jalal wanted to commit himself to her and her faith by choosing a name from her community for their child.

This is where JJ's love shines through. For a magical moment, I was taken to the world of Della and Jim in Saki's The Gift of the Magi. JJ truly live for each other and cherish anything that is attached to the other in any manner. How beautifully this was shown last night!

Side Note:

Though Ruq was also present there, she was as good as being invisible to them, lost as

they were in their own Blissful Soul World. Try as she might, Ruq may take away their

children, power, and titles, but she can never enter their private world. There, she will

always be a stranger, an Outsider peeping in and longing to enter like a vagabond

looking longingly into a warm, cosy home on a winter's eve, knowing he can never

actually do so. Ruq may acquire the Importance of being the Mother of the Heir

Apparent. But the price she would pay for this would be the love, respect, and

friendship of her husband. Jalal may seemingly be friendly and normal with her. But

does he seek her company, or her counsel, or attach any importance to her? No.

Radhika,

Fantastic Post..You nailed the essence..πŸ‘

Note:
My comments are written wrt the Serial .

When in yesterday's Episode, Jodha mentioned the names of Hasan and Hussain..It was a symbolic yet poignant moment.

First of all, the angle from which the shot was taken was very beautiful. After some pathetic shots which we were witnessing since the last so many days... yesterday , that scene was very NICE.

And, you have very rightly said it they're destined to sacrifice their lives for their father...Because we know that those two unique pearls of the ocean of holiness will return to the ample domain of the other world, and flung down the lives for their father.

I am eagerly waiting for the arrival of these two Kids in the show..At least for some time, we will get relief from the negativity of the serial, and get a DOSE of POSITIVITY.. Before Jodha and Akbar, go in extremely pensive state, i want the Creatives to show minimum 2-3 episodes with complete happiness and celebrations...

You are also right in saying that , these names are given to Twins..There is one more example with me from Akbar's time..Will post about this on sticky / PM later..Your articulation of Jodha as a chaste lady is also quite fitting, as far as i know.

Before Jodha, Jalal had thought the names as Razia and Radha, in case he gets daughters.. Speaks Volumes about his know-how of her cult... They both are a match to each other..

The Creatives gave EQUAL marks to both the protagonists.. 😊

If there is one thing which the Creatives of Jodha Akbar are capable of doing, amidst their "sometimes" OTT NR,πŸ˜‰ then it is the Mutual Understanding of each other's culture and thus spreading out the Noble message..

BTW, On a sidenote, about Ruqayya, She is never shown to be on equal frequency with the thinking of Jalal..Perhaps, that's one of the reasons of giving so many responsibilities to Jodha , in future, but not to her. I will read the responses here, and keep adding my views later..

Both J-J have a lot to see and learn from each other along with the external agencies around them..Like, Jalal mentioned the Pandits, and Jodha had Salima Begum initially, and then even Rahim, to learn from...As Mevlana says -- "We can't help being thirsty moving towards the voice of water" .. The Show's Jodha Akbar are on similar lines..

Update: Sept 16 Episode

Disclaimer: This post is, as is usual for me, quite late in the day. Those who have had more than what they can take of last night's episode should refrain from reading further. πŸ˜›

Last night's episode touched my heart because of the way the Jalal-Jodha marriage has progressed, blending their different personalities, different attitudes, different world views, and different expectations into a harmonious melody.
The scene where Ruq whips Resham could have rapidly resulted in a major MU between JJ, leading to a hot exchange of views or a cold war. Ruq proclaimed to Jodha in just slightly hidden glee that Maham had once again succeeded in driving a wedge between them.

And I felt so too judging by the manner in which Jalal received the news of Jodha having invited Resham to her hojra for a nocturnal tryst  to inquire about the health of a dying Maham and walked away. He seemed then to be like a man who cannot believe his wife is hobnobbing with the enemy behind his back.

A stricken Jodha tiptoed to him and apologized gracefully. I was waiting with bated breath to see Jalal's reaction. And did he surprise me!!! He was so calm and woebegone as he asked her piteously why she constantly invited trouble and why he was forced to ask her time and again the reason why she had done something.

He understood she had a generous and kind heart that could not see anyone in trouble and leapt to their defence even before they asked for help or even if they refused her help. But he also had the responsibility to take care of her and the kids and he felt that she was endangering herself and the kids by exposing herself to an unpredictable Maham. He wanted her to understand his duty towards his wife and kids and mould her actions accordingly. But she told him that Maham was on the death bed and she couldn't leave her to die.

Jalal could have enforced his writ. But he chose to take an alternate path that would ensure that Maham stayed far away from Jodha and could no longer harm her.

Was Jodha not thinking about Jalal's POV? In fact, she was thinking exactly from his perspective, a perspective that had become clouded in him due to a maelstrom of emotions stirred by Maham.

This became amply clear when Ruq interrupted their private moment and announced grandly that Maham didn't deserve anyone's pity or love. The look Jalal gave her spoke volumes about how he felt about Maham and Ruq at that point. A lesser person would have identified the feeling embedded in that piercing look. But not Ruq.

It was that look that told me why Jalal was not upset with Jodha for meeting Maham. He was still attached by an invisible umbilical cord to her.

Yes, he was afraid of her desire to hurt Jodha and their babies. And felt that she might try to make the curse come true by taking suitable action. Resham's presence and the tunnel with SD and a dead soldier in it near Jodha's hojra at night seemed to him as if his worst nightmares were coming true.

Yet, he still winced to know that Maham was in the last days of her life. She had nurtured him during most of his life and had become a part of his being. He couldn't cut her away from his being even if he wanted to. Such is a child's innocent love for a mother-figure.

A part of Jalal wanted to reach out to Maham and alleviate her suffering. A part of him felt guilt-ridden for having snatched Adham away from her. A part of him held back from her, not for what she had done to him but for what she could do to his wife and kids. All these conflicting emotions of pain, anger, hurt, betrayal, love and attachment were gnawing at his heart like hungry rats. He was perhaps slightly comforted by the fact that at least Jodha was free of this dilemma and could personally take care of Maham.

Ruq seems oblivious of Jalal's agony regarding Maham's situation and takes veritable pleasure in rubbing in the heels of her jootis into his still open wounds.

The entire episode and esp this encounter underlines how close JJ have become, so much so that each understands what the other wants / needs, will do / can do and then takes affirmative action to support the other. It's not how long we know a person but how well we understand a person that is important in sustaining a relationship.

The level of trust and comfort between them in sharing their innermost thoughts and accepting each other, as is, is amazing. People like SD and Ruq can only see the external aspects of the JJ relationship; they cannot gauge its depth and intensity.

Sorry for the late posts akka, as I am busy with my projects and exam schedulesπŸ˜•
I will be just writing a small post regarding this😊

I just loved the potrayal of the scene. It was so beautiful and magnificient πŸ˜³

He who loves with purity considers not the gift of the lover, but the love of the giver.

I would just like to say our JJ's love is so DIVINE and PURE.I feel that Jodha has given a beautiful gift to Jalal by deciding THE NAMES of the twins, which are APT.

Minds are like flowers, they only open when the time is right.

Hence he applauded her SOCHπŸ‘

Regarding the TWINS birth, sacrifice and DEATH, here is what I feel---

"Death is like giving birth. Birth can be painful. Sometimes women die from giving birth. However, when the baby is born, all that pain (that was endured) vanishes in an instant. Love for that tiny baby makes one forget the pain, the fear. The love between mother and child is the highest experience, the closest to divine love.
You might wonder about the parallel I'm making between birth and death. But I say to you, the fear and pain accompanying an awful death is over quickly. Beyond that portal one is suddenly in the light, in oneness and bliss...Just as a woman heals rapidly after childbirth and then is able to fall in love with her baby, those who pass over also are able to fall in love with a new life."
----Kuan Yin

I am sure that JJ would find SOLACE in each other. They will grieve their children death, but would move ahead and everything will get right slowly in due course of time.😊

"A lot of things are inherent in life -change, birth, death, aging, illness, accidents, calamities, and losses of all kinds- but these events don't have to be the cause of ongoing suffering. Yes, these events cause grief and sadness, but grief and sadness pass, like everything else, and are replaced with other experiences.

Wonderful Radhika , I didn't know the story behind the names but guess what you learn something new every day from small things , like finding your own pearls . Their union was truly union of two religions , two culture and ultimately two soul , they became one in all sense . It is so endearing to see their small gestures also has deep meaning to it and the way they try to make each other happy not with expensive gifts or peals or diamond but by doing what touches the heart of other person , how can we forget about how jalal made coin which had khana on one side and holy writing on other as token of his love same goes to her crown . How can we forget his 1st birthday gift to her and hers to him .
Only song comes to my mind when I se these two
