Promo Analysis : "Parvati Rudra Pratap Ranawat; I Will Never Be Yours"

  • Analysis & Symbolism

"Mandap bhi yehi
Havan kund bhi yehi
Sath vachan vishwas ghath, ke aur aathva vachan mera...
Rudra Pratap Ranawat aaj yeh vachan deta hai ke woh tera kabhi nahi banega Paro"

So finally Paro baisa becomes "Parvati Rudra Pratap Ranawat"

OK...How many shocked viewers out there? Raise your hands please...Well do count us too because the latest on air promo of RangRasiya leaves you in complete shock because nobody saw this coming. First Paro proposes marriage to Rudra and now Rudra agrees to the proposal but with his own added twist.

The promo starts with Rudra and Paro standing before each other, face to face. Paro is in her wedding dress (The golden and maroon one) and Rudra in his usual avatar. There is a big traditional wooden mortar and pestle in between Rudra and Paro, out of which the pestle disappears in the next shot when Rudra takes an orange Dupatta that was hanging on a rope next to him, and puts it in the mortar which surprisingly catches fire on its own thus becoming the sacred fire witnessing their union. Paro looks on in disbelief and the scene changes to Rudra holding Paro's hand and circling (Phera's) the fire. Rudra takes a chutki (pinch) of sindoor fills it in Paro's maang (center-partition) and makes a promise to Paro that he will never become hers as she looks at him shocked.

What strikes about the promo is the background voice of Rudra, but look closely and the promo does have quite a few tidbits to offer.

Starting with the costumes, Paro is in her wedding dress while Rudra is in his usual clothes which goes on to indicate that even if this means nothing to Rudra, it is important to Paro. So we can say that, even the smallest thing related to Rudra has its own value and importance in Paro's life. If Rudra decides to get married to Paro, it wouldn't be because he wants to but because he has no choice. It could be because of pressure from his superiors after what happened at the Bravery Award Ceremony or because of societal pressures after Rudra went all public with the whole wedding preparations and ceremony earlier even if it was to scare Paro and get her signatures against Tejawat.

It's an orange dupatta that Rudra puts into the mortar which catches fire and acts like the "Havan Kund". Orange symbolizes joy, happiness, enthusiasm, determination, success, encouragement, strength, endurance etc. So Rudra's action of burning the dupatta can be symbolic of him burning these qualities; and in the PaRud relationship these qualities at present comes from Paro who is trying to make things work between the two, when Rudra clearly wants her out of his life. Paro's expressions scream shock and probably this will be the first time she will be seeing the actual depth, the gravity of Rudra's hatred towards beautiful women and so by default her. Having said that according to color psychology Orange stands for optimism, for rejuvenation and helps have a positive outlook on life and by now the one thing we know about Paro is she is a go-getter and so even if Rudra's tries to destruct it all with his hatred, Paro will find a way to counter attack it.

Just like Shivji and Parvatiji, we know that the PaRud story as of now is traversing the Gauri-Shiv phase, where Devi Parvati had to endure many things, but never stopped trying because she saw beyond all that and her ultimate goal was to make a place for herself in Shivji's heart. Here in the promo we see Paro is shocked, looks confused but that does not stop her from taking the pheras with Rudra. Even when Rudra tells her about the Vachans (Wedding vows) and fills her maang, Paro only expresses through her eyes what is going on inside her.

"7 vachans Vishwas Ghath ke aur aathva vachan mera" - Rudra is still stuck on the whole betrayal angle, but dekhna yeh hai ki if that is just an excuse to keep Paro away from him or if he still is clinging on to the whole she going with Tejawat after hitting him from behind and not to forget setting his father's room on fire story. And what is the aathva aka 8th vow? That he, Rudra Pratap Ranawat will never become Paro's. Since a large part of the story is inspired from the Shiv-Shakti story, we can very well ask the question "Can Shiv and Shakti exist without each other?' The answer is NO and like Paro made it clear earlier, they have a soul mate connection and no matter how hard Rudra is going to fight that truth, how long he is going to be in denial Paro will turn things around. It's not going to be an easy journey but like they say "Love will find a way".

Another interesting thing about the promo is the setting. Even after Rudra sets a duppata on fire we can see that throughout the promo both Rudra and Paro are surrounded by colorful dupattas, in every angle, every shot this is sustained which symbolizes of a colorful world for PaRud (Since it's all around them).

Though Paro said that she has lost her heart to Rudra, love is yet to take over her. Right now Rudra is her Rakshak somebody who she worships and respects, even the love she thinks she has for him arises from this feeling that that of pure love and passion. For her to fall truly in love with Rudra, he has to decent from the godly position Paro has placed him at and become a human. For that to happen Rudra should start to feel again and more than that accept his feelings. We have already witnessed that if there has been a change in Rudra's behavior towards Paro time and again, it is only because she has been able to crack his stone heart when no one else could and make it feel again.

The new promo indicates the next phase in the PaRud story. So now with Paro and Rudra embarking on a new journey we'd say "Stay tuned and keep watching the show to find out what happens in the lives of Rudra and Paro in Colors RangRasiya.

TFS. Nice article.

How much ever Rudra shouts of never going to be Paro's. We all know Paro is not someone to give up just because he said so.πŸ˜†

We all have a picture of how passionate and possessive Rudra can/will be once he acknowledges his love. But I wonder now, if Paro's devotion is this extreme then how will her love be???
