Thanks a lot and Happy reading! 😳 Happy reading??!! Kahe ka happy reading Aarti? Seriously.. How can one be happy after reading THAT?? 😲
And Priya!! He said Priya!! He actually said that when he was with Nidhi??!! Oh How COULD he?? How DARE he!! Felt like I tell you!!
Phew..OK..now I have got that out of my chest...and I can move on to the review.
Nice Siggy. Suits the chapter to a T. 👍🏼
The first conversation between Nidhi and Sarla..really nice. Shows the comfort level she shares with her in-laws. And going by the conversation and how relaxed Nidhi is while talking, its almost a routine thing for them. MIL and DIL talking about son / hubby. really nice touch. So Nidhi remembered her FIL's wish that he said after her marriage. Good. Good.
And CV is planning a spl birthday gift to his wifey, huh!! Both kids married, his past actions have come to light, daughter has forgiven him.. I'm sure he feels lighter and wants to thank his wife for putting up with him and not giving up on him and their relationship. I'm sure Nidhi's dialogue of what if my mom had not been strong in the past is still playing through his mind.
And its May!! Time when he got married and also divorced the first time around.
"Where was that stench of duplicity from Priya? Where was that cold, empty bed that he used to sink his tired body into oblivion? Where were those taunts, those mocking words that he constantly used to hear all day long?
Poor guy!! Felt really bad for him. The scars indeed did run deep.
but to his surprise all he could recollect today was Nidhi's smiling face from a few minutes back. He carried her unique scent all day, her memory as her head made a dent on the pillow next to his, and his fists curled up automatically as if he was holding her small hands in his larger ones as they slept.
Love indeed does work wonders!! Really glad to see him smile despite the month and day. The hope in him that he is finally out of the shadows was a delight to read.
Skimming through it he found a wire transfer of Rs. 25,000 to Kanpur done a couple of weeks back.
I guess I spoke too soon!! All it took was one incident and he is back in his past!!
"What happened Ashutosh? Are you worried I will blow away all the money?"
"Why do you want to know? And is it not my money as well? Of course I don't earn as much as you but still..."
Sshhh...Nidhi!! I wanted to personally go and shut her mouth at this point. I could feel what was coming and just somehow wanted to stop it. And I think a part of her knew too. but she couldn't stop herself. It was like a part of her wanted to see where he would go with his own weird deductions.
And it was not like he didn't know he was crossing the line and mixing up people..super-imposing past on the present. A part of him knew it. Yet he couldn't stop. It was like he had gone to another place and another time. And yes, in that moment, he became Priya. He saw Priya's actions in Nidhi and became Priya. Whoa!! A roller coaster scene that one was.
"Speak when you are angry and you'll make the best speech that you'll ever regret." And thats exactly what has happened here. He didn't speak. He went right out and did what Priya used to do. Used s** as a weapon against his innocent wife and annihilated her in the process.
He bunched his fists and banged it hard on the wall near her head, "Damn it Priya! Damn it!" (Hope this is not a disclaimer emoticon!! 😆)
Nidhi's reaction soon after that brought tears into my eyes 😭
"Its... Nidhi! I am... Nidhi, not ... Not Priya!"
Awww..ro mat Nidhi!! Ro mat!! Yeh mard log bade zaalim hote hain...😡
"What have I done? Why did I commit this unpardonable crime? How can I become so angry with my Nidhi?
ab kya fayda?? He should've thought of that before blurting out all that nonsense!! Bhukto Ab!! You deserve the misery!!
And then I wondered how you would break the impasse. She is hurting, he is hurting as well. How do they come to a point where one talks and the other listens? But you have brought that out very well.
He truly hates himself and that reached her as none of his apology would. You know..this reminded me of Teri Ore. here, I'm seeing a PTSD of another kind. Priya has a lot of answer for. If she wounded him, what followed later on...the pshyc sessions, divorce hearing...For a man like this Ashutosh, they left an even bigger impact. Some might think 7 years is a long time to get over it. But there are always things one can never fully get over. All they need is a trigger and they come bouncing back with more speed than ever before.
True that Priya is no more in Ashutosh's life. And probably doesn't exist for him. But the hold she has on his psyche is still there. And until he breaks that hold, he can never be truly free to love Nidhi and give all of himself to her.
Loved the understanding Nidhi. She listened despite her pain and hurt and feeling of betrayed and later on set about soothing him. Truly marvelous girl this one. She has probably understood and forgiven him too. But I can't help but wonder...can she forget? Can HE forget??
A real turning point wala chapter this one and you have handled it fabulously Aarti. Seriously.
Take a small break before starting on the next one. You really need to come out of this one and unwind.
