Biography
Deepika Padukone,born 5 January 1986 in Copenhagen, Denmark, is an Indian model & Actress. She is the daughter of former badminton Champion Prakash Padukone. Her mother tongue is Konkani. Deepika has a younger sister named Anisha.
Career
Deepika made modeling appearances in print and television advertising campaigns for Liril, Close-Up toothpaste and Limca, receiving many prestigious modeling offers, including brand ambassadorship of the Jewels of India, an annual jewelery exhibition. She hit the international scene when Maybelline made her their new international cover-girl face.
At the fifth annual Kingfisher Fashion Awards, for Indian models and designers, she was awarded the title of Model of the Year. Shortly after wards, she was chosen as one of the models for the Kingfisher Swimsuit Calendar for 2006, thus cementing her reputation as a supermodel. She also bagged two trophies at the Idea Zee F Awards in 2006 - female Model of the year (Commercial Assignments) and Fresh Face of the year.She became noticed by director Farah Khan and it was then that she was cast alongside Shahrukh Khan in the movie Om Shanti Om.
In 2013 Deepika turned designer and paired up with noted fashion brand Van Hensen and designed dresses and ladies purses. 2013 proved to be one successful year for Deepika with four hits in the box office and to finish the year Deepika turn writer and held a party for her success.
In 2014 Deepika started the year by celebrating her birthday in New York fans across the globe wished the diva via Twitter.
Then she went on to appear in the yearly calendar for Dabboo then the notied award season started with the Life Ok Star Screen Awards where her went on to win the best actress award for Chennai express this began her winning alot of awards in other cerermoines.
Filmography
Deepika made her acting debut in Kahanna movie Aishwaraya in the year 2006 before making her debut into the Bollywood industry with Om Shanti Om in the year 2007.

Madhuri, however, feels women now have a bigger say in the industry compared to earlier times.
"There was a time in films when I never saw a female assistant director, camera person or make-up person. There were very few women directors who you could count on your fingers. Now there are so many women working in different aspects of filmmaking. There are talented women directors like Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. The sensibilities are changing," the actress said.
Madhuri also credits new age directors for thinking beyond stereotypes when it comes to female performers.
"The new age directors see women in a different light and write good roles for women. They are no longer caricatures of say an avenger, a victim, or an eye candy. They are people, they are characters.
"What is amazing is that this is happening in mainstream. I liked what Deepika (Padukone) did in Cocktail' and Chennai Express'. I like this change and I think it is in the right direction," she said.
